John McCain on Tuesday struck away from the political legacy of President George W. Bush, as he sought to plot an obstacle-strewn course back to the White House for Republicans.

The party's presidential pick also mused on the lessons of his rebellious youth, as he sought to frame his life story as a history of self sacrifice and military service, the culmination of which would be the presidency.

"The point is, I'm not running on the Bush presidency, I'm running on my own service to the country, my own record in the House of Representatives and the United States Senate and my vision for the future," McCain told ABC televisio

John Mccains too damn old, he'll soon be entering into what the chinese politely refer to as an adults second childhood when their mind regresses and their children become the adults to them. John Mccain should retire and let a younger republican make a campaign, his very presence is stagnating.

Great post.

TOP LOBBYIST TO RUN McCAIN CAMPAIGN

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Veteran Republican operative Charles Black resigned Tuesday from his job as chairman of a high-profile Washington lobbying and consulting firm to move full time to the McCain presidential campaign, the one-time spokesman for the Republican National Committee told CNN.

Black has been a senior McCain adviser and one of his top campaign confidantes. He also is one of several top McCain advisers whose work at lobbying firms has been cited by McCain’s critics in challenging the senator’s credentials or commitment to political reform.

Black told CNN that the move removed those concerns. “There are some who wanted to make some allegations that I had some conflict because I was a lobbyist,” he said. “I never felt there were any such conflicts, but now no one can say I have a conflict or such issues.”

Of course McCain isn't running on the Bush presidency; he's running on Cheney's vice presidency.

Naw, McCain's frequent showing of slipups and forgetfulness show that is running for Bush's spot.
It will be McCain's VP that is running for Cheney's spot.

I think recent evidence has shown that on foreign policy even if McCain is following certain principles of Bush, he is still able to keep up with the Dem's. I recently posted up a blog post regarding how over the last week when Iraq was in the gutters McCain didn't have a drop in his polling numbers.

The blog post is here: http://blog.hubdub.com/

These polls now mean very little. It is way to early for the national pool of voters to be taking a careful look at McCain's policies on the war or the economy. Most interest is now directed at the Democratic race. After that is resolved, the Democratic candidate (probably Obama) will concentrate fire on McCain's weaknesses in both areas. Then, we will see his poll numbers fall. Remember, it is a long time from April to November. The voters will zero in big time after Labor Day. It may be hard for us political junkies to wait that long, but it is true.

More wishful thinking on your part. And if this is the best you can come up with I sure as hell won't waste my time going to any website where you are a content editor. Did the pentagon dream up that title for you?

obviously, with your pictures parroting McCain with Bush you have (as a website) given up any pretense of journalistic objectivism and shown your cards as a site for those who want to support the candidates you espouse only. that's okay, but you wiil get limited discourse of opinion. but don't fool yourselves into thinking that you are any different from purely partisan others. you diminish your potential.

granted, but that pic and that title qualifies as a top shelf rant! Heh.

mccain is a fool because george bush is the best president ever! he's never ever made a mistake, he said so himself! arbusto, harken, the iraq war, katrina, 9/11 -- all complete successes! don't be swayed by the "facts", because facts are for commies and islamofascists. even HISTORY ITSELF will tell you how great bush was in a few hundred years! why wouldn't mccain want to wrap bush around him like the flag? if anything, bush is even MORE AMERICAN THAN THE FLAG! the flag should wear a little george bush pin on its lapel.

c'mon, john! pucker up and freedom kiss your ticket to the white house!

Before the chimp came along, I had no idea that grown adults could spend so much of their lives shaking in their boots and never to tire of it. Conservatives are stunted cowards who refuse to grow up.

Always searching for some fake macho authority figure to 'lead the way' and make them feel safe.
Grow up conservatives and stop burdening society with your stupid fears! You are the last party to be making any decisions about anything.

And if it weren't for their own disastrous foreign policies, we may not have much of anything to fear at all. But fear itself, of course.

The following message from John McBush is intended for those who have NOT been paying attention:

"The point is, I'm not running on the Bush presidency"

Actually, a more accurate statement from good ol' Johnboy would be "The point is, I'm not running FROM the Bush presidency"

Semantics. That's all it is. His platform - if you even want to call it that - is virtually indistinguishable from the bush admins.
