Politico:

Mark Penn isn't the only Hillary Rodham Clinton supporter on the wrong side of the Colombia trade agreement.

The Democratic-leaning advocacy firm the Glover Park Group, former home to Clinton campaign spokesman Howard Wolfson, signed a $40,000 per month contract with the government of Colombia in April of 2007 to promote the very agreement that Clinton now rails against on the presidential campaign trail.

That means Glover Park Group was arguing the same position on the free trade agreement as has Penn, the contentious Clinton strategist and Burson-Marsteller chief executive who lost his campaign job over the weekend after The Wall Street Journal revealed that he'd met with Colombian officials to plot strategy on the pact.

Several other Glover Park employees have deep connections with the Clintons, including founding partner Joe Lockhart, who served as the White House press secretary under President Bill Clinton, and Joel Johnson, who was a senior communications adviser in the Clinton White House.

Six employees of Glover Park Group contributed a total of nearly $20,000 to Clinton's campaign in 2007, according to data kept by the Center for Responsive Politics.

Wolfson, who is set to take over many responsibilities from the departing Penn, resigned from Glover Park last year to avoid conflicts of interest but retains an equity interest in the firm.

Is Hillary's camp trying to implode or what. This is crazy stupid beyond belief. Could these guys really think this was OK, no conflict of interst. Does Hillary expect us to believe she didn't know? I feel like they have all just totally insulted the inteligence of the american people and expect to get away with it. Do they realize she has a credibility issue??

Amazing. The Clinton campaign spreads stories in Ohio that Obama's people are telling the canadians that he's not REALLY against NAFTA, but after she wins the primary we find out that HER people were the ones to meet with Canada first. Now we find her advisers once again working actively with a foreign government on an agreement she supposedly opposes. She learned well from Slick Willy. Say you're with the working people to their faces, while picking their pockets on the sly.

How can all of this fly under the radar of the MSM? This has the impact to implode Hillary's campaign and yet it's buried within blog sites. They push these relevant issues aside, but why do I feel that if this were all coming from Obama's camp that the media would be all over it demanding that he drop out. Anyone who still feels that the media is biased against Hil is just spouting sour grapes because these trade deals involving chief members (former and present) of the Clinton camp should be front page news.

Ohio angel you are correct.

That is why the Republicans want her to win the nomination. They are willing to bring out all the dirt on the kitchen table. If memory serves me right, they despise the Clintons. I want her to win the nomination so the American people can wake up. Although I am Obama supporter, her affiliations must be exposed for the last time. Do we really think Karl Rove is going to let this one go? NO way! The media is biased. Many of them do not want Obama to be the next President. They made a great deal of $ under the Clinton regime. I was a former Clinton supporter who did the research, and did not allow the media to manipulate my decision.

As a former New Yorker, I know what she has not done for NY residents. She won the Senate seat by default. They bullied the former westcheser county prosecutor out of the race by using her husbands scandals to scare people from viewing her as electable Democratic candidate. And Jeanine was a great prosecutor, who had the right connections to revitalize upstate NY. Even Giulliani and his policeman attitude, would of been a better candidate, but his prostate cancer kept him out of the race. Again I want Senator Hillary to win the nomination, so the truth about her and husband hit news stands and end their regime forever.

Another day, and this goes on to accentuate more of Hillary's lies. You don't think she KNOWS? You don't think she is aware of who is working for her? You don't think she knows what they are doing? And you still want her to be president? Or, worse - of COURSE she knows! Of course she knows who is working for her and what they are doing, which means that she continues, daily now, to be nothing but a LIAR, and you STILL want her as president? Your credibility is as low as hers. You can bash Obama all you want, because you can no longer be taken seriously. You don't want the professor of the constitution. You want the one who is willing to go against it! So, you must already be satisfied with Bush. Here is how much we can trust the pathological LIAR Hillary:

"Zeifman fired Hillary from the committee staff and refused to give her a letter of recommendation – one of only three people who earned that dubious distinction in Zeifman’s 17-year career.

Why?

