Hillary Clinton opened up her press conference in Philadelphia today with a bold new challenge to Barack Obama (it was met by "guffaws all around from the press corps"):

"This has been a very hard fought race. We need to do something so that our party and our people can make the right decision. So I have a proposal: today I am challenging Senator Obama to a bowl off. A bowling night right here in Pennsylvania. Winner take all. I'll even spot him two frames.

"It's time for his campaign to get out of the gutter and allow all of the pins to be counted. And I'm prepared to play this game all the way to the tenth frame. and when this game is over the American people will know when that phone rings at 3am they'll have a president who's ready to bown on day one. So let's strike a deal and go bowling for delegates. We don't have a moment to spare.

"Because it's already April Fool's Day. So happy April Fool's Day everyone."

It was a pretty safe bet she would not challenge him to a game of truth or dare.

I thought it was funny when I read it - but Hillary is SO scripted these days that she never seems natural & genuine. It's sad. As for the bowling - he can't be good at everything!

It was all a setup so she could tell Obama to "get out of the gutter".

How could there be any room for anyone to even be in the gutter besides Hillary? She's been hogging the gutter throughout this whole campaign.

I think that's true. I said above that I didn't know if the gutter thing was a joke or in earnest. Now that you mention it, I think it was set up for that.

The moans were of embarrassment for this latest "forced moment" from the queen of forced embarrassing moments.

Did you happen to catch her comparing herself to "Rocky Balboa"? That was pretty sad, too.

Next comes "All right, Mr DeMille, I'm ready for my close up. ..."

I just want to tell you that you are a moron of the first degree. Why must everything be about race with you? GINNY( it is clear to many that your brain is made out of) POO that is why you expect everyone to think, talk and act like you.

Interestingly, I didn't see a single mention of race on this post until I got to your contribution.

duh...do you honestly think that she came up with that? I'm sure it was Wolfson with his desert dry sense of humor...

Wow - how did you manage to take a joke press release about a bowling competition and turn it into something racist? That's all you post about lately.

they should do miniature golf too.

Since Hillary now thinks she's Rocky Balboa, maybe they can have a boxing match. Three rounds at the old Spectrum. I don't condone hitting women but I would pay to see him knock her out. Yo Adrian, yes we can!

Obama should take that challenge but insist on an entry fee of last years tax returns.

Because, you know, she's a champion bowler. Yes indeed, won the National Bowling league trophy back in the day. Right before she went and dodged sniper fire in Bosnia.
Little known fact....

No, it wasn't a joke. She intended fort people to laugh, but it wasn't a joke. She used it as a clever metaphor for beating Obama.

She should have practiced saying the lines after her speech writer wrote them for her because her delivery was not very good when she was reading them off of the piece of paper. This is why you don't see professional comedians reading their lines off of paper - they memorize them and then the joke comes off much better.
Even if she had memorized it it wouldn't have been funny because she had too many Obama bashing comments in there.

The problem will be that Obama's supporter will ask for her to give up if Obama leads at any stage of the game...

Hillary's comedic attempts always fall flat. What makes this particular "joke" particularly unfunny is that Hillary's campaign REALLY IS grasping at straws in an attempt to explain how it is possible for her to win the nomination. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if Hillary advocated that the nomination be decided by guessing how many jelly beans in the jar. "I'll drop out if Barack can guess how many fingers I'm holding up behind my back!!"

Hey, here's an idea! How about Hillary makes her IRS records public! And then she could take questions about the sources of their $$$! Wouldn't that be a hoot?

Charming and funny? Obviously you have her confused with a non programmed human. That was calculated and as always mean spirited.....have the campaign stop throwing gutter balls? The one thing she's not lacking is balls.

Lighten up.

It was an April Fool's Day joke. And it was funny and lighthearted,

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 04:29 PM on 04/01/2008

How about attention whorish and a waste of time? (Not to mention childish -- even when she's trying to be light-hearted she has to ridicule her opponent.)

I hope you enjoy the spotlight now, Hil -- because once this is over, we're all going to forget you forever.
