Clinton Hospital

ABC's Political Punch:

The New York Times had a real attention-grabbing story over the weekend indicating that Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, had been irritating an Ohio hospital by telling a false story about a poor, pregnant woman denied health care.

"The hospital said, 'Well, you don't have insurance,'" Clinton said. "She said, 'No, I don't.' They said, 'Well, we can't see you until you give $100.' She said, 'Where am I going to get $100?' The next time she came back to the hospital, she came in an ambulance," Mrs. Clinton continued. "She was in distress. The doctors and the nurses worked on her and couldn't save the baby."

Protected by sharpshooters, Hillary Rodham Clinton swooped into a military zone by Black Hawk helicopter Monday to deliver a personal "thank you, thank you, thank you" to U.S. troops....But this was a day of celebration and celebrities - a day for the U.S. troops helping to uphold the Bosnian peace accord. Mrs. Clinton hosted a USO show with comedian Sinbad and singer Sheryl Crow and briefly addressed the gathering....But the highlight of her trip were visits to two fortified posts outside the U.S. base in Tuzla. Even President Clinton, restricted to the base by bad weather in January, did not see as much of this war-wracked region as Mrs. Clinton did Monday....Riflemen rushed to the brush line as the helicopter landed and surrounded her as she walked into the post. Located in a "separation zone," the U.S. outpost nestles between two tree lines. Just months ago, one was Serbian territory, the other Bosnian. Security was tight - fighter jets accompanied her C-17 cargo plane to Tuzla...Lexis - By RON FOURNIER, Associated Press, March 25, 1996

Hillary is seen as a liar and nothing is going to change, majority of voters don't trust her. She needs to stop telling stories and then she wouldn't find herself in these kinds of situations. Just tell the voters what you are going to do and stop trying to tell sob stories.

PERCEPTION IS OFTEN REALITY

When you're perceived by a majority of Americans as a habitual liar (because of your past lies that have been exposed)... Sorry, you're always going to get the kind of scrutiny Mrs. Clinton is now seeing.

90% of reality is perception, and unfortunately, many Americans view Mrs. Clinton as a liar.

It could be arugued that some in Mrs. Clinton's campaign may perhaps view her as a liar, as well.

Case in point: If those in decision making positions within her campaign adamantly believed that her hospital story was 100% accurate, they would have NOT pulled the speech from her stump so quickly.

Unfortunately, because of her past goofs (and because no one in the campaign bothered to vet the story properly), there was another knee-jerk reaction, and they pulled the story.

That speaks volumes on how some within the campaign view Mrs. Clinton's propensity to embellish.

Sorry... Anyway you slice it - Mrs. Clinton has a HUGE, if not insurmountable, CREDIBILITY issue with many Americans.

More importantly - SHE and she alone has made her CREDIBILITY an election issue!

When do you believe her, when do you not?

You can't spin that.

There is another point to this story. It has been reported that when HRC was VP. the senate would have voted for a bipartisan bill that would have greatly increased healtcare . Hillary refused to work with even many of her own party to get this done. She chose instead to "fight " for her own version and instead got nothing. That many have suffered since because they lack healthcare is also true .

This is not the only time Hillary Clinton has been damned by the Press.
Since the word is out all over the country is anyone going to unring the bell.

Who is going to look back and tell the American people 'oops'.

They allowed Bush to steal the election now they have chosen King Obama and no matter what the truth is they don't care.

Where are his records from Chicago, what do we know about him except what he is telling us?
Today we hear his Grandmother was NOT BIGOT. or a Typical White Person. This man does not even have a conscience.

Stop the bus before it is too late!!!!!

Well i can speak for myself and say i know as much about Obama as is possible to know about someone I haven't met. Which school he went to, where he went after college, after Harvard. What his achievements were as Illinois state senator, and then as national senator, all while also serving as a constitutional law professor of Chicago University.

"what do we know about him except what he is telling us?" Well, if all we did know about him was what he has been telling us, then that would be a problem wouldn't it? But that's not all that we know of him, and for you to pretend like that is the case is disingenuous. I know what Hillary's been telling us about what she did in Bosnia and Ireland, and she's been caught red handed lying. Please enlighten to any lies from Obama that measures in audacity to Hillary's lies.

And please don't compare Bush to Obama. I will counter you with the fact that the uneducated voting constituents formed a large bloc of voters that voted GWB in. These are exactly the same kind of voters that Hitler attracted. HRC's is also attracting these voters. Obama attracts the high information voters. That's why he wins caucuses all the time, right? Of course, making such general statements about one facet of a complex jigsaw is too easy, and does a disservice to a serious discussion.

You know, I have come to the conclusion that all this garbage where hes as transparent as glass and yet people can still write "we dont know him" is racially motivated. I 've been thinking about this. Not "racism", b/c I think racism involves animosity - but something more instinctive.

If everyone were honest (which it seems many of the Clinton supporters have a confused defination of that) they would realize we as people have an ingrained instinctual reaction to be suspicious of anyone outside our own group. We are afraid they might think differently or have different values, or that they might mean us harm.

