John McCain on Tuesday struck away from the political legacy of President George W. Bush, as he sought to plot an obstacle-strewn course back to the White House for Republicans.

The party's presidential pick also mused on the lessons of his rebellious youth, as he sought to frame his life story as a history of self sacrifice and military service, the culmination of which would be the presidency.

"The point is, I'm not running on the Bush presidency, I'm running on my own service to the country, my own record in the House of Representatives and the United States Senate and my vision for the future," McCain told ABC televisio

for sure, man.

and what do conservatives think has happened in the last seven years that they can point to with pride? Maybe they think it feels good to get corn-h**** by a smirking, prepschool smartass.

McCain = INANE.
He's a Rove latest creation, just like GWBush.

Advertising, media image creation is everything in the Republican-controlled MEDIA scene.
Smoke & mirrors, slick sound bites = Republican success in screwing middle-income Americans for another 8 years.

John McCain running away from Bush.!!! Sorry, his brown nose betrays him, or as the more
colorful Brits might put it, he's Bush's bum sucker.

I think McCain should run on that picture of him with arms wrapped all the way around Bush, like a parasitic plant on a tree.

I guess McCain thought Bush's coattails were a bit longer than they turned out to be. But the emperor turned out to be totally naked, with no coattails at all.

McBush let Bush steal this from him in 2000 and it's too late. Much, much too late. For McCain, and for America.

Obama offers the only hope.

Exactly. If the Military Industrial Complex Lite Party has a brain in its diminutive noggin, that picture of McSucker hanging on to his serial abuser, Chimpy McTorturer (with KKKarl in the background casting his usual evil spells), will be wall-to-wall.

There once was a scorpion who wanted to cross a river. He asked a turtle if he could have a ride on its back to get across. The turtle said, "No, you'll sting me." "I promise I won't," said the scorpion. After more appeals and protestations from each, the turtle agreed. Halfway across the river, the turtle felt a sharp stinging pain in his neck. "You said you wouldn't sting me," the turtle cried, as they both started to sink. "I'm sorry, but that is my nature," said the scorpion.

If Obama wants to attack McCain, it would be better if he claims McCain said something he actually said and just puts his own deceptive spin to it.
That 100 year war thing was so easy to debunk that even the MSM said Barry was full of it.

I guess you didn't see the video where McCain said 100 year war.... as opposed to bush's own 50 year war.

Perhaps you want to have tons a grandchild for the Bush/McCain wars?

"The Annenberg Political Fact Check, a nonprofit and nonpartisan project of the Annenberg Public Policy Center of the University of Pennsylvania, says: "It's a rank falsehood for the DNC to accuse McCain of wanting to wage 'endless war' based on his support for a presence in Iraq something like the U.S. role in South Korea.""

Good enough for you?
Want more?
How's this ...

"... our presence projects power and provides stability for the entire Gulf and for vulnerable U.S. allies that line its shores.

http://www.courant.com/news/opinion/editorials/hc-krauthammer0328.artmar28,0,5024781.story

The desirability of a similar presence in Iraq was obvious as long as five years ago to retired Gen. Merrill McPeak, one of Barack Obama's leading military advisers and his campaign co-chairman. During the first week of the Iraq War, McPeak (a war skeptic) suggested in an interview that "we'll be there a century, hopefully. If it works right.""

we'll be there a century, hopefully. If it works right." Well, it hasn't, not with incompetence and arrogance leading the way, courtesy of neocon hubris. H. Paul Bremmer sealed the deal.

The question of presence is mute. It's whether staying there and stiring up conflict is being used as a pretext to invade Iran. That's the part McCain is lying about. That's why he continues to conflate al-Queda with the Shiah. He wants to start a greater conflict that will draw in the other nations of the region. It's all part of the neo-con "new world order". It's not even about the middle east, or China... it's about undoing our democracy, and subverting the constitution to move to one world government. First a European Union, then a North and South American Union, then an Asian Alliance, then you put them all together and suddenly BIG BROTHER OWNS YOUR ASS.

I say, "FUCK FASCISM, and all who sail on her!"

I guess I should trust the video that I saw of McCain expressing a willingness for a 100 year war... and trying to one-up bush boy himself by 50 years.

I should just trust you that McCain wants to pull the troops out of Iraq.

thank you for clearing that up for me.

In attempting to retell the story of what McCain said, his supporters forget that he was trying to compare Iraq to our occupation of Japan after WWII, and our peace keeping presence in Korea after the Korean war. Both these countries welcomed our occupation and have profited from it. Indeed, we are partners with them, not just economically, but culturally in many ways. But, our presence there was only possible because it was welcomed, and becuase hostilities were over.

In Iraq, there is "NO END IN SIGHT" (a good movie, you really should watch)

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=6182969183854471645

So, McCain's statements are even more delusional when you try to imagine Iraq as a place where a western democracy would somehow, sometime, EVER BE WELCOMED. It is the FURTHERANCE OF THIS DELUSION that makes McCain so wrong and worthy of scorn.

He is clearly not interested in American interests. Like Bush, and the rest of the neo-cons, he is thinking about military presence, and the control of world oil.

The facts are these, Ahcmadinejad (sp) walked into Bagdad, was greeted with open arms, and basically given the keys to the city. BUSH had to SNEEK IN under cover of night, greeted only slightly better than his first pitch for opening day at the Washington Senators game.

IRAQ NOW BELONGS TO IRAN, thanks to the U.S. Military's oppresive, and selfish presence, that John McCain is happy to let continue for even one hundred years, more

McBush is just going to continue with Bush's policies, at least according to what he says, and conveniently forgets what he had said the next moment. That's just his Ronald Reagoon Republican Party Alzheimer's kicking in and allows McBush to claim the Reagoon mantle being that a Republican President doesn't require a brain and/or a mind, and they prefer it that way.

The actual Mencken quote is, "No one ever lost money underestimating the intelligence of the American public." NOR DID A POLITICIAN EVER LOSE AN ELECTION. The McCain candidacy is certainly proof of that....

I sure hope the American voters are not as clueless as they were in 2000 and 2004 or they would know that they are getting exactly the same bottom of the class Bushit they got when they voted for Dumbya when they vote for John McCain. The difference is that we are closer to 3 trillion dollars poorer now and much closer to a recession so this "fiscal conservatism" (ha-ha) cannot continue or we will all be in bread lines.

The Republicans have not forgotten how to rig elections.

Everyone has gotten complacent about that because the Democrats picked up a few seats in 2006. They planned it that way.

We have to give Obama a majority too large for the Republicans to steal it away.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:58 PM on 04/01/2008

Rigging is the Republican strategy for elections. They know they can't win otherwise. Republicans consider elections to be the end game and governance is of no concern, except to govern bad to prove they are right about government being bad.

I just saw this on Fox news (and they are always fair and balanced) that President George W. Bush will resign as of 9pm local time this evening to take over the chairmanship of Mensa. He will be known as Mr. General Secretary!
Vice-President Cheney will also step aside to become head of the National Rifle Association (good marksmanship and gun safety being his best qualities.) Charleton Heston has agreed to become a real-life Moses and lead the Palestinians from their wilderness of confusing politics to the promised land (where ever the United States decides for the rest of the world where that will be.) It is expected that the Palestinians, led by Moses-Heston will be lost for the next 40 years.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will be sworn in as the President at 9:01pm tonight local time and will handle any re-writing of financial laws in our nation. This is all designed to bring some sense of sense into what has become nonsense!
