Hillary Clinton Advocates "Poverty Czar"

NBC News has learned that in her remarks today, Clinton will call for a cabinet-level "poverty czar," apparently similar to what the King family has been requesting.

Here's an excerpt from Clinton's expected remarks:
"When I say solutions, I mean finally addressing the scourge of poverty that continues to afflict so many of our families in this country. I mean appointing a cabinet level position that will be solely and fully devoted to ending poverty as we know it in America, a position that will focus the attention of our nation on this issue. That's the kind of solution I'm talking about, a solution for which Dr. King's son, Martin, has been such a passionate and effective advocate."

The title "Czar" has gotten all too much bad press. Certainly the 21st Cent. American Czar would not be as bad as Alexander III, but then again would surely need a large staff and a nationwide "poverty" bureaucracy, and would require strong police powers to enforce weath upon the needy. Needless to say, all of the Czar's important directives (and they are all "important") would be happily obeyed by the American peasantry, but those who would not celebrate his generosity would likely be jailed under the many provisions of the "anti-Poverty Laws". Yes, a new "War on Poverty" led by a determined, ideologically fixated, and forceful Czar would be expensive, ineffective, and oppressive. But hey, that's just the sort of thing that goes over big inside the beltway.

I think that "most" of us represent a wide range of demographics, I happen to be in the 40-something, college educated, upper-middle class segment. Go figure. Just think that for all these years that we have had poverty in America, no one even thought of this "solution" to the problem of poverty. All we had to do is appoint a Poverty Czar. Done. Poof! All poverty would have disappeared.
