Think Progress:

Appearing on Fox News Sunday this morning Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) repeated the false claim that Muqtada al-Sadr declared the ceasefire in Basra last week, which he pointed to as proof that Sadr didn't "think he was winning" the battle in Basra. He also said that the Iraqi army performed "pretty well":

It was al-Sadr that declared the ceasefire, not Maliki. ... With respect, I don't think Sadr would have declared the ceasefire if he thought he was winning. Most times in history, military engagements, the winning side doesn't declare the ceasefire. The second point is, overall, the Iraqi military performed pretty well. ... The military is functioning very effectively.

I'm kind of worried about Senator Mcgrandpa. At one time I was thinking about supporting him if my candidate did'nt get the nomination. But I realized I'd have to bite the bullet and back the democrat. Supreme's are to important

John McCain should be cut some slack as he is only reading the false reports given to him by his Neo Con handlers.

Unlike Hillary, JW McBomb usually doesn't know he's lying.

Reality gets very flexible at JW's age and mental condition.

The Iraqi resistance is just trying to get the US occupation out of Iraq. As soon as we leave they will be able to form a true government.

McCain and the rest of the military only spread disinfo, and outright lies to the public. The sad thing is, the longer we stay in Iraq, they more vulnerable our country becomes.

John, we are beginning to have serious doubts about your integrity and truthfulness. On several occasions, even after being corrected, you persist in promulgating and perpetuating lies -- statements that you know to be false. What gives? What's up with you? Why won't you admit the simple truth? Are you like Bush who refuses to accept reality and will only listen to those who tell him what he wants to hear? Why do you persist in perpetuating falsehoods? Are you losing your mind or is it deceit? Either way, it's not good.

This is what happens when you have a gutless, soft press who's in bed with McCain. After a BBQ that is

During presidential elections, the mainstream press always seems to lean to the right. When Kerry was swiftboated in 2004, why didn't the press focus its attention on Bush's pathetic military record? Instead they had countless discussions on Kerry's military record which was far superior to that of the Bush. How kind of them to spare Bush. Hypocrites.

the fact that this man could be elected in nov. scares the crap out of me. if he hadn't had extensive notes i'd be willing to bet he wouldn't even have remembered half the stuff he talked about on his biography tour.

The follow-up question, then, becomes, who's in charge in Basra, today, jerk?
