Daniel Radcliffe To Make Nude Broadway Debut In September

NEW YORK — Harry Potter is headed to The Great White Way.

Daniel Radcliffe, the star of the "Harry Potter" movies, will make his Broadway debut on Sept. 5, playing the disturbed stable boy in a revival of Peter Shaffer's play, "Equus," it was announced Tuesday.

Radcliffe, 18, earned rave reviews for his performance in the London production of the Tony Award-winning play. He also received loads of media attention for appearing naked onstage _ a departure from his wholesome image as the bespectacled boy wizard in the big-screen adaptations of J.K. Rowling's best-selling fantasy novels.

"Equus" begins previews Sept. 5 for a limited 22-week run at the Broadhurst Theatre. The play opens Sept. 25-Feb. 8, 2009. Thea Sharrock directs.

Richard Griffiths, who portrays Harry's mean Uncle Vernon in the "Potter" movies, reprises his London role as the psychiatrist who treats the stable boy, who has blinded six horses.

Saw the pictures of Radcliffe online when he was doing "Equus" in London. I don't blame the guy for baring all. He has a WHOLE LOT to be proud of! Let's just say he definitely had his own horse-like qualities...

Americans are such PRUDES--our whole country was founded by prudish pilgrims and Christian right-wingers that were basically thrown out of liberal Europe, so it's no surprise that there is such a negative reaction to human nudity. Me on the other hand, love nudity, especially male nudity.. wink... wink

Why do so many feel that there is something unwholesome about being nude or appearing onstage nude? Granted, if he were doing pornography, that could be described as "unwholesome", but appearing nude in a stage production of Equus? Why are we such prudes when it comes to the unclothed human body? I'm also sure that the seats will fill up quite fast with young girls whose only interest in seeing the play will be to catch a glimpse of what the British refer to as his "naughty bits." Oh, and I've seen those nude photos of Radcliffe. He's a handsome young man with nothing to be ashamed of at all.

Saw one picture of the British version, he looked uncut to me. Circumcision isn't a Euro habit like it is in the States.