'Because she was a liar,' Zeifman said in an interview last week. 'She was an unethical, dishonest lawyer. She conspired to violate the Constitution, the rules of the House, the rules of the committee and the rules of confidentiality.'"

Just think! People will vote for Hillary no matter what she does but they will not vote for Obama because he did not put his hand over his heart. The man was born and raised in Hawaii and Indonesia. I cannot remember the last time kids have recited the pledge of allegiance in school.

Actually, FYI, it WASN'T the Pledge of Allegiance. Another lie they spread about Obama. It was the Star Spangled Banner (or something similar). But your point is well taken, even if it had been the Pledge it's a petty, petty thing to focus on.

whoever that cannot see that Hillary is the strongest candidate and the only democratic candidate that can win in November is living in a world of falsehood. If Obama gets the nomination please blame yourselves for throwing away our chances for the White House, also blame the media for manipulating and controlling you like cattles. HILLARY OR BUST. DON"T MAKE THE 2000 MISTAKE. OBAMA IS NADER AND CLINTON IS GORE.

What's really annoying with Hillary supporters like you, is that they keep assuring the rest of the world that Hillary is the best candidate withouit having a single argument to back it up except that Obama is not the best candidate. Your arguments are simply too weak to be taken seriously.

Clinton is a liar, a cheat, corrupt, fake and phony but none of that matters because she's a woman.

I still have friend that is convinced hillary is the best choice because Bill Clinton will help her make decisions...She refuses to read on the issues and is going on name recognition only.

Talkingpoint

If true then why isn't she winning the primary?

The clinton name, the clinton money, and the clinton political machine has been pushed into the loosing position

Your argument is completly flawed in that if she was the only one who could win the general then she would be in fact winning the primary.

Once again, Im befuddled by Clinton's supporters, who, after reading about their mismanaged campaign and the above article are still willing to stick with them and all their corruption. No wonder we're in the mess we're in, after we had Bush for four years and all the messes he created in his first term in office, people STILL gave him four more years to continue to screw up the country. Amazing!

Poor, delusional talkingpoint. Maybe you haven't had your meds today. To bad your ears don't work and you are no longer able to read. To bad your facility for critical thimking has gone on the fritz. To bad you will vote an abhorent two-faced liar into the Whitehouse. A cheater, manipulator, liar, conniver. Why? Why is this LIAR the best candidate? Hillary or bust? Go ahead. Don't get any on the walls, rubber though they may be.

More ties to Colombia. What the heck is going on with her? She is working behind the scenes with foreign governments, before she is even the Democratic nominee and she is not telling anyone about it. How many other foreign Governments is she negotiating with? How many foreign Governments have been promised favors by Bill, since he has so much income from foreigners? She is looking more and more like Bush every minute.

Welcome to the new season, ...

Strike One!, ... for Mark Penn, ... Hillary then spits into her palm, and swings the bat over her shoulder to regain her stature, ... her eyes on the outfield seats, ... the smell of resin and sweat on the Colombian made baseball bat.

Strike Two! ... for Howard Wolfson, soon to be late of the Clinton Campaign, ... pride of Glover Park. Beads of sweat appear on the designated hitter's carefully plucked brow, ... and the batting coach, ... Slick Willy, seems to share in his hitter's precarious predicament.

How could she have swung at such a pair of sucker ball pitches as these two threw? Oh, ... that's right, thinks Slick Willy, ... I taught her when to swing! I just prayed that nobody would ever read their stats!, ... He thinks to himself, as his last batter faces the next pitch.

What do they say on ESPN, ... "There is no tomorrow!" Swing away, Hillary! Swing away!

It's just one cozy relationship between the Clintons, their lobbyist friends and the Colombian Government.

"The Uribe regime, after all, continues a chummy friendship with Bill Clinton, granting him the government’s “Colombia Is Passion” Award last June. That, during the same 2007 spring when former vice president Al Gore cancelled his appearance at a Miami environmental conference because he did not want to share a podium with Uribe, the hemisphere’s poster boy for state-sponsored terrorism, narco-trafficking, and assassinations of opposition political, labor and social movement leaders. Angela Montoya, representing the awards committee, told AP that former president “Clinton is Colombia’s best tourism minister because every time he opens his mouth to talk about the country he’s helping to improve our country’s image without even realizing it.”

