Senator Clinton and John McCain chose to sit and listen intently to the hearings with General Patreus today. I guess Obama is too fidgety for that. He'll waltz in later. This does not forbode well for what might be his presidency. What's the problem? Is he too good for this? Clinton, no matter how tired she was, sat there and did her duty as a concerned, patriotic citizen and asked thoughtful, intelligent, informed questions of the general. So maybe Obama went out for a smoke, maybe listened to what Clinton and McCain had to say, and then figured out how, nice and well-rested, he could out-do them. This should be interesting.

Personally, I am interested in hearing what Joe Biden has to say more than Barack Obama. Joe Biden has the experience and the trips to Iraq to really know what he is talking about. Why the hell is he not a contender? To me he would make a much better president than Obama.

Um, first of all, Obama -- unlike Clinton & McCain -- is not on the Armed Services Committee. He is on Foreign Relations, whose hearings were after these. Second, McCain left after making his statements/questions.

this is the problem with this country because people like you are misinformed. Its no way Mccian can be president! Mccain is very flawed. the only reason why he is close to obama and barely above hillary is that dems are fighting right now. However once primary its over the polls are going to shot up for dems candidate and mccain going to be a GOP sacrificial lamp. GOP know they shot their load when bush was elected twice.

However people have to stop being misinformed and stop making dumb comments. also remember people around the world are paying attention to our election. We have been looking stupid to world for a long time now. its time now to get informed!

Maybe you outta learn which committees they are own before you make stupid comments. Even a child can tell they were not in the same room by looking at the walls and podiums/tables in the room. You did notice the wood walls and bureau Clinton and McCain sat behind right? Did you see the white walls and flimsy table draped with a red cover Obama sat behind???? Amazing!!!!

JanetE, please do not give your opinion if you are not fully informed. It hurts your readers and makes you look bad. Obama is not on the Armed Services Committee, thus he was not sitting with McWar and Hillary who are on this committee. Obama interviewed General Patraeus in the afternoon when the general met with the Foreign Relations Committee.

Well other responders have already explained the whole committee thing . . . but you ask why Joe Biden is not a presidential contender? Actually, he has been a contender, more than once, but it's late and I'm tired so may I suggest Wikipedia or The Google to get the background. Biden is one of my favorites, though, I would have been very happy to have him as a nominee.
