New York Times:

Americans are more dissatisfied with the country's direction than at any time since the New York Times/CBS News poll began asking about the subject in the early 1990s, according to the latest poll.

In the poll, 81 percent of respondents said they believed that "things have pretty seriously gotten off on the wrong track," up from 69 percent a year ago and 35 percent in early 2003.

So 81% of Americans think that the country is on the wrong track? Well, many of us who post here could have told you that back in Nov. of 2000 when the conservative justices on the Supreme Court helped steal the election from Al Gore by stopping the vote count and awarding it to George W. Bush and Dick Cheney. That was the beginning of the end. The rest is history. If justice had prevailed, Al Gore would have been finishing up his second term this year and the world and our country would be in a far, far, far better place than it is now -- economically, politically, and socially.

However, the media wants you to believe that a trial would lose ratings...like the O.J. trial did.

Most of them are up for election again in 2012 and by then, we, the people, have forgotten.

OK, but let's allow the media to focus on the 19% that feels that Bush is acting within the law and can kill at will..........for Jesus.

Shouldn't he, at least, be paying to desensitize us to the deaths of our children for future wars?

Just remember this:

50% of the people now opposed to the illegal war in Iraq were 50% of the people who previously favored it.

The other 50 just need to get Senator Rockefeller to release "PHASE II". He said it was finished and he just doesn't have time to answer questions about it. Now, you telling me that he couldn't have drawn complete silence as he read every word of it at the Obama rally????

BULLSHIT!

Once again the media has gone the extra mile and dug deep to uncovered the news - a public opinion poll number has broken a record that has stood for nearly 20 years, unbelievable!

Congratulations to the NYT/CBS poll staff, their tireless efforts and dogged determination to get to the truth and beyond is an inspiration to us all.

The only polls that mean anything are the ones that voters go to on election day. These pollsters are making a fortune on a daily basis due to the laziness of the media.

That must explain why Karl Rove bragged that he looked at 67 polls a week.

They're meaningless.

Uh huh.

All of you who are among the 19% that thinks the country is on the right track, please raise your hands. Higher, please.
Those of you with your hands up, please stand and proceed to the buses. You will be taken to the reality re-education camps where Fox and Rush are banned. Bon voyage'!

Dem voters either have no memory or appreciation of history.

LBJ's great reign ended in the worst racial riots in our country's history as well as its worst military quagmire; Jimmy's four years of complete ineptitude rank him "second worst" only to LBJ; and the first two years of the Clinton's failure led to the greatest Congressional revolution in history, returning Republicans to majorities in both Houses for the first time in 50 years.

I recall that when LBJ screwed up the Democrats took him to task.

Ike's great reign ended with our involvement in another country's civil war.

Nixon's reign ended up in disgrace.

I'll give Ford credit for freeing Poland

I'll give Reagan credit for more debt than all previous presidents COMBINED.

I'll give Bush 41 credit for not raising taxes... whoops.

I'll give Bush 43 credit for an unnecessary war fought badly and more debt than all previous presidents COMBINDED, including Reagan.

Once again I'll ask you (because you never answer)...how does the fact that the democrats suck make it OK for your beloved republicans to bankrupt and destroy America?

Kemp,

It's pretty glaring how you aren't refering to the last 8 years at all. What has the "greatest Congessional revolution in history" led to? Maybe we should turn the word counter off so you can list all the grand accomplishments of the revolution. Feel free.

Well, if you can read with comprehension, your guy is WORSE than either LBJ or Carter.

The only good news for Bush lovers is that if elected, McCain would most llikely make Bush the second worst president ever.

I wonder how long Carter will continue to be blamed for Nixon's economy.

And Nixon's support for the Shah of Iran.

Its just another indication of this administrations abuse of power, abuse of the trust from the american people, and how this administration has been working for the corporations and the rich, while hiding behind PR slogans of freedom and democracy. The president shows his arrogance smiling while we've been at war for years. Shame on him and the other trying to keep this country in a continual war, while everyone else pays the price. Their actions speak much loader than their words. The country's in a very dangerous situation because of throwing money into a false war for others to profit from, and economic consequences will be much worse than what terrorist could do.

I realize US special ops have a job to do. But killing our supposed allies police forces doesnt help win hearts & minds. I'm not sure why Iraqi troops in "civillian clothes" couldn't move in & use US forces as support.

Police sources in the Shi'ite city said five people had been killed in the predawn operation, including four policemen. They said fighting broke out after U.S. troops wearing civilian clothes entered the al-Jamiya district in central Hilla.

http://www.reuters.com/article/middleeastCrisis/idUSL03615032

The source pointed out the province's police "had not been early informed about the attack".
He noted "a patrol police forces sent to the accident scene clashed with the US troops, and was hit with a rocket fired by backing US helicopter"
"Four policemen were killed and three others wounded in addition to two patrol police vehicles were set ablaze", he added.
The police source said "the helicopter pursued the ambulance rushing the injuried to Hilla hospital and fired a rocket, leaving four policemen wounded".
