New York Times:

Hillary Rodham Clinton might have the endorsement of two of the top Jewish names in Pennsylvania politics -- Governor Ed Rendell and Rep. Allyson Schwartz of Philadelphia -- but 70 other leading Jewish professionals from the Keystone State would rather see Barack Obama at the top of the Democratic ticket.

Josh Shapiro, the deputy speaker of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, drafted an open letter to the state's Jewish community on behalf of Mr. Obama, the candidate who boasts what Mr. Shapiro calls a "100 percent voting record on Israel issues."

I grew up with Michael Tananbaum, attended his bar mitzvah, lived across the street from Mr. Zeff, who had an Auschwitz number tatooed on her forearm, and I taught where Bernard Malamud taught. See malamudandme.com. Obama is the right person for president. It is passed time for Hillary to bow out.

Israel issues? I'm glad to see Obama getting more endorsements but how endorsing him because he's concerned about American issues. Which country is this election for?

This election process has really made me aware of a lot of things. It has made me grow and think about some of my thoughts and wonder why did I feel that way. It has made me examine who I am and I have to say, I realized with a open mind I can understand different "people" point of view.

No other politician has every brought the best out of me that Obama has.....I even react to people differently.....I pause before responding just to make sure it's not a knee jerk reaction.

Not to sure what this has to do with this topic, it just rolled off of my finger tips, LOL.

HuffPost's Pick

As someone who has always respected the Jewish community for its steadfast commitment to the civil rights of many minority and oppressed groups in this country, and the African American civil rights movement of the 60's in particular, I am delighted to read of this group of Jewish leaders who have seen and understood the unique abilities and vision of Barack Obama.

I am not Jewish nor AA, but I am a Gay man, and I appreciate from my own struggles with the sometimes willfully ignorant and often thoughtless majority when one group or another has come forward, taken a stand, taken a risk, put their own lives on the line to give support to someone else's struggle.

what a surprise that this was selected as the Huff Pick. I was expecting something that praised Hillary as usual.

This is great news.
After closely following the twists and turns of the campaign, reading Obama's books, hearing many of his speeches, I have to rely on my own judgment to evaluate his positions. What I see is a true leader that speaks with clarity, wisdom, and goodness. He does not claim to be perfect, nor would any mature person believe that he could be, but he is our best hope at this time to move us forward on the enormous challenges we face as anation and as a world. I am grateful that the PA Jewish leaders took a stand and help confirm what many of us already knew in our hearts.

Senator Obama does'nt have one ounce of predujice in his body . He loves all people. People of bi-racial background who grew up having cousins, uncles .mother ,father ,grandparents on both sides connect with all people. Senator Obama's sister who grew up with him,is married to a Canadian of Chinese decent .You heard him in his speech on race say he has relatives of all races spread over three continents. He grew up in a white household . Most of his formative years he encountered no blacks. You heard him in his speech praise whites for working from the scratch and building their community by themselves without help. Yet there are those who try to paint him as one-sided ,the "black candidate" Well it wont work ,the American people are smart and getting smarter.

How do you know he doesn't have any prejudice in him. He wasn't worshiping at a Buddhist monastery he was reading newsletters from his church advocating the destruction of the zionist nazi state of Israel.

I am a 50 year old Jew. My Father spent 3 1/2 years in Buchenwald - the rest of the family was killed in Auschwitz. I have some distant relatives in Israel, some who survived Nazi Germany. I am not a "zionist", because I think a Jewish homeland should be any peiece of land where a Jew has a home. I do think Israel has the right to exist. I am not in favor of , recently, right-wing politics there. I also believe in the right of Palestinians, and all peoples, to live well and prosper to the best of their abilities. I am also very aware of the turmoil there that has gone on for many, many decades. In other words, I believe this to be a very complicated situation.

My point is this: After listening to Wright, Fahrakan, and others espousing both anti-semetic views and anti-American views, I support Barack Obama 100% with absolutely no reservations. I think he is exactly what this country need, and further, I think the whole world could use a good dose of him right now. I urge not only Jews, but all people to take a look that goes deeper than stupid sound bites, and beyond the idea that the associate of an associate represents your own views. Obama has been consistent in everything he has said.

Obama has my deepest wishes for success. I will vote for him with no reservations. I hope you all do the same.

FreedomLover, Your response is fine, but we all know that you couldn't be a politician and get away with saying that. I recall the sudden fall of a former front runner when he did. (Although the attacks that began immediately after he said it, addressed everything under the sun except his call for an even handed quest for justice.)
Justice has no skin color, no religion, no nationality, no political party, and --- in our politics --- no place!
Those worried about Obama should read his books. And those worried about Wright should listen to his sermons as a whole, instead of a phrase picked out of an incomplete sentence. He is no hater either.
Not being religious at all, I won't comment further.
I would be happier if instead of the onesided cries, I could someday hear sincere calls for JUSTICE!

It's nice to see that people can still think for themselves and not be pulled into all the spin and lies.

I'm glad that there are still some wise people around. Hillary has managed to fool some people, but thank God there are still people wise enough to see through her BS,and the republicans smear tactics.
