Leno And Clinton

Hillary Clinton hit the humor trail Thursday night by dropping in on the "Tonight Show" with Jay Leno. Though she didn't attempt to go joke-for-joke with Leno by dishing out one-liners like McCain and Letterman, Clinton did attempt to score with her own brand of funny. Entering to none other than the theme from "Rocky," Clinton quickly jumped into a gag about her recent historical embellishments: "I was so worried I wasn't going to make it. I was pinned down by sniper fire," she quipped before briefly discussing her 'lapse' with regards to her Bosnia memories. Leno, for his part, dropped in a joke about answering the phone at 3 a.m. before the conversation moved on to the election, Bill's temper, and Florida delegates.

Watch the clip.

More from AP:

Clinton said she was proud of her daughter, Chelsea, 28, who has been campaigning for her. But she said her "stomach is in knots" most days thinking about what she might encounter each day. Chelsea Clinton has fielded some tough questions in recent appearances, particularly about her father's relationship with White House intern Monica Lewinsky. Her response has been that it's none of the questioner's business.

Asked about her daughter telling a voter that her mother might make a better president than her father, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton grinned and said: "She is such a smart young woman."

Leno also asked about moments during the campaign in which the former president has blown up at reporters and others.

"When you're supporting someone you love, you really do take it very much to heart," she said. "I said 'OK, honey, that's all right, we don't have to go get excited about it.' He's doing a great job for me but he does get a little carried away sometimes."

After leaving Bosnia, she met with leaders of Turkey and Greece and in those countries promoted efforts on behalf of international development and democracy. In Istanbul, five years before 9/11, Mrs. Clinton presciently convened representatives of some of the world’s major religions to advance a dialogue about religious reconciliation and ways to counter religious extremism.

Don't you feel small right now. Shame on you cult member. And who are any of you cult members to crizitize Senator Clinton. You belong to a cult. She was over there supporting their people. What in the he!! where you doing????

As has been reported, Mrs. Clinton’s trip to Bosnia included a U.S.O. component with the comedian Sinbad and the singer Sheryl Crow. The helicopters that carried them to performances at American base camps zigzagged just above the trees to avoid potential ground fire, according to Carey Cavanaugh, who was then a State Department official traveling with Sinbad, and helicopters flew alongside to deal with the threat of anti-aircraft fire or snipers. These facts explain why many of us, including the first lady, believed that the conditions on the ground were precarious. We were worried about sniper fire and were prepared to rush off the tarmac when we landed.

In their single-minded focus on the landing in Tuzla, reporters and commentators have omitted any discussion of what Mrs. Clinton accomplished on her trip. In addition to showing support for our troops and for the peace accords in Bosnia, Mrs. Clinton met with Bosnian religious leaders, women and community activists and, when she returned to Washington, was able to give administration officials her firsthand assessment of the nascent reconstruction effort.

"These facts explain why many of us, including the first lady, believed that the conditions on the ground were precarious. We were worried about sniper fire and were prepared to rush off the tarmac when we landed."

------------------

hahahaha, so that justifies making up a lie, because they were "worried" about sniper fire, and because they were "prepared" to rush off the tarmac.

let's revisit hillary's account:

"I remember landing under sniper fire," she said. "There was supposed to be some kind of greeting ceremony at the airport. But instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base." She later told CNN, "There was no greeting ceremony, and we were basically told to run to our cars. Now, that is what happened."

saying there was no greeting ceremony when there was a greeting ceremony = justified, because you were "worried" and "prepared"

saying you "ran with your heads down to get into your car" when you stood there and listened to a child read you a poem = justified, because you were "worried" and "prepared"

furthermore, why hasn't anyone addressed hillary's judgement of bringing her young daughter on the trip if it was so damn dangerous? is that good judgement?

except that her lie about the landing makes the military look bad and now they cant stand her

choke on that one

Lissa Muscatine was the chief speechwriter and Melanne Verveer was the chief of staff for Hillary Rodham Clinton when she was first lady. Muscatine is an adviser to Clinton's presidential campaign.

