Renee

Renee Zellweger went on Letterman Thursday night to promote "Leatherheads" when the subject of Tracey Ullman's spot-on impression of Zellweger (on her show "State of the Union") came up. Ullman has said of doing her impression of Renee, "I just put these eyelashes on and tried to think of Lamb Chop from Shari Lewis."

Renee pointed at a picture of Tracey in costume and said of it, "My reason for calling a therapist for the next six months... the reason I'm growing my hair out. Every time I look in the mirror I see Tracey Ullman." She then joked that if she had a twin brother who dressed in drag, that is what he'd look like.

Ullman has funny moments, but I got enough of her when she was doing that fashion and chat show. Tracy Ullman was the worst interviewer on TV until Carrie Fisher got her own chat show. I quit watching after a couple of tries at both shows. I like these gals, but they talk incessantly. They would ask a question, interrupt the answer to ask another, then ask another before the interviewee could answer THAT... It was idiotic. Ullman is a bright comedienne, but she's entirely self-obsessed. Someone on SNL should have done a version of HER as a chic but manic chat show hostess.

actually, renee is being a pretty good sport here.

however, her face, i do believe, have been pumped up with collagen or silicone, as is the current fad in la - la land. just too darn puffy as compared to years past.

So? I talk to my girlfriends about Renee while I'm drying my clothes. Is that a crime?

Zellweger?
Is she on Drugs or that stuff?
Why is that each time she speaks she shakes and twist her face, does she have face ulcer, may be lets ask her former fiacee, I think thats why the gentleman dumped her.

Peace,

Ullman's impression of Zellweger was perfect.

Is is just me, or does Renee seem a little... tipsy? She sounds like she's slurring her words a bit.

I haven't see Tracy Ullman's show yet, so I have no opinion on that aspect. As for the "unfortunate" comment, perhaps she meant that it would be unfortunate if he looked better than her. ;-)

I hated the show, but my wife, who never laughs at the TV was laughing at the Ullman show. Therefore, it sucked.

I'd be willing to bet your wife thinks about as much of you as you do of her.

'unfortunately' dressed in drag?

Yes, "unfortunately." That's precisely the word.

Thanks for you vigilance, but transvestitism is not universally well-received. Uncool as it may be to deride those who are so afflicted, it's a pretty common response. Accordingly, it is often difficult for an man in spaghetti straps to be taken seriously. Therefore, it would be unusual for a parent or sibling to express disappointment over the fact that their son/brother does not typically wear sun dresses and feather boas.

Ouch, getting kinda testy there! I think heyteegs was just pointing out that we typically have a knee-jerk reaction to gender/sexuality issues when they come up, and that maybe we could be less judgmental. I don't think that's such a bad idea; is transvestism such a horrible activity?

Pointing out that its a "pretty common response" states the obvious....my question would be, why let that remain commonplace, and why not point it out when it occurs?

I'd suggest a moment of reflection. Would you like some more vodka with your tonic?

I caught that "unfortunate" line also and found it v. awkward. I know that most actors abhor doing the talk show circuit, the live audience thing terrifies most who do well behind the camera (and only do so b.c. their film contracts require promotion of a project). So part of me wants to think that she just said something stupid rather than something mean. It would be odd if your sibling wanted to dress up AS YOU, but she says twins which would not be him emulating her. She put her foot in her mouth a few times in that clip.

Renee, I'm sure that Ullman would love to have you do a guest spot on the Ullman show as "Ullman".

That would be a hoot.

They can both do more 'perpetual narcissistic squint'.

Acutally it looks like Rene is now going for the Sharon Stone look.

I have always liked Tracey Ullman, but I'm not sure her show of impressions is going to go well. From what I've seen so far, it's just unpleasant to watch.

I completely agree with you.
It was uncomfortable to watch.
It was mean and just not so funny.
A real decline in quality from Ullman's
last series, which was delightful.

People on this blog are incredibly mean. Renee is a great actress and Tracy is a very funny comedian. It's just show business, worry about something important..

If she thinks that is reason enough to call a shrink then she should try walking a mile in my shoes.

Well she's on the right track about the "drag" part.

Renee was married to Kenny Chesney for FOUR whole months before splitting up.
So I don't think she is in any place to judge how anyone else lives their life.
