"Looking to honor the forty-third President of the United States of America, George W. Bush, the recently formed Presidential Memorial Commission of San Francisco is looking to change the name of the Oceanside Wastewater Treatment Facility. It seems the group would like to rename the SF Zoo adjacent facility to the 'George W Bush Sewage Plant,' SFist reports.

The grassroots movement is "proposing an ordinance initiative for the November 2008 San Francisco ballot" -- check out their web site here.

This is wrong. Wastewater plants take sewage and improve it somewhat, getting it closer to clean pure water. The Bush administration has taken clean pure water and has polluted it, getting it closer to sewage. What they should do is name the sewage inflow pipes for Bush.

A great idea!

"I hereby christen this 2.3 mile section of sewage pipe, oops, i mean effluent conduit to our 43rd president, George W. Bush. Unfortunately, President Bush can't be here today. It seems he was touring the "conduit" when the citizens of the city of San Francisco all simultaneously flushed."

This idea is priceless . Only California could come up with such a plan, and only George Bush is worthy of such an honor. I say "go for it"!

Good idea. This has my vote. Maybe shrub will come to San Francisco and cut the ribbon to open the place up. Heck, he might even take a crap there like he has done every place else in the world.

I love CA, I love San Francisco, they are always right there, way to go. And you know, they are not whacky, as mentioned by Dreadneck, just free spirits and think outside the box.

It's worth the trip to SF just to sqeeze out a big one out and flush.

Great Idea!

This could catch on in all 50 states and other countries too.

Perhaps is will look better when written in Swedish, French, German, Lithuanian, etc..

Perhaps SMU will quietly move his LIEbrary to this plant, after all - it's a FAR more appropriate place for this preznut'z CRAP.

I grew up in CA, and San Francisco was always my favorite city. Not only is the city gorgeous, its residents are forward-thinking with a great sense of humor. This waste treatment center may become a tourist attraction!

Having spent my entire career as a wastewater treatment operator I find naming a treatment plant GWB an insult to shit.

I spent my teen years in the bay area and this is the reason I still think fondly of the area.

I don’t get it. Sewage treatment plants perform a vitally important function for our society.
