Obama Bowl

Obama went bowling in Altoona, PA on a campaign stop, and proved one thing he's not good at: bowling. He was so bad, scoring a 37, the team at "Morning Joe" have already dubbed it the Altoona Massacre.
From the AP:

"My economic plan is better than my bowling," Obama told fellow bowlers Saturday evening at the Pleasant Valley Recreation Center.

"It has to be," a man called out...

A large crowd later expected later Sunday for a campaign rally at Penn State.

The night before, it was Obama Bowl-a-Rama.

And it was clear from the start of the evening that Obama was way out of his league, certainly any bowling league.

Watch:

Obama went bowling in Altoona, PA on a campaign stop, and proved one thing he's not good at: bowling. He was so bad, scoring a 37, the team at "Morning Joe" have already dubbed it the Altoona Massacre...

Obama bowled a 37? Now that is funny and also sad stuff. I think any 6 year old would have doubled him up on the scoreboard.

These guys all make themselves look like fools when they try to be "everyday people"

LOL, I agree 100%. 10 year old kids that NEVER EVER bowled can do better than Barack. Any semi-coordinated man (chew gum and walk at the same time) should be able to throw the ball down the middle strong enough to average more than four pins a frame. Barack must have never played any sports. I have bowled in the past and I'm not some great bowler but I bet I could throw blind-folded and get more than 4 pins a frame.

Did he drink any beers or smoke any cigarettes? Maybe he should do that the next time.

37 is a great score for the front nine. Question, did he make any birdies?

So what? He plays a mean game of basketball and could whip McCain or Hillary's ass in a one-on-one. Who cares if he can throw a ball down a lane? If you care, then your priorities must be totally out of whack.

Barry is just a regular guy. Bowling, hot dogs and freedom fries. Just the kind of guy you want to sit down and have a couple lines of coke with. On a reality check, Barry, don't try to be things you aren't. (37 at bowling? Most people could do that with a blindfold.) Stop pandering to the people of Pennsylvania and elsewhere. Stand at the podium and talk about the issues. If I want to have a beer with someone, I'll call George Bush.

Cut him some slack. After all he did bowl left handed.

Who is Barry? Your life is a waste. I too did some drugs as a teen and that was over 25 years ago, so what's your stupid point? I just read an article about pandering and the subject of the article was HRC's pandering to the white blue collar workers. The article said she has never worked in a factory, retail, whatever, she was a corporate lawyer and board member of Walmart. She can relate to the middle class about as well as you seem to understand why people want Barack for POTUS. POP!!!!! Whoops gotta go - sniper fire again.

Obama's a brave guy who can both laugh at himself and not lose it when others laugh at him. He knows he's a crummy bowler and he does it anyway! And without bumpers.

When's that last time any of us here hung something potentially embarassing out for AP, and the newswires, and even the bloggers to critique, dismiss, and judge us as a person by?

I give him some applause.

nicely stated. The guy is increasingly sympathetic I have to admit. Still a bit fishy how he got there though, but it takes a big man to be able to laugh at himself.

I hereby propose that we settle the nomination by a game of bowling.

If the media was following your every move, wouldn't you want to play games you're good at? He should hit the b-ball courts.

Also, you know if it were Hillary, all the comments here would be spinning metaphors out of those gutter balls.

Man, I love Obama, but that was pitiful. I could get a 37 when I was 8, even without the bumpers. I hear there's a bowling alley in the Whitehouse basement. Maybe he'll find time to practice.

It was reported that he did not go "10 rounds?" what ever that means. I am not familiar with bowling lingo but I was made to understand that he did not play a full game.

I watched Scarborough try to use this as evidence that Obama is not a real man-- like Reagan.
I kinda prefer Obama's often-expressed definition of a real man-- one who stays with the mother of his children and helps to raise those children.
Which gives Obama a real leg up on Reagan.

And according to Gutter-Bama, patriotism is NOT wearing a flag lapel pin and NOT putting your hand over your heart during the National Anthem. And going to a racist church is NOT a bad thing. And not being proud of your country until you run for President is NOT a bad thing.

So you think symbols and just saying "yay usa!" makes you patriotic? And you're not supposed to put your hand on your heart during the song anyways.
Man, when did the nazi movement come into america.
Seriously though, Obama is athletic in his own right, bowling isn't really a sport, it's a beer game.

Referring to the first of those two things -- you're right - patriotism is NOT those things. It isn't them at all. As for the last two things you named: I wouldn't agree that they're NOT bad things, but they are not things that apply to BHO, so they are irrelevant here.

Some more nots while we're at it: patriotism is NOT invading other countries that didn't attack you (that's a perversion of nationalism). Patriotism is NOT bullying other countries. Patriotism is NOT destroying your own country's military readiness, educational preparedness, economy, and environment including national parks. Patriotism is NOT equating right-wing politics with love of country.

Gad, how I miss Nixon - now there was a Bowler-in-Chief. That man could have given Al Bundy a run for his money.

He even built a bowling alley in the basement of the White House. It's still there. But perhaps they changed the wallpaper.

Who is that standing in the doorway? Ron Ziegler, the Press Secretary?

Any adult male should AT LEAST be able to bowl 120-140 with 2 strikes. If Obama makes it to the WH he better come back and impress these people.

Cut the guy some slack! He even said up front he hadn't gone bowling since he was a kid. It's the the sort of game you can just pick up after not playing it for decades.

If I took 2 decades off from playing golf, I'd make a complete fool of myself. It's the same principle.

Besides, Obama's a basketball nut. And if you look at the majority of the remaining states getting ready to vote, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Indiana especially, those states LOVE their basketball.

I agree with you fully. But a 37?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:15 PM on 03/31/2008

Instead of a debate, we should get the campaigns to have a bowl off and scream at each other about the issues as they get progressively more drunk.

Frankly, if Obama were good at bowling, I'd be extremely concerned about how he's been spending his time.
