George Clooney sat down the "Today" show Thursday morning to promote "Leatherheads," a screwball football comedy he conceived, directed and stars in. He talked about the lies written about him, the prank he pulled on entertainment news outlets when he stalked his Lake Como lawn with tables amid rumors he was hosting a Brangelina wedding, and beating younger, taller costar John Krasinski at basketball. Read about it here, or watch:

I love a good mistake: "the prank he pulled on entertainment news outlets when he stalked his Lake Como lawn with tables[...]"

Clooney is a stalker, and he does it with TABLES. Has a thing for green grass, too. Scary.

Clooney pranks, but he also takes stands ...

THE SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE SUPERSTAR
Billy Warden

George Clooney or Paris Hilton " who would you rather be?  They"re both, as Paris would delicately put it, "hot."  But allow me to indelicately assume that most of us would be George. There's more to the choice than just looks.

Clooney"s rise corresponds with the upward trajectory of corporate social responsibility, the notion that business can do well by doing good.

Consider: Clooney"s status isn't t the result of hit after hit.  Most of his pictures haven't been blockbusters.  Yet, Time dubbed him "The Last Movie Star." No, Clooney's clout comes from his willingness to turn his convictions into exceptional product.  He wants to use business (movies like "Syriana") to make the world better.

But he doesn"t shake his finger or gloat.  He's a modest maverick.  We"ve embraced Clooney because he represents the ideals many of us reached for after 9/11.  In the Hollywood tradition, he provides a vicarious experience.  Even better, he points out ways to go from vicarious to involved (e.g. lobbying for Darfur).

There will always be organizations in the Paris mode " gunning for what"s good and shiny for them.  But our culture increasingly embraces people and the planet as well as profits.  If a guy from "The Facts of Life" can do it, so can we all.

I can tolerate his movies, but really - he is not at as good as the "kissing-ass media" proclaimed him to be. Simply put , an OVER-RATED ACTOR. He must be 50 years old, and still pranking like a 15-year-old kid. Although, that prank with the PAPz is pure gold.

Why do people relate losing their sense of humor to maturity. Personally I think people without one are just stupid.

Brad is building homes for the needy, fathering & loving children, making great movies, and leaving an enormous footprint of goodwill around the world.

Clooney is -- pranking.

Grow up already!! Nothing more revolting than a ol' dude who hasn't matured.

I don't find much value in comparing people's way of doing good in the world - as in who's better - Brad or George? Really. Just different approaches. Both men are using their fame and fortune to do good in the world. All the best to both of them.

Actually there is nothing more revolting than a person who relates age with the loss of a sense of humor.

Degjack: you're wrong.

George Clooney was one of the leaders in organizing and raising over $30MILLION for victims of 9-11.
George Clooney donated $1MILLION of his own funds to victims of Katrina.
George Clooney has raised millions and donated over $1MILLION to the Darfur cause.

Read a newspaper before you slam someone else for not 'growing up'.

George also involved with ONE.org to raise money and attention to AIDS and poverty in Africa. He was one of the first involved, followed by a lot of others. You mentioned Darfur, he's made a number of trips there along with his father and he's also involved with the United Nations. And he's not 50, he's 46.

George is the most precious feller since Liberace. And no, I don't care what model or
cocktail waitress he is photographed with.

I'm usually not into older guys, but I can see myself making an exception for George... :)

(Marco, if you read this, consider it payback for your Demi Moore comment. :) )
