Chelsea Clinton Asked About Monica Lewinsky Yet Again

For the third time in two weeks, Chelsea Clinton has been asked about Monica Lewinsky while campaiging for her mother. The question seems to be gaining popularity among college kids who either want to get a rise out of Clinton or are looking for the same kind of attention lavished on Evan Strange, the Butler University student, who first brought up the sore subject.

Many in the crowd at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind., booed Monday when a question about the impeachment proceedings against President Clinton came up. Chelsea Clinton quickly summed up her position: "If that's what you want to vote on, that's what you should vote on. But I think there are other people (who are) going to vote on things like health care and economics," she said.

Amanda Morris, president of Purdue's Students for Hillary chapter, said Tuesday that she approved of the audience reaction and how Clinton is responding. She also expects the question might keep coming up.

Okay to start this off, I am a Purdue Grad and a Obama Supporter. I want to let you know a little bit about the school. It is one of the most Conservative schools in the world. So, I would put money on it that the person was either a Republican, just looking to get a rise out of her (AKA prank), or drunk. They do drink alot there, well I did too. I loved my four years there, but you couldn't really talk politics there. In my Philosophy of Religion class, I got a person jumping up and down telling me going to hell when I made some questions on Chrisitianity after she was attacking other religions.

Obama supporters and repuglicans have a whole lot in common - they are ill-tempered and ill-informed and have absolutely no class or decency. Now if they knew anything about this at all they would know that she said, when leaving Calif., that she was packing her knee-pads and was going to DC to seduce Clinton. She stalked until she succeeded. She had done the same thing with one of her married teachers. The girl was a slut - so is Bill. Big friggin deal. Monica was seduced by a high school teacher when she was in his Drama class. She went to Portland for college and he followed her there. She went from Portland to the internship at the White House.

You should watch the HBO documentary where Monica answers questions from a crowd of students (and NEVER says "it's not your business"). A girl in the audience stands up and tells everyone the same high school teacher seduced her, too.

The thing is these same people will be saying this same crap for the next 8 years (plus) but they will be saying it about Obama because unfortunately when you idolize someone the moment they behave in any way contrary to your image of them the same heat of passion turns to the heat of hate. When and if Obama becomes President and has to make hard decisions that seem to be the antithesis of his platform, when he makes a dea/compromisel to get one thing accomplished and has to let go of another thing, when legislation is passed that does not go far enough in stubborn ideological sensibilities the hate will turn its ugliness toward Obama.

Actually, every time this comes up I find myself feeling sorry for Monica Lewinsky. She was a young woman, an intern in the White House, excited about being selected for this opportunity, eager to learn and gain experience. She acted foolishly, like many young people, and became involved with a man old enough to be her father. Bill Clinton, the President, was certainly the more experienced one and certainly should have been more aware of the consequences of their actions. I remember seeing Monica interviewed by Barbara Walters and saying she thought he had really and truly cared about her. Just another young woman exploited by an older man for selfish, sexual purposes - it is an old story. In this story, the man went on to earn over $100 million and the young woman's very name became a joke.

Oh, give me a FREAKIN' break!!!! She should have known better. I was an intern on Capitol Hill, plenty of other young women have been interns there, and at the White House and they didn't throw themselves at their bosses. I had guys ask for dates and I said no and stayed the hell away from them after that. I chose not to screw up my career. A friend of mine interned in the Clinton White House and everyone there had a nicname for ML "The Stalker"
