Larry King Baseball

Larry King was recently named one of GQ's 25 "Most Whipped Husbands," but his devotion to his family doesn't stop at his wife Shawn: King, who coaches his 9-year old son Chance's baseball team, recently got so crazed in a fight with an umpire that he got kicked off the Beverly Hills Little League field.

The New York Observer's Spencer Morgan reports:

"[Mr. King] was making a fool out of himself as a manager on the field, talking in the middle of the field in the middle of plays," reported a source close to the action.

According to this source, Mr. King was told by the umpire in question to "regroup" and calm himself, and he did not respond well to this. Rather, the informant said, he continued arguing and was then relegated to the bleachers, where he continued to make noise, and was finally forced to watch the game from the outfield's periphery.

Read Morgan's entire report here.

It's nice to see that he takes an interest and was there for his kid though even if he did get worked up.

it has always amazed me how seriously some parents can take a little league game.

Look at that photo! Maybe they wanted an excuse to ban Larry from the games, since he probably scared the kids. He is not even marginally attractive.

I've been an umpire at a kids game and parents are brutal. This must have been quite the site seeing King go nuts.

That sick old fart should just go to the home and live out his remaining years away from the public eye. I can't watch his show because I feel embarrassed for him. He is just out of it. And whatever meds he is taking, they don't help.

Wow, so many people here are being really cruel without much good reason. Did Larry do something evil that I don't know about? As far as I've ever seen, he's a pleasant, mild mannered and genuinely tolerant interviewer. And who cares if he got a little edgy at his son's game? At least he was there, and coaching no less! Lots of dads lose their cool over sports. It's kind of the nature of the beast... Damn, choose your enemies folks...

I'm with you 'signifyingnothing. Why all the anger at Larry? Always thought he was an okay guy. Are people angry because he still has his job at his or a young wife? Either way if i didn't have to give up a number of years of my life I'd probaly trade. On teh brighter side maybe now Larry can do a story about parents who lose their tempers at there childrens games I think he's an authority on that now. I know that was a swipe. Bad me! I'll leave Larry alone....

Thanks signifyingnothing for your remarks. There is no need to be unkind or even cruel to Mr. King. He is one of the view interviewers left who does not feel the need to tear down his guests or "put them on the hot seat." While many are scoffing at him due to his age, maybe it is just that very thing that has made him more tolerant of other's views and their mistakes. Please, give him a break; you just might find that in the near future, you may need one of your own.
