Condoleezza Rice

UPI:

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has exhibited interest in becoming John McCain's vice presidential running mate, a Republican strategist says.

Dan Senor revealed during Sunday's edition of ABC's "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" that Rice has been seeking support to be considered for the No. 2 spot on the Republican ticket this fall.

"Condi Rice has been actively, actually in recent weeks, campaigning for this," Senor said.

Her regular attendance at the Torture Coven meetings along with Cheney and Rumsfeld should put an end to this discussion. With any luck she'll be appearing in front of a tribunal at the Hague, not stomping the country for the #2 spot on the Republican ticket. These neocons never cease to amaze and horrify.

That's the funniest thing I've read all day. Hee-lair-eee-ous!
These people really are insane.

Rice as VP choice, steal another General Election and the Neo Cons are all the way in charge for another 4-8+ years. Cynisism aside this is a terrifying prospect. This is bad news in my opinion.

It's not tokenism when we all know that Condi is neither female or black.

Whomever the GOP's VP candidate will be, they will both have the same

Chief of Staff, David Addington, who will read their mail and approve any

speeches either of them makes, while staying in close touch with Darth.

What has Condi accomplished during all this time?? I don't mean personal accomplishments, but political. She is the worst Secretary of State we ever had.

REALLY???

Did she break up with her long-time girlfriend at Stanford?

Have they sold off their jointly-owned home?

Wow! You mean we just might have a Lesbian VP???????????

"Don't ask, don't tell"....oh yeah..."Do as I say, not as I do"....

Oh, boy....will McCain shake her partner's hand or peck her on da cheek?

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

She should go on the ticket with Hillary. Call it the Strap-On Express"

Ah, another one of the "new electorate."

Of the hundreds of thousands of persons who meet VP requirements, Condi Rice is last on the list of most voters, especially those who are the 81% recently describing the US as on the 'wrong path.'

Given that Condi has been in W's pocket (no pun intended) for these two terms, Condi is less than qualified by any reasonable criteria. Condi, who lied to Congress and is a failed diplomat, should write her book and practice her scales.

And lawyer up -- these latest revelations about the top-level torture approval meetings she, Rumsfeld, Cheney, and others participated in may make Andrew Sullivan's prediction about war crimes indictments more than wishful thinking.

McCain and Condi together? Wow they will definitely nail down the "Incompetence" Vote.

Please let it be Condi, it will be TOO EASY!

(well it would easy no matter what)

It's funny how the neocons think we give Condi more of a pass then the rest of the architects. While some call McCain a warmongerer he just votes and talks, Condi has real world experience.

Voting is where the real power is. However incompetent Condi may have been in helping to plan the war, you can't accuse her of authorizing the use of force, or authorizing the president to ignore the UN by voting down the Levin Amendment. Ultimately it's congress that's in charge. They're the ones with the real power, even more so than the president who they can impeach if he attempts to abuse his power.

Not only is this idea ludicrous, but it makes me wonder if MCain and the GOP aren't trying to send out feelers by releasing this to the media? Anyone else care to comment on this angle?
12:29 PM on 04/07/2008
NU, the timing is weird. Maybe the leak was to distract from our esteemed General's testimony and the heat-up of the war. It would seem very illogical for McCain not to appoint a white male who would appeal to the wingers...could even be a Gary Bauer or one of the fundys; or, Bill Bennett if he lost weight and joined Gamblers Anonymous...

Glad we don't have to worry about an Obama Spitzer ticket

I have a difficult time understanding how Rice could help a Republican ticket. An objective look at her tenure as both National Security Advisor and Secretary of State reveals an anemic performance. As National Security Advisor, Rice allowed herself to be marginalized by Cheney and Rumsfeld and so failed in her deputed role. The National Security Advisor is responsible for synthesizing all intelligence gathered by the various agencies. But, under Rumsfeld and Cheney, alternate intelligence shops were established--shops that simply went around Rice. Her continued relevance--such as it was--was based on a personal relationship with Bush, not any ability as an infighter. As such, her role become little more than loyally confirming Bush's manichean view of good and evil--a simplistic world-view that played easily into the Cheney / Rumsfeld ambitions for Iraq and beyond. As Secretary of State, she has consistently failed to seize opportunities--the comminque from Saudi Arabia crticizing Hezbollah after they breached the Israel / Lebanon border--comes to mind. Indeed, stubbornly refusing to confront Bush's equally stubborn refusal to engage countires like Syria and Iran does not speak to her understanding of the process of diplomacy--just the opposite. Ultimately, Rice's tenure in the White House has witnessed a terrible shift in the American relationship with much of the world. And Rice is responsible for much of this. All this said, why would McCain choose to embrace such an intimate of Bush? Why would voters?

She should run with Hillary. They are both LIARS.
12:19 PM on 04/07/2008
What a dream team that would be, especially considering one liar would be wearing the same pantsuit every day and the other liar would be wearing more stylish attire.

Ok, let's see. Nominate a nearly dead, geriatric, senile war hero. No need to bother making him functionally incompetent (like Reagan it will come with age, as opposed to Bush which came with cowboy boots). McInsane goes kaput. They have Condi. She ignores all the signals (since that's her speciality), and boom! World War III and Armageddon -- just like her good book says.

Its all written you know.

This country is already in a handbasket, and we're half way to hell.

Not surprised. Put Bush's handjob lady a heartbeat away from a 71 year-old Alzheimer's President.... Makes perfect sense if you're into hastening LaHaye's Armageddon.
12:08 PM on 04/07/2008
That would be perfect. It would cement the fact that McCaine wants to carry out a third Bush term. Keep goin' and we could be a third world, authoritarian country.
