Hillary Clinton

UPDATE: Mark Halperin is reporting comments from an anonymous Clinton official:

"Bill Richardson is clearly embarrassed that he broke his promise to them. He should come out and tell the truth and admit that he told both Clintons that Obama wasn't ready and can't win."

ABC News reports:

Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., and former President Bill Clinton are making very direct arguments to Democratic superdelegates, starkly insisting Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., cannot win a general election against presumptive Republican nominee, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.

Sources with direct knowledge of the conversation between Sen. Clinton and Governer Bill Richardson, D-N.M., prior to the Governor's endorsement of Obama say she told him flatly, "He cannot win, Bill. He cannot win."

Ha!
Hillary just said on TV "I don't talk about what is said in personal conversations...."

Well I yes that rule doesn't apply to Bill Clinton since he has been ranting about what was in conversations between him and Bill Richardson (even though the conversations NEVER even took place).

Give me a break!
Go home Bill and Hill.

My opinion is that Hillary and Co are their own worst enemies. They could have just stayed silent on the Richardson endorsement and in a couple days it would be old news. But they just can't help themselves. They spew invective and attacks long after they do anything but hurt themselves. Think about it Richardson endorsed on 3-20 since then Dan Lipinski (IL), Don Williams (CT), Sen. Bob Casey (PA) , DNC Steven Alari (CA), Sen. Amy Klobuchar(MN), DNC Al Edwards (TX), DNC John Melcher (MT) all for Obama with none for Hillary.

Bob Casey is huge, he is loved in Penn and instead of getting on the news cycles working on Casey they are stuck on Richardson who is 7 super delegate endorsements ago. I guess with no new Supers in that time that's all they can do is scold Richardson so bad they hope it keeps others from endorsing Obama. They have been throwing the Wright stories around too but look, it isn't working. 23-20 to now it is Obama 8, Clinton 0. So they need to rethink whatever they are doing.

That should read 3-20 to now (not 23-20 to now)

The allegation that Richardson said that Obama cannot win doesn't jibe with the story of Hillary telling Richardson the same thing. If he had already said that, why did Hillary find it necessary to persuade him of the same thing? And why did he support Obama if he believed that? This doesn't pass the sniff test. And the fact that the source of the allegation was a "Clinton official" is all we need to surmise that this is just another desperate Clintonion tactic.

Why would you endorse a candidate you feel cannot win?

I wonder if the pit of immoral behavior the Clinton's are sinking is a bottomless pit and therefore there is no limit to how low they can go?

Many have been exposed for who they truly are during this election. Careers are going to be impacted not just at the presidential level.

This week with Gorge S. should become, “This Week's Lie from George S.”, or “This Week’s Spin from George S., or “This Week in Me Paying Off my Debt to the Clinton’s for giving me the Credentials to Land this Cushy Job with George S.

What a letdown George S. has revealed himself to be.

I wonder what David Brinkley thinks?

Hillary would make a great President.
The news media want to elect Obama and the only way to do that is to push Hillary out. So many people where helped up the ladder by the Clintons and suddenly they don't want to know them.

I cannot understand how they can continually give their personal opinion about anything Hillary says or does.
I don't know how they can look at themselves in the mirror it must be sad to sink that low.

Of course Chris Matthews is something else again, he happens to be in love with Obama his eyes shine and he slobbers when he is talking about him, how can this be happening???

"Hillary would make a great President"

What type of drugs are you on and where can I get them?

I am sorry but I have had enough of presidents who constantly lie to me and the public to benefit themselves. As far as I am concerned Hillary Clinton is no better than George W. Bush.

She lies at will and feels no remorse about doing it either.

Maybe you like people trying to manipulate you but I for one am one American that has had enough of politicans trying to blow smoke up our asses!!!!!!!

