Campaign AdWatch: Mike Gravel Will Have His Revenge On The Beatles Songbook

Mike Gravel may not have ended up contributing too much to the Democratic primaries, but if there was one achievement where Gravel led all comers by a million miles, it was the production of amazingly insane campaign videos. Delightful in direct proportion to the extent to which they were ill-advised, no one quite hit the vein of surreal, madcap agitprop quite like Gravel. Well, now that he's officially dumped the Dems for the Libertarians, the guy is free to continue his tradition of making the most retina-searing YouTubes in history. In this clip, the world is heading to Hell in a millenial handbasket, and then Gravel appears on the scene, busting out the Beatles tune "Helter Skelter" in the style of a cranked William Shatner. Do you, don't you, want him to love you?

Would Mike Gravel be taken any more seriously if he were quoting Robert Frost? or maybe from Britany Spears for today's featherheads?

What better metaphor for him to use than 'helter-skelter" to parody all the Fascist war-babble we've been getting from Democrats and Republicans the past 45 years or more. Yes, "we're coming down fast" by our own hand.

The cowards hate his honesty. They will do ANYTHING to shame him or those who agree with him. But courage means not letting a coward embarrass you, no matter how hard they try.

The coward will stumble in their attacks, right before your feet. They always do, because that is how it has always worked, all throughout history. Eventually, because cowards hate themselves - they sabotage their own actions. Calling someone crazy is fine, but loses all meaning when the madness of others goes ignored (This administration). If one does not start there, then their attacks become meaningless.

Gravel was another one of the "old guys" who were discarded by voters early on, as no longer being relevant, in favor of the sexier vote for race/gender. Funny thing is, early on all the candidates kept the focus on America's past, her failures, offering up "change". We discarded many because they seemed too outlandish, cooky, unelectable. But none of the ones left offer anything that remotely resembles a concrete agenda of what that change really is. We discarded the candidates who could knowlegeably substantiate the cost of continuing down the path of status quo, and were really ready to do something about it, in favor of those who cast stones, but offer no good, strong, solutions- only soundbites.

Gravel, Kucinich and others were not discarded by the voters, they we discarded by the war profiteering MSM. The voters never go to hear them debate. They were out before the first primary.

I agree, we let the best candidates go away and now we are saddled with more of the same.
That being said, I voted for Obama because I see him as the lesser evil of the 3.
People are too stupid to vote for a good candidate who really brings about change.

Video was different from the norm.

The 9/11 video footage is excessive. Using that in any type of political advertisement is unneeded and tacky.

Other than that, made some good historical correlations.
