The New York Times notes that most of the Clinton's charitable contributions went to their own foundation, which has yet to give away much of the money:

During that time, the Clintons paid $33.8 million in federal taxes and claimed deductions for $10.2 million in charitable contributions. The contributions went to a family foundation run by the Clintons that has given away only about half of the money they put into it, and most of that was last year, after Mrs. Clinton declared her candidacy.

Didn't the Obama's gross almost 1M and donate $240,000 to charity? Isn't that, like a quarter of their income? Compared to the Clinton's 9%, which was mostly donated to their own foundation. The first thing I noticed when I started to research my dem candidates this year was that I had finally discovered a candidate that I truly saw as a public servant. That candidate was not a Clinton.

I cannot believe how I, and others globally, have gotten to the point that all picture's and voice's, remark's of the Clinton's physically make me ill. After following this couple's political history for twenty or so year's, I need a holiday from the two most despised people in America. How many thing's do they actually have to harm before people revolt....and dismiss them.

So true northcan! Believe me when I tell you that her recent appearance at the MLK event was a painful experience. We howled with laughter and afterwards felt physically sick at the sight of this woman "tearfully" recounting her response to King's death.

Yeah, but it was Johnson that passed the civil rights bill. At least that was the story 2 months ago from the Clinton camp.

Who gets writing credit for this paragraph of a non-story? Not even a link to a more substantial article? Furthermore, don't you think that Bill and Melinda Gates donate to their own foundation? How do you think foundations are created? Way to make something out of absolutely nothing. It's a shame how this website will elevate and magnify any miniscule morsel of information it receives, and provide no one to take credit for the lousy reporting.

A link to a more substantial article? It was already there in the paragraph. You just didn't know how to find it. Although we are not responsible for those who anger outpaces their Web surfing skills, let me spoon feed you:

When Bill or Melinda Gates runs for POTUS, we will scrutinize who gives and gets their money too!
Public servants are held to a different standard as they are extended the privelege of making ddecisions that impact the quality of lives in very different way than how we use our PC.

The Clintons in their blind ambition to return to power seem to be willing to play fast and loose with the truth.

Either they are prone to exaggeration or outright distortion of the facts and are so fearful of being caught looking weak or timid that they find this desperate need to bolster themselves up and appear constantly strong, compassionate and in control.

So with the aide of a good accountant they can establish a Foundation, which they control and funnel tax exempted money into the Foundation and make it seem like they are making huge contributions to charity.

There is just something terribly deceitful and disingenuous about the way they conduct themselves, I know it is difficult to let your guard down in politics but we need honesty and sincerity right now to disentangle ourselves from the mess that Hillary voted for.

From the Washington Post article referenced by LuoPrincess below:

"Among the institutions receiving grants from the Clinton Family Foundation were Yale University, where both attended law school; groups named for deceased heads of state in Israel and Jordan; and a charity connected to the Arkansas businessman who helped Hillary Clinton make $100,000 on a commodities trade that stirred controversy a decade ago, Internal Revenue Service reports show."

The article was written in late February, 2007. According to the article - as of that time, the Clintons claimed $5 million in tax deductions from contributions to the foundation and it had distributed $1.25 million to the beneficiaries shown above.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/story/2008/04/05/ST2008040502593.html

After earning more than $109 million over eight years, the Clintons took tax write-offs for $10.2 million in charitable contributions. In most of those years, that money was donated to the Clinton Family Foundation, and a portion was distributed to charitable causes.
The family foundation is one of several philanthropic groups that bear the former president's name. But unlike the New York-based William Jefferson Clinton Foundation, which has directed more than $10 billion in corporate money and resources toward slowing the spread of AIDS, addressing climate change, and reducing hunger and poverty, the family foundation is a far smaller and more personal operation.
This charity is based at the Clintons' Chappaqua, N.Y., home. Bill Clinton serves as its president, Hillary Clinton as secretary and treasurer, and daughter Chelsea as a director. None takes compensation.
Between 2001 and 2006, the years for which tax records are available, the family put nearly $6 million into the foundation. The Clintons took a tax write-off for that money even though the foundation gave away less than half that amount -- about $2.5 million. A Clinton campaign official said that trend did not continue in 2007 -- the family moved $3 million through the foundation to other charities.
DONATE, TAX BREAK, BENEFIT YOURSELF...WONDER IF SOLDIERS GET THE SAME DEDUCTION? NOPE I SURE DON'T!

Very interesting post sweetp-I wish the media would cover it in depth-On Sunday's Meet The Press, PA governor & huge Clinton supporter Rendel said that the charitable donations did ideed go to their own foundation, but that this foundation saved the lives of over a million Africans-Nobody challenged his statement-I'm afraid Russert, Dyson, Brokaw, etc., who were on the program simply didn't know the details about this themselves, so everyone watching the show is left believing Rendel's version is true-Please let the t.v. stations in on the reality of the situation, so we're not all victims of the Clinton spin-

You're talking about a different foundation. The Clinton Family Foundation - where the Clinton dollars went - is a different thing from the truly charitable William Jefferson Clinton foundation.

Guess you missed the irony, huh, Clouseau?

Now, for your next trick, give us a really shocking report of how much from the family foundation ended up in the Clintons' own pockets... or doesn't that matter when you're doing innuendo?

Back on your knees with your little magnifying glass.

Lighten up people. It's a charity. It's regulated. If you had lots of money and your own charity who do you think you'd give your money to? Ever hear of the Gates foundation? Where do suppose that money comes from? Duh. Where do you suppose the Rockefeller foundation got it's money? You can rag on the Clinton's all you want, but do it with something that doesn't make you look like fools.

But the difference is the Rockefellers and Gates have earned their money honestly and they are not running for president. Hillary is.....and a good part of the money that the Clintons made is questionable to say the least. And why is it they still refuse to turn in their 2007 tax return? Hillary knew she was running for president years ago.You would think she would have everything that she needed for transparency taken care of by now.......But no!.........., not Hillary cause she does what she wants... when she wants and to hell with everybody else. I don't want someone like that to represent this country!

ANOTHER OF HILL'S FUNDRAISERS IN TROUBLE WITH THE LAW:

"A Texas oilman who's accused of defrauding the Nigerian government by illegally pumping and exporting 10 million barrels of oil is a major fundraiser for Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign.

Kase Lawal of Houston is at least the fourth person accused or convicted of criminal wrongdoing to help finance Clinton's political ambitions since 2000 and the second in her quest for the White House. The list also includes Chinese and Pakistani fugitives and a former Miami lawyer who was convicted of defrauding Cuba.

There's no indication that Clinton's campaign was aware of Lawal's legal problems when it accepted his help in raising more than $100,000, but a McClatchy investigation in the U.S. and Nigeria suggests that her campaign did little to scrutinize the background of one of its top fundraisers.

Jay Carson, a campaign spokesman, brushed off such criticism.

"While no vetting process is perfect, our vetting department does extensive vetting in order to catch any issues with donors," he said. "And to our knowledge, Mr. Lawal is an upstanding member of his community in Houston."