I disagree with you. I feel that the media has given Hillary a pass. If they really wanted to slam her ,they could. They could start by informing the public about the trial going on in NY and the one getting ready to start in CA.Both of wiich she is involved in taking illegal campaign funds. All I hear is Rev. Wright all the time. So don't give me this crap about the media being harsh on Hillary......That's B---S---!

Is anyone else tired of the Clintons? They way they try and manipulate every situation. It is seriously getting old! Besides haven't they noticed the cat is already out of the bag! We know that all they know how to do is lie - so no matter how they try and spin something the majority of the people will not believe them and they are only making themselves look worse.

She should seriously think about leaving the race and saving what little dignity they have left.

Absolutely @ tired.

I'm tired of their type of politician, too. That corrupted "I'm owned by the special interests" style fighter, who David Bergen said, is has her "enemy lists".

The only classy thing for her to do is step down and support the front-runner. (And if upcoming voters in elections want to put an end to this, they should vote that way, too.)

I really do not believe, that it's in her character to do that, though. I think, she'd rather take revenge on the Democratic Party, than she anyone else get the nomination.

"...Arianna and Kos and Frank Rich and Maureen Dowd (earlier) and other bloggers/pundits led the charge in piling on Hillary Clinton, and they did a pretty good job: she's not electable either...."

Hillary has no one to blame but herself.

As for the posters repeating one-note themes that seem to savage either Obama or Hillary:

(1) the most persistent and vociferous are probably GOP trolls or Clinton campaign apparatchiks. The latter are driven by desperation to push the latest theme from the campaign--Obamas unelectability. The Trolls just sew whatever discord they can to roil the waters [see 3].

(2) Yes, there are overzealous posters from both sides here but, it appears, you can spot the ones that have their assigned topics/disinformation tactics to relentlessly push.

(3) The GOP apparatus knows that the only chance it has of winning is to keep the Dem enthusiasm and, thus, the turnout down. If Obama's acolytes and/or Hillary's "centrists" turn out, the general election, while close with either Dem candidate in the race, is over.

(4) If the voters see the cynicism inherent in the disinformation/disruption tactics used on these cyber forum for what it is, hopefully, from this election cycle forward, they'll turn their backs on the type of candidate and organisation that employs them.

You have made in my opinion astute and correct observations.

Evil always counts on a divide of the people.

I have never visited a republican blog site because I do not like barfing; although if I were involved in strategy for either Dem camp I would be on those sites everyday studying the tactics and the strategies of the hateful and dreadful. I would not engage in disinformation for wrong is wrong. They say that is what is wrong with the Dem part and why it has lost so many presidential campaigns --an unwillingness to stoop really low.

Hillary is disproving that as I write.

IMO the Clinton's have shown they have no integrity. None. Zilch. I can't believe I defended Bill for the last 8 years. Now I see why the Reps hated them so much and such a moron like Bush was elected into the white house.

America is comprised of people not willing to be duped by shell games and slight of hand by those with compromised morals and weak backbones who can only think about personal comfort/career at the sacrifice and to the detriment of the countries well-being; those who fan the flames of racial and class prejudices to achieve presidential aspirations. I attempt to put a brake on spin and deliver some harsh opinion to the electorate; opinion you seldom get from most media outlets because of so many reasons having nothing to do with a better America. I cannot properly treat this subject in the space provided. Therefore I provide the link below to a treatment expressing my opinion on the subject of leadership.

As one who wanted to stay on the sidelines of this election process, it is not a trivial matter to offer up any opinion. But I was drawn out by what I have seen over this election cycle. Keep in mind that I do not feel my self to be omnipotent, omniscient, or anywhere near God like; thus the moniker I use. Keep in mind if you dare/care to read the document that I am a true patriot just like a parent is a true parent who loves their child but may have to give that child strong medicine to allow for healing. In full disclosure I state that I support Obama. Do not let that stop you from reading what I have to say.

