GOP Strategist: Condoleezza Rice Campaigning For VP Slot

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has exhibited interest in becoming John McCain's vice presidential running mate, a Republican strategist says.

Dan Senor revealed during Sunday's edition of ABC's "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" that Rice has been seeking support to be considered for the No. 2 spot on the Republican ticket this fall.

"Condi Rice has been actively, actually in recent weeks, campaigning for this," Senor said.

I think this is a non-starter. John McCain is trying to trick people into thinking that he offers a change from Bush -- adding Condi Rice to the ticket isn't going to help. And talk about someone with a credibility problem -- hers is really bad.
And frankly, I don't think the Repugnicans are ready to get that funky just yet. A single Black woman of a certain age? Not in the cards.

mccain will do some polling and find out there's no way he can win with condi.

condi's job performance has been abysmal. and it can be easily proven. I think the dems could pounce on that issue and really sway people's minds. especially given mccain's age.

I suspect this is a trial balloon to see if Condi would help or hurt the ticket (not that anything can help John McBomb and the Repukes this year). My hunch is that it would hurt the Repukes more than help -- the Bubba portion of the "base" would never vote for a black woman. A lot of them already think McBomb is "too liberal" and a black woman on the ticket would be the last straw.