Just a sample of what the U.S. "War on Drugs" to the tune of $2 billion/yr does.

http://www.zmag.org/content/showarticle.cfm?ItemID=2104

.
"As is well-known, the “drug war” provides the recent justification for support for the security forces and (indirectly) their paramilitary associates in Colombia. With the same justification, US-trained forces, and mercenaries from US corporations that employ ex-military officers, carry out “fumigation,” meaning chemical warfare operations that destroy crops and livestock and drive peasants from their devastated lands. Meanwhile the street price of drugs in the US does not rise, implying that the effects on production are slight, and the prison population in the US explodes to the highest recorded level in the world, far beyond other industrial societies, largely as a consequence of the “drug war.” It has long been understood that the most effective way to deal with the drug problem – which is in the U.S., not in Colombia -- is education and treatment, and the least effective by far is out-of-country operations, such as chemical warfare to destroy crops and other CI operations. Funding is dramatically in inverse relation to effectiveness, and is unaffected by failure to achieve the claimed goals.

This is almost beyond belief, unless you thought Barack was lying when he said our Gov't was controlled by lobbyists.

If the MSM doesn't run with this as much as possible to expose this crap, and if Americans subsequently aren't fed up enough to finally take back control of our country... Well, I really don't have an answer.

Normally, this would have a small impact, but in the context of Penn's resignation, it is devastating. Expect headlines for the next two weeks of the type Clinton Campaign in Crisis. I really see a chance now of taking Pennsylvannia. Then end of the democratic race could be 14 days away.

I can not vote, ... but as a PA Indie, ... I can promise you PA Democrats will deliver Hillary a distinguished and unforgettable upending to her candidacy. For her willful and flagrant disregard to our brothers and sisters who have lost thousands of PA jobs over the last decades, ... and her secretive collaboration with Lobbyists in Her Own Campaign who represent the interests of nations who have taken good jobs from us in Pennsylvania, ... and Ohio, and Indiana, ... and across This Nation!

The votes of the Keystone State will be like warning flares into the faces of Hillary and Bill, who together pretend the American Electorate are ignorant fools! We ask you both, ... "Who do you believe yourselves to be, that you are better than such servants of the People of this Nation as Lincoln, and Jefferson, ... and Washington? You are not fit to eat in their kitchen, nor lie in their beds. "

We need to begin again. The way to start, ... is to send the Clintons packing with their money, and connections to overseas interests, ... and in November, ... to send McCain into permanent retirement from America's political system.

The next president of this Nation must come to the World and to this Nation's People, in humility. A time of reparations must begin.

Our sacred Government of, by and for the People must be reclaimed by our individually proclaiming our will in the coming National Election, ... And then, ...

Agreed

With quite a few polls showing a tie in Penn if not within margin of error, this is just going to turn off the unionized blue collar workers of Penn that Hillary was relying on.

Not sure if they will go Obama or just stay home, but an unexpected win in penn is looking more and more likely

Columbia exports what? Cocaine. The U.S. military has been in Columbia for how many decades now, fighting against one of the drug gangs to eliminate them and protect the other drug gang -- that being the government of Columbia. Which presumably pays someone in the U.S. generously for us providing goons and muscle to protect their drug trade. And how much of their drug money ends up invested with the boys on wall street?

And then the U.S. invades Afghanistan to try to what? Bomb the rubble? Or take control of the poppy/heroin trade in that region of the world as well? Kind of like how the U.S. invaded Vietnam in Southeast Asia, when that was the center of heroin trafficking in the world, and sprayed defoliant everywhere to destroy their products and presumably enhance the products of "our" drug growers in Mexico and south America.

Just a coincidence, I'm sure.

What is the bordering country north of Colombia? The answer is Venezuela.
What does Venezuela has a lot of? The answer is oil.

That is why we are in Colombia.

There are also large natural gas reserves in the Andes Mountains region.

Look up Noam Chomsky's writings about this and the war on drugs.

War on drugs is a farce.
