Politico:

The Nigerian paper This Day reports that the former president all but came out for Obama, speaking to reporters in that country:

We are very interested in the primaries. Don't forget that Obama won in my state of Georgia. My town which is home to 625 people is for Obama, my children and their spouses are pro- Obama. My grandchildren are also pro- Obama. As a Super Delegate, I would not disclose who I am rooting for but I leave you to make that guess.

Carter's endorsement gives Obama character points. They are philisophically different, but Obama has character, so he means what he says.

Jimmy Carter is and always was a fine individual. He has won the Nobel Peace Prize and was a real Nuclear Scientist befor the prase became a joke. He helped to develop the first Nuclear Submarine.

He was also an unknown peanut farmer from Georgia who became Governor and then was elected President of the United States. Because he was a gentleman, he was not able to function in the office of President.

He, of all people, must know that we are headed in the same direction and he must see the similarity.

A Liberal Democrat will not be elected to the Presidency in 2008.

Having Jimmy Carter endorse you is the kiss of death. Hate to say it, but the man has that honorary status in the DNC where they are glad he's done work overseas for the needy, but glad when he's truly overseas.

Oh no, the Clintons are going to throw another tantrum. With every superdelegate vote, they get more pathetic. Just make them go away, please.

Are you talking about a Jimmy Carter endorsement of Obama being a betrayal of the Clintons? Jimmy Carter has never been a fan of the Clintons. He may have had a failed presidency, but he knows who has character and who doesn't. For their part, the Clintons have tried to cut Jimmy Carter out of everything they could, and I imagine there is big time jealousy of both Carter and Gore for getting the Nobel Peace Prize while neither Clinton has a rat's ass chance of doing that.

This is why I love Jimmy Carter, and it has nothing to do with his support for Obama: "He was in Abuja, the paper reports, for the Carter Center awards for guinea worm eradication."

Say what you will about Carter as a president -- he is by far the best ex-president we've had in a long, long time.

and after reading this you can trolley on over to an article about how Bill Clinton has made money hand over fist since his leaving the Oval Office, trading on his former position as President and the connections he made while in office.

Of course one can't blame Bill, he's just following the example of other Republican Presidents that preceded him - Reagan and especially GHW Bush.

It's just positioning them in contrast to Carter puts things in a bit of perspective, doesn't it? Imagine, using power and position to make the world a better place - even if it is one worm at a time...

THe fact that Carter was a horrible president, and that he left office in a less global time kind of leads one to believe he didn't have the oppurtunities to make the change that Bill makes, but yest in your perfect little world, everyone should do as you think they should do.

Hey, you know the Dem libs agree with you with one exception; that is when Jimmmmmy headed up the Commission to ensure legal voting in the UNITED STATES.

Then, for some strange reason, the libs ignored Jimmmmmmmy, as did the MSM.

Damn, hard to imagine why.

Go figure.

Damn, an "endorsement" from Jimmmmmmy.

One would think that with the most reverend Jeremiah Wright that Obama has enough problems.

Obama has really lined up some great endorsements.

Screwy Louie Farrakahn

Al "not so" Sharpton

Rev Wright

Hanoi Jane Fonda

and now Jimma.

Now all he needs is Al "the world is burning" Gore to complete the kook list.

It's amazing the jaw-dropping ignorance of many on this board.

I'd defy you to name an American who has done more good in this world over the past 30+ years. Certainly not Bill Clinton, who used his position and connections to line his own pockets, rather than to make the world a better place.

But go ahead. Continue showing the world what an idiot you obviously are.
