Hillary Clinton opened up her press conference in Philadelphia today with a bold new challenge to Barack Obama (it was met by "guffaws all around from the press corps"):

"This has been a very hard fought race. We need to do something so that our party and our people can make the right decision. So I have a proposal: today I am challenging Senator Obama to a bowl off. A bowling night right here in Pennsylvania. Winner take all. I'll even spot him two frames.

"It's time for his campaign to get out of the gutter and allow all of the pins to be counted. And I'm prepared to play this game all the way to the tenth frame. and when this game is over the American people will know when that phone rings at 3am they'll have a president who's ready to bown on day one. So let's strike a deal and go bowling for delegates. We don't have a moment to spare.

"Because it's already April Fool's Day. So happy April Fool's Day everyone."

If a candidate is judged soley on his supporters, Obama would be a very poor President. Even though I support Hillary, I rather like Barack, and will probably support him if he is the Dems candidate, but everytime I read comments from his supporters, he loses me more and more. I've never seen such nasty and humorless people. It's fine to support your candidate, but this rabid idolation is getting a little too Jonestown for my comfort.

There are many Obama supporters that feel the same way about Clinton supporters. No one is going to win the argument over whose are worse, because people get so nutty and passionate about politics. There are enough crazy people on both sides to go around and embarass the reasonable supporters of Hillary and Barack.

I think we-the supporters- are the people who need to get drunk and go bowling together.

No? Ok, never mind.

What does this have to do with a bowl off?

You have a point....I for one can't believe what I just saw on that video. Hillary seems half serious and half joking. I don't think the gutter remark was a joke ,and ifnot, she should talk. I do now think this woman is delusional, I m not being sarc, I really believe it.
It isnt so much this tape, it's everyhing lately. The lies. Actually, I believe she really believes some of them, and that is more frightening than if she knows every lie she tells is a lie. I think she's on the verge.

This story is just another example of the crap the media wants us to think of as important..Why are there no real headlines about the head of homeland security saying Congress gave him the right to bypass laws. He made that statement in a story I just read on CNN about the border fence. I personally do not give a darn about HC's attempts at jokes or Obama's flirting but I do care about any department or group that believes they have the right to break our laws, take away our civil liberties, or circumvent our constitution. People get real there are more important issues out there.

Yeah, anything to get the attention off Bosnia.

For those of you who are interested in additional facts, here's an essay written by Christopher Hitchens, a reporter who was there and who had access to top officials in the Clinton administration:

Hitchens? Facts? Are you sure it's not another gin-soaked dream? Do you even know who Christopher Hitchens is? Hard to think an Obama supporter would be referencing CH for commentary, on anything, but there you have it. Quite illustrative.

I would have thought that Rocky Clinton would have challenged him to three rounds instead.

Obama should accept her offer but only if she will also accept his for a game of basketball or tennis (which he is also good at). How about that Hillary? Bowling and basketball (or tennis).

Yep he should take it...then she can play him at Golf and Basketball like you said.

The delivery was indeed AWFUL! Pity because it was potentially a good joke, but every bit of the delivery was read without any sign of humour and the gutter bit might have been so much better, "we can try and keep out of the gutter," or suchlike.

Sad. Embarrassingly so.

What you saw was out of context - She delivered it seriously on purpose- Here fron A.P.;

What I saw was IN context, and the delivery WAS awful. It was OK to start serious and flat, but there was no "style" at all. Somebody said she has a great sense of humour, but can't deliver a joke. On this evidence the latter is demonstrated.

Grow up! She has accomplished more in her lifetime then
most of you will accomplish in ten. What a sad generation. You have
no repsect for anyone. God help America!

Jeez, be reasonable, BeReasonable. Aim a little more carefully, will you? Not every Obama supporter here is attacking your candidate. Some of us thought it was funny, and we aren't all "filled with hate." It's remarks like that which make Clinton supporters seem more than a little crazed.

First the guy spends twenty years in a kill-whitey church, now he bowls a 37?!?!

Does this guy really want white people to vote for him?

He looked like HW Bush in a freestyle rap contest.
