Poll: Clinton Significantly Outperforms Obama Vs. McCain In Ohio, Florida

New polling data released today from Quinnipiac University:

* Florida: Clinton 44 percent - McCain 42 percent; McCain beats Obama 46 - 37 percent;
* Ohio: Clinton beats McCain 48 - 39 percent; Obama gets 43 percent to McCain's 42 percent

"When it comes to November, Sen. Hillary Clinton's strength is a big edge over Sen. Barack Obama among white voters, who have not given a majority of their votes to a Democratic presidential nominee since Lyndon Johnson in 1964," said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute." ...

"At least for now, Sen. Clinton's argument that she is the better general election candidate in these key battleground states appears to have some validity," said Brown. "In this survey, her strength among white voters is why she runs better against Sen. McCain than does Sen. Obama.

"Roughly one in five Democrats in the three states say they will vote for McCain against Obama, but less than 10 percent say they would vote for McCain over Clinton. Among white Democrats, 23 percent defect to McCain in a matchup with Obama, but only 11 percent defect when Clinton is the Democratic candidate."

The Obama Thugocrats have been saying for months that their Messiah can only beat McCain in the general. Other than their hatred for Hillary, this has been a major rational for Obama.

Here are the facts:

Hillary won in primary states where most of the educated population lives.

Obama won mainly in inbred caucus states where his supporters thugged their way to victory.

Obama supporters want to disenfranchise Michigan and Florida, because they know they will lose Michigan and Florida. They hate democracy. They know they can't win fair and square, so they will thug their way to the top by hook or crook if they have to.

In the states that count for an Electoral College victory, Hillary beats McCain and Obama loses to McCain.

Ergo, Obama Thugocrats have been basically lying for months now. They are not rational beings. They are Hillary hate mongers who support an empty suit because he makes them feel good. No policies, no potential for victory, just feelings of hatred for Hillary and a love for flowery speeches about hope and change that have no substance.

Fact is, both Hillary and Obama want to win. The strategy they use is basic politics....which is something Obama people dont like to hear about their "Change" candidate because they believe he is somehow immune to using politics to get an edge.

Thanks. Nothing has made me even take a second look at Obama after listening to the infantile arguments his supporters use for every conflict to him not being annointed. Most of the Obama supporters I knew have left to support Hillary after Rev Wright.

Thugocrats. Mature.

Michigan and Florida are in a mess of their own creation. IMO they should not get diddly squat this year. They broke the rules - if the voters of those states are angry, take it out on the party officials in their own states who decided to break the rules.
You know that many Democratic voters stayed home because they knew the vote wouldn't count, right? Florida is one of the FEW states where the Republican turn out was higher than the Democratic one.

Senator Obama's supporters hate Democracy so much because they are winning in all the vote tallies (delegates, states, popular) and the "they cannot win" argument holds NO WATER.

And the "big state" argument is also meaningless. If you mean California, New York, Illinois (I know Barack won Illinois) - those states are perennially blue, they will go to whomever is the Democratic nominee. So those big states are a wash. Texas will almost certainly go Republican, so Hillary's popular vote win and Barack's delegate win are a wash. Florida's vote was never going to count, so it's a wash. Ohio would be a measure, as a big state and a swing state, so Hillary could claim that one legitimately. Pennsylvania is Hillary's to lose and that state is something of a swing state but even Governor Rendell, a big Hillary supporter, says his state will go to Obama is he's the Democratic nominee. So, really, Hillary has Ohio she can claim for her "big

So Washington and Maine and Vermont and Minnesota are "inbred"? As for Senator Clinton beating McCain in the large states, she is far behind Obama's margin in California. If one is to pay attention to general election polls, which are essentially meaningless at this point, pay attention to all of them.

I voted for neither in the voting in my state. I'd vote for either rather than 4 more years...easy choice.

Is this an April fools gag because the only thing I hear on this site is that Hillary should get the hint and drop out since no one likes her? I dont know what to believe in anymore.

so, in other words, some of the backwards-ass folks in rural parts of ohio (where I'm originally from, btw) and some of the out-of-touch senior retirees in florida would rather have a lying, scheming, coniving leader- even more so than a republican one?

not really a surprise. that being the case, florida and ohio vote "R" and hilary is not gonna win there during a general election *anyway* so... this is news?

Hey trickbunny, if you are from Ohio (and so am I) then you know that the same people who voted for Hillary over Obama will vote for McCain over Hillary. They are called bigots and there are plenty of them in rural Ohio. That is why I cringe every time I hear her argue about winning Ohio in Nov. if she is the nominee. Not to mention the NAFTA debacle. The Republican will cream her with this issue come fall.

Thanks for trashing fellow Democrats in such an eloquent manner. Especially those from 2 of the most important swing states FL & OH. You sound like one of those "elites" who think that only your opinion counts. So, was your big attraction to Obama the way he "unites"? Well, my advice to you is go "unite" elsewhere. You are only hurting your candidate and the Democratic party

Who is really better candidate clearly depends upon who can win 270 out of 538 electoral votes needed in the general election. Let do the math. Since FL & MI are not counted (although Clinton won both states with 44 electoral votes), revised electoral votes needed-to-win in this example would be 247 out of 494 electoral votes in the general election.