Dick Gregory preaches that old time religion, the kind that Ma and Pa used to talk about. America needs some of that as oposed to the idol worship we are into now. There is no shame in seeking to identify and tell the truth, even a truth that indicts that you love; which in some cases is only self (Hillary).

Thanks for your kind words. I in my small (some may say insignificant) way am trying to serve the people by giving a man-on-the-street account of things.

What bothers me is the people who come here to say they are for Hillary because of the attacks on her by Obama. Time and again, I have replied to them and in a very friendly way asked them to clarify what attacks they are talking about. No takers yet.

So anybody who wants to take me up on that, please do. I have a list of Clinton attacks on Obama that I will be glad to match you with. To me, there is no question that it is Hillary's camp doing the attacking, but I would be happy to listen to how you feel Hillary is being attacked, because I am missing that part somehow. Anybody?

Good luck with that search, ATL. I have a feeling you're going to be like Diogenes looking for the honest man.

I've been hearing these complaints from Clinton supporters for weeks. Maybe I'm suffering from some rare form of dementia, but I just can't seem to remember what bad things Obama has said about her that weren't directly related to something bad she had first said about him.

In any case, I'm pretty sure he has never (1) suggested she's unqualified, (2) suggested John McCain was better qualified, (3) accused her, in so many words, of being all talk and no action, (4) yada, yada, yada. (I could go on for the rest of the page.) And one thing is certain: Despite all the poison she's been spreading, I haven't heard him constantly whine about it.

Let's not forget all the Hillary supporters that parrot their positions on how she can win without ever bothering to look at the facts and figure out what her chances really are. I've taken the time to figure the numbers more than once. Those posts may still be in my profile, but that's not the point anyway. The point is that the whole thing seems to be boiling down to an "I know you are but what am I?" argument from the Clinton supporters.

They accuse Obama of blocking FL and MI revotes when he has no say in them whatsoever. They then argue that those states should count despite their having broken the rules, and despite Hillary having broken agreements. They act as though Hillary's big wins in FL and MI are somehow legitimate despite the fact that as in almost every other state, Obama would likely have caught up to her easily had those contests been held when they were supposed to.

I think the biggest shame resulting from Hillary's refusal to concede is that her supporters have learned to believe in her ever-changing, increasingly unrealistic, definition of victory, and worse still, they have allowed themselves to overlook all of her lies and other character flaws in order to allow themselves to argue for these outlandish possibilities..

Not just related to something bad she said about him but something VERIFiABLY dishonest that the Clintons had said or done even before Obama entered the little closed kingdom o' Clinton. A case in point is their behavior re NAFTA....she said she didn't support it, then the documents came out that said she did support it. Stuff like this happens over and over and her supporters, poor things, keep blaming the bad news on Obama and attack him for merely calling these things to people's attention. The Clintons have said so many bad things about Obama that telling his telling the truth about them seems like retaliation, especially to the lazy dimwits who don't bother to inform themselves of the real history of the Clinton family and how it operates..

The big problem with the Clintons is that any truthful account of what they have said and done is going to sound like an attack on them and their (lack of) integrity.

If it were true what Clinton claimed that Richardson said, it is no surprise. Of course, at the time, most superdelegates who promised their support to the Clintons didn't know about the new kid on the block : Obama. But now, after seeing that he has the most money from the little people's donation, listening to his speech and his manner throughout the campaign, then they know NOW, they, just like lots of people who thought the Clintons were inevitable at the beginning, are mistaken about Obama. And the Clintons. The more the Clintons act as if the presidency is their entitlement, the more they praise McCain instead of arguing the issues with their fellow democrat candidate to get the nomination, the more they spinned the reality to fit their selfserving ego, the more superdelegates will have to RETHINK their earlier commitment to the Clinton. The sooner the Clintons realize (it is hard when they are so delusional) that no one owes them anything, the better for them to retain some dignity left for them. The Clintons should leave the democratic party and form a party or a country of their own with themselves as the King and Queen or a banana republic.