More interesting than this attempt at saving face is the fact that the media didn't start covering her "misstatements" sooner, as she had been pedaling this story since New Hampshire. Each time the story seemed to grow more dangerous in Hillary's recollection. She was basically being given the benefit of the doubt, but eventually this was bound to come back and bite her. An account by a CBS correspondent on that flight does not come close to matching Hillary's, or her employees, version. In her terse statement once she had been called on this alternate reality, she not only didn't come clean, but she claims that she was wearing a flak jacket. This much is hard to tell as she was wearing a coat that was buttoned. What is clear is that Chelsea was not wearing one. And the two strolled off of the plane together, unprotected by any security detail. So the question then becomes if there was really such a clear and present danger, why was her daughter not perceived to be at risk? I guess when you can send the First Lady if it's "too small, too poor or too dangerous.." then you can certainly put the First Daughter at peril. Is this the message the Clinton's want to convey?

Or did she lie?

It reminds me of Bush at a fund-raiser, looking around the podium saying he was looking for those WMDs that they couldn't find in Iraq.

This isn't a little fib she told. She lied - on several occasions, not just once - to have people believe she risked her life for her country. So that her hologram of "experience" would have some foundation. Truly despicable.

Not funny.

Voting for someone just because she's a woman is as sexist as not voting for someone because they're a woman. You're right, I don't give liars an inch, especially when their lie hits directly on the platform she is running on: Her "experience"

she lies in this repulsive way and ivana and friends are pulling for her, to do what lie her way out of her lies, or joke her way past the people who actually do come under sniper fire and those injured during real wars and conflicts she voted for or supported .... what is wrong with your mind, have you no standards of decency just like the Clintons, or do you hope to sell her a new shoes?

Lingering in my nostrils is the stench of sickness; a sort of perversion of the political soul marked by hatred and anger. Hollow eyed, faces distorted, ready at the keyboard and made up for the camera they come; armed to the teeth with ammunition, some real, some not so real, just blanks. They come, these surrogates, ready to purge the world of all things Clinton, including disciples. Attacking isn't enough; they have dug a hole and have the shovel at hand, ready to throw dirt on the remains. They chant and rally and come together to chortle with glee over their foe's latest woes, the only time their eyes brighten. Without thinking, they possess an uncanny knack to recite her perceived transgressions, although many cannot articulate their own particular savior's accomplishments, those not being necessary because when the opposition is gone, the last man standing doesn't have to have qualifications other than being adored. A tragic deep seated illness of the mind with no cure other than time, familiarity, and in some cases, epiphany; conscience seems to be it's first victim.

She just dismissed the military voters. And she LIED again! Did you catch that? She said was in 80 countries and 'war zones'????

There is a disturbing pattern here: dismiss 'small states', dismiss ' caucuses', dismiss the 'urban' vorters, dismiss the youth vote. The list is long and it reflects the utter contempt the Clintons have for democracy and Americans.

This supposed 'humor reminds me of the sociopath Bush who joked about looking for WMD's. This kind of behavior is inexcusable. If any of us made this kind of joke during the interview process, we'd get the boot and rightfully so.

Do we really want another sociopath in the White House?

I wrote a letter to Hanity as well as to Colmes, separately.I promised to post this letter on the Huffington Post.we shall see what is really going on with Them and Hillary,by their response or lack of response.I think many of you should do the same.
Here's the letter "please read the newsday article written back in February on how Hillary viciously attacked a 12 year old rape victim.the article is called " An early look at how Hillary deals with a crisis" Consider this..she did not have to take the case ,"defending the rapist"contrary to what Wolfson implied.Even when taking the case she did not have to destroy this child by implying she wanted to be raped.she could have gone with the old " My client is a slimeball,yes...but he had a bad childhood" I am writing to all news outlets. This child now an adult needs vindication.I have been disgusted with Fox news for a while now,and I'm a republican. Many feel that Hillary is the real republican candidate and that this is why you have all been helping Hillary to beat Obama. Whether it is McCain or Hillary who wins..you think you win. think again. Now is the time to redeem yourself. After the Bosnia lie and all the others discovered, now is the time to revisit this case, not later when Clinton may be the Dem nominee and actually beat McCain. Please.

To me the most troubling aspect is that she had made the claim at least four times prior. At some point, you Hill supporters need to admit this was nothing other than an outrageous, repeated lie. The sad part is, she could have won plenty of support just by brining that tape out, without the ridiculous sniper fire claim. To me the tape shows a first lady who was doing something few first ladies had ever done. But she wiped all that out by repeatedly claiming she was under sniper fire.

Misspoke? My ass!