Obama won (probable win also included) the following states with 241 electoral votes:

AL, AK, CO, CT, DL, DC, GA, HI, ID, IL, IN (toss-up), IA, KS, LA, ME, MD, MN, MS, MI, MO, NB, NC, ND, OR, SC, SD, UT, VT, VA, WA, WI, WY.

Clinton won (probable win also included) the following states with 253 electoral votes:

AZ, AR, CA, KY, MA, NV, NH, NJ, NM, NY, OH, OK, PA, RI, TN, TX, WV.

Senator Clinton has earned more Electoral College votes than Obama. So, no doubt Clinton will definitely be a better candidate to defeat Senator McCain in the general election.

If nominee is other than Senator Clinton, there is no need to wonder why once again democrats have lost 8 out of 10 presidential elections lased 44 years. Democrats are guilty of picking wrong horse every four years.

Pick Obama and join LOSERS CLUB members with Humphrey (1968), McGovern (72), Carter (80), Mondale (84), Dukakis (88), Gore (00) Kerry (04) and Obama (08).

Pick Clinton and join EXCLUSIVE WINNERS CLUB members with Carter (76), Clinton (92-96) and Clinton (08-12).

Clinton wins!

Dumb. There is zero correlation between the primary and general election in those states. Hillary isn't winning Texas. Duh

Hillary didn't win TX and the only reason she won Ohio is that 100,000 Repubs took Limbaugh's advice and voted for her as she is the one the Repubs know they can beat in November. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT.

Obama won Texas? HAHAHAHA...yeah, and I'm the second coming of Elvis!

Obama lost Ohio because he was caught lying about NAFTA. He also lost Ohio because the white/working c lass of Ohio did not buy Obama's bogus message- even after spending millions on advertising! Think about this...he lost Ohio before the Rev. Wright fiasco..imagine what will happen in Pennsylvania which is just like Ohio and has a greater white population!

Look out!

Hillary fired for lies, unethical behavior from Congressional job: former boss
by Ed Morrissey

As Hillary Clinton came under increasing scrutiny for her story about facing sniper fire in Bosnia, one question that arose was whether she has engaged in a pattern of lying.
The now-retired general counsel and chief of staff of the House Judiciary Committee, who supervised Hillary when she worked on the Watergate investigation, says Hillary’s history of lies and unethical behavior goes back farther than anyone realizes.
Jerry Zeifman, a lifelong Democrat, supervised the work of 27-year-old Hillary Rodham on the committee. Hillary got a job working on the investigation at the behest of her former law professor, Burke Marshall, who was also Sen. Ted Kennedy’s chief counsel in the Chappaquiddick affair. When the investigation was over, Zeifman fired Hillary from the committee staff and refused to give her a letter of recommendation – one of only three people who earned that dubious distinction in Zeifman’s career.
Why?
“Because she was a liar,” Zeifman said. “She was an unethical, dishonest lawyer. She conspired to violate the Constitution, the rules of the House, the rules of the committee and the rules of confidentiality.”

I had also informed Hillary that the Douglas impeachment files were available for public inspection in the committee offices. She later removed the Douglas files without permission and carried them to the offices of the impeachment — where they were no longer accessible to the public.

This is the same old story. In state after state, Sen. Clinton--due to her high profile and name recognition--has almost always led in the polls. Then Obama focuses his resources and talents, introduces himself, and the polls change. It's happening in Pennsylvania (and it'll happen in Florida, if he gets the nomination).

Pair Obama/Webb together and the white voters will come back to the DNC along with full support for Obama from the DNC leaders and the whole party and the Move On.org/527 assault on McCain would bring everyone back home.

The Florida numbers don't surprise me. Obama hasn't campaigned in Florida! Witness what he's done in PA to Hillary's insurmountable lead. Put him and his people on the ground in FLA and they'd change those poll numbers in a matter of weeks.

Well since Clinton has spent the past month or so hammering the lie that FL (and MI) 's delegate problem is ALL Obama's fault, I am not surprised by this. I wondered why she would kneecap Obama in a state w'ed like him to win, and now I see. It is so she can claim that she is "more electable".

Otherwise I am disappointed in how gullible people are. Didn't the Ohio people learn, or do they just like being suckered?

Daily polls mean nothing at all and who ever is out poll picking can find the one they like and post it. I think unless you have some kind of real poll that covers time and trends and not hopeful dailies you are wasting time and space.

Loving all the "doesn't matter" and "so what" and "polls are just a snapshot in time" posts from the Obama people. Turn the polls around and those consistently bring out the "she needs to drop out, she can't win" posts from the same crowd.

These are the same people who've handed victories to Republicans in the last two presidential elections. When Obama gets the nomination, it'll be interesting to see if these two states let their feelings about race trump their own best interest. Will they once again go against themselves and vote Republican?