So I think this is the "gut reaction" of a lot of white people to Obama. I beleive that i had the reaction myself, a deep, instinctive suspicion. Fortunately, I am also intelligent. So I was able to back away and look at him objectively as a candidate, without letting an instinctive primitive reaction cloud my judgement.

I AM civilized, after all, and isn't that what being civilized is about? Getting past your inner caveman?

So, you seem to be having problems getting past your own inner caveman. Here is my advice. Look in the mirror and carefully consider the cause of your fear. Use your mind and objectivity and step back. Have you evolved or not?

WOw , so people who don't support Obama are either ignorant, racist or both? THat's a pretty egotistical way of looking at things. "I like OBama, so naturally anyone who doesn't must have something wrong with them"

When you want to trumpet your own intelligence, you might want to correctly spell definition and perhaps use a little better sentence structure...

I just have to repost this comment from yesterday just to show how prescient I was.

"Even if the story turns out to be "technically" true, it's still a lie because Hillary had the date wrong and some other stuff. Besides, Jake Tapper wrote this piece and he's the guy who lied about Barack sneaking a cigarette, which could never happen a) becausre Barack has more self-control than that and b) Barack, like George Washington, cannot tell a lie."

The YouTube moment of the year happened this morning on Morning Joe. Pat Buchannan gave Hillary his ultimate compliment on her toughness. "She reminds me of the ole' man, Nixon...."
I have been saying for months that Hillary is Nixon in a pants suit and today Pat confirms it! I do not know how to put a TV clip on YouTube but this is priceless.

Pat always uses a lot of hyperbole for shock value. I believe simply McCain in a pantsuit would be more descriptive and more accurate.

Nixon was younger when elected to his first term. He was also much more experienced having served both in the House and as Vice President, although the didn't possess the stunning credentials of being First Lady. He also had actual military experience as an officer rather than simply a USO tour celebrity.

We are really slow in this country, aren't we? Israel had Golda Meir years ago. India had Indira Ghandi. Pakistan had Bhutto. Socially and politically retarded.

I don't see it headlining the front page as they normally do with negative Clinton stories, clear across the page and with boldfaced print and illustrations.. The Darth Vader picture on the earlier story for which it was inappropriate was odd too. I like to think Arianna isn't in charge of such decisions.

I finally found the WashPost/ABC News story correction here - quite far down the page, below the Rob Lowe blackmail story and with only text headline, no picture, no highlighting.

Although I think she didn't believe it to be untrue, she simply didn't exercise the good judgement to find out if it was or not.

" a closer examination of the story Clinton was originally told indicates that while Clinton erred slightly in relaying the tragic tale, that doesn't mean it's not fundamentally true. On that, the jury is still out."

There's no need to apologize.
First of all, there are massive holes in the man's story. Secondly, she didn't even re-tell the same story. She altered it to make it "more dramatic". In doing so, she changed a story which was questionable in to an outright lie.

http://hillbuzz.blogspot.com/2008/03/hillary-in-bosnia-news-accounts-from.html

News reports from 1996 support Hillary Clinton's experiences in Bosnia. Escorted by gunships in an armored helicopter, Hillary Clinton toured two fortified bases in what was a dangerous fighting area at the time.
Hillary's trip to Bosnia marked the first time since Eleanor Roosevelt that a first lady traveled to a potential combat zone. Accompanied by singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow and comedian Sinbad, Mrs. Clinton traveled to this northwestern Bosnian town on a morale-boosting tour for the 18,500 U.S. troops participating in the NATO-led peacemaking operation. She heard a poem of peace from a Bosnian girl and praised U.S. troops for 'showing what American leadership is.'...This trip to Bosnia marks the first time since Roosevelt that a first lady has voyaged to a potential combat zone. During World War II, Roosevelt toured the devastated streets of London and the southwestern Pacific, bringing cheer to U.S. troops. [Washington Post, 3/26/96]

Hillary was 'protected by sharpshooters' in a 'military zone' when she visited troops in Bosnia. "Protected by sharpshooters, Hillary Rodham Clinton swooped into a military zone by Black Hawk helicopter Monday to deliver a personal 'thank you, thank you, thank you' to U.S. troops.

I think you're missing the point. It has nothing to do with insurance.

The woman went to a hospital (the second one) because she was having issues with her pregnancy. They saw her, stopped the labor, and told her to come back in 2 days. They may or may not have misdiagnosed her condition, but that has absolutely nothing to do with insurance or money.

I don't think this gentleman has the medical background necessary to evaluate the situation and his comment that if she had good insurance she would have received better care is ridiculous. A hospital is a hospital. Period.

The question is whether insurance would have allowed her to be admitted and followed more closely?

Without insurance, she would be given the minimum allowed by law, at the most. With insurance, she most likely would be given the maximum allowed by the insurance company. Remember, it's all about the money.

This story still hurts Clinton because the court of public opinion has already decided that she is not trustworthy and is a liar. Hillary is not getting the benefit of the doubt after her Bosnia fabrication. She needs to be extra careful about what she says to make up for all the "misstatements" she's already been guilty of.
