An October 2006 lung cancer study published in the "New England Journal of Medicine" was discovered to have been funded by a cigarette company, the "New York Times" reported today. The study's findings were controversial, offering an optimistic outlook for the prevention of lung cancer, among other conclusions. Revelations of the study's funding have drawn accusations from the scientific community that the research is tainted.

We're no scientists, but after a quick perusal of the study, we're just not sure what the big deal is.

Alcohol makes you witty and drugs makes you smarter. Who'd thunk it?

Uhhh... this kind of "satire" isn't a very good fit with the HuffPo main page.

Whiskey cures sobriety?
Meth cures material wealth?
Pot cures an inability to just kick back?
Acid cures ATRD (Adherence To Reality Disorder)?
Anal sex cures pregnancy risks?

Those of us who've been posting here since the site's inception, have noticed a dramatic change in approach and control. This site started out as a blog, without much moderation, and as annoying as the paid trolls' intrusions were, at lease everyone got in their fair say. I, personally, hated the troll obstacle course, but I preferred it immensely over the current intrusion.

It's possible that the reason there are fewer paid trolls cruising this site is because of excessive and arbitrary moderation. I'm referring to the Charleton Heston blog, conveniently restricted for whatever reasons (caprice).

Yes, cigarettes cure a lot of things, if death of the subject is factored in.

What's going on that this non-article gets published.
There must be some hot issue somewhere that is not getting addressed.
Could it be no one is allowed to post comments on Charleton Heston's passing?
The man was controversial and the fact that he was a leading NRA advocate could
surely bring out some spicy dialogue. But, no...we get an asinine story of humor about
cigarette smoking. Aren't there any IED (Improvised Explosive Devices) joke stories to tell on
this Sunday morning? I just don't get it.

Yeah, what's up with this non-sense? And, besides, cigarette smoking is just not funny.
