David Vitter Car Crash: Watch The Video

Sen. David Vitter has been having a rough week, and it's only Monday. First, he was listed as a potential witness in the trial of former D.C. Madam Deborah Palfrey. Then, he attempted to scoot out of a town hall forum to avoid questions from the press about his alleged relationship with Palfrey's escorts. The Gonzales Weekly Citizen reports:

A car carrying U.S. Sen. David Vitter ran into a No Parking sign in the Gonzales Police Department parking lot Monday morning as the senator was attempting to evade members of the media, including the Gonzales Weekly Citizen, following a Town Hall forum event at Gonzales City Hall.

No one was injured in the incident, but the car - in which Vitter was a passenger - sped away from the scene with visible, but light damage following the wreck.

Yeah it's not the high end of journalism, but when people who use morals as a political blade to harm and judge others I think we as people deserve to see when the hypocrisy boomerangs back on them. His choice to run from the press, moving violation and all, shows that he is a coward who hides behind the bible in a most un-Christian way. That needs to be exposed at all turns.

Vitter has some issues, clearly. But again, this is no more a "republican" problem that Spitzer was a "democrat" problem. It's more of a politician problem.

When this happens the inevitable question of, "what's wrong with prostitution" comes up. THIS is what's wrong with prostitution. People don't approve. Spouses and families don't approve. Constituencies don't approve. So it has to be done in secret. It turns people into liars. They hide everything they do, and they become incredibly selfish, letting the sexual satisfaction trump every other relationship of trust in their life.

ANY PUBLIC OFFICIAL involved in prostitution or adultry should be pressured to leave office. When in such a postion, it isn't "just sex". It speaks to the very trust and accountability of the person holding office. If they are selfish enough to do something so destructive, they are selfish enough to make decisions soley based upon personal political gain, forgetting about the people that voted them into office. That's my story and I'm sticking to it...unles­s you can convince me otherwise?

We're not going to solve this problem by making it a disqualifier in the political arena. It's so much larger than that. It's not called the "world's oldest profession" for nothing. It's an outgrowth of so many lingering neuroses in our sexual attitudes, and without question it is exploitative, but the sexual urge has trumped many a man's mental capacities. It's a problem for all concerned, but it shouldn't be fatal. It's a sign that there's a serious need for counseling, to be sure, but I bet if everyone in government was honest for just one day about this matter and we kicked out everyone who's committed at least one offense, the wheels of state would grind to a screeching halt.

What am I doing? I can't get all serious after watching this stupid video. Let's table the real arguments for now, and laugh at the nutball.
