The British comedian, who lives in California, told the Western Daily Press regional paper that his jokes could help the Illinois senator get into the White House.

"I am due to come to Europe in November but I may be tied up until then because if Barack Obama gets the nomination I'm going to offer my services to him as a speechwriter because I think he is a brilliant man," the 68-year-old said.

We know that the Hillary doesn't need a comedy writer; her campaign is already plays like a French Farce.

Good for you, John. I go all the way back to the "Goons", as one of your fans. Especially liked your humorous role as Sheriff in "Silverado".

Glad you're pro-active for Senator Obama.

Cleese doesn't have to write speeches for him, he can just let Obama use what is already written, for instance, as Bush hands the keys to the White House to Obama:

He is packing it in and packing it up
And sneaking away and buggering up
And chickening out and pissing off home,
Yes, bravely he is throwing in the sponge.

Strywever. I will answer your question to Kindera. No it does not have any original thoughts. Kindera and Superbus - the same old thing over and over and over again.

I just had the strangest vision- Obama as Basil Fawlty, Hillary as Sybill, Mc Cain as the Major and Lindsay Graham as Manuel. "Don't mind him,he's from South Carolina!"

The funniest Obama line ever was when he was asked about Bill Clinton being the first black president. He responded: "I would have to investigate more of Bill's dancing ability and some of this other stuff before I accurately judged whether he was, in fact, a brother." That was a masterpiece of comic timing.

Efranklin. It certainly was wasn't it. Oh it is going to be so wonderful to have an brilliant, decent man in the White House in 2008 and a brililiant wife too. No more Laura bobbleheads please or Cindy McCain scarecrows.

The difference btw Obama and clinton is that People volunteer for him while Clinton will have to pay millions in fees to that same person to work for her.

I think it's not fair?
It's really sad.

Well, Obama is the one who paid nearly $700.000 to buys Superdelegate votes http://www.capitaleye.org/inside.asp?ID=3366):

"Of the 82 elected officials who had announced as of Feb. 12 that their superdelegate votes would go to the Illinois senator, 35, or 43 percent of this group, have received campaign contributions from him in the 2006 or 2008 election cycles, totaling $232,200." Check your facts before you generalize...

McCain: The Democrats want to surrender!
Obama: That's not an argument.
McCain: Yes it is.
Obama: No it isn't.
McCain: Yes it IS!
Obama: Look, an argument is proposing alternative views to a philosophy or statement. What you're doing is mereley offering contrary exclamations for the mere gainsay of my statements.
McCain: No I'm not.
Obama: Yes you are! An argument is not merely the repeated spouted of contradictive terms like "no it isn't"
McCain: Yes it is.
Obama: No it IS'NT!
McCain: I'm sorry, our time is up. If you wish to continue the argument you'll have to pay for another hour in Iraq.

Why's he irrelevant? He's still as funny as ever, from what I've seen. Oh. I get it. You WANT him to be irrelevant because you don't like the fact that he supports McCain. There's a lot of that going around -- people just making up "facts" to get what they want.

On the topic of speechifying. Mass Governer Deval Patrick (who shares his speeches with Obama) appears to finally be seeing the error of his ways and may be setting down to doing some proper 'governorship' of the commonwealth. Patrick and Obama shared the same campaign playbook from the same Svengali political consultant, and I've been using the example of Patrick to criticize Obama by proxy. Patrick can be considered Obama's "St. john the Baptist" come to foreshadow the messiah's imminent arrival. If I detect Patrick finally getting down to business in a workmanlike way my concerns about Obama, by association, have been reduced.
