Ullman is a genius. Her wit and timing is so fast and so subtle and so compact, that too many people can't "hear" it. This is humor for the thinking classes! This isn't vulgar, hateful, foul-mouthed "humor". Her acts are in the Lilly Tomlin school of comedy. She's not skewering every "character" she mimics, she's actually showing how much she admires them by getting there personas down so incredibly accurate and then has a bit of fun with it.

She's had a devoted following here in the U.S. but never a huge hit as she has been in the U.K., Australia and Canada.

I am on a temporary setup, no speakers.
But what I know, Ulman is a very good friend of Aryaana,. who is Greek , and at least bilingual or may be more. That is what in Europians are, people speakes several languages and good in all. She also have a rather heavy accent (that is why she is the target), but, have an excellent command in her language skills.
Don`t we all know that...

And that is why America is called the melting pot.

Bad writing. Stupid puns. That was the opposite of funny. Was Tracy Ullman always so banal? I can't remember - the 80s were so long ago.

Seriously? Life isn't working for you? Laugh a little.

Tracey Ullman has always been under-appreciated. What a talent. It was her show that gave the Simpsons their start. How sad is that? I wonder if Tracey gets any royalties from Matt Groening for giving him that start...oh well.

Arianna is a good sport for putting these spots on here. Her new show is very funny, but it is too critical of America. Rural America won't get it. Her show will only play well in Marin County and big cities (you know, the Obama voter). :-)

What rural America gets is tiresome, parochial, elitist commentary like yours. Obama has won primaries in rural states. Not everyone who lives in the country is a hayseed in the same measure that not everyone who lives in the city is smart or wealthy. Jeesh, grow up.

You make Obama sound good. Class snobbery is not very attractive.

Tracey was the lowest rated show in TV! Week after week I watched and marveled at her enormous talent. I used to tell people to watch because she was Lucy and Carole Burnett all in one. One of the funniest shows Ever!

Sadly, these two clips stink! Tracey, you're trying too hard. Stick with what you know.

C'mon flacon - she nailed Arianna.

hah! that was great.

I wanted her to make fun of the time Bill Clinton turned her down for an affair...nothing else explains AH putting bad pics of Hillary up every day...it's the old woman-scorned story. Sorry AH if you weren't his type, get over it now. Your woman-scorned problem is ruining your website..I suggest therapy.

agree..add Dowd to the list..

I'm a Hillary fan, but this is embarassing.
04:27 PM on 04/09/2008
She should have done a routine that showed Arianna backstabbing Hillary and going ape-shoot over Obama.

Couldn't have said it better myself! Such hate toward hillary!

would be good but Ulman is a friend of the Boss here.
04:15 PM on 04/09/2008
wow, she nailed it.

Tracy Ullman has done some wonderful things, not the least of which is championing the Simpsons, albeit the scary looking ones. However, this is just not funny at all. The impression is ok, but if you're going to do sketches the words that are spoken also have to be funny. This just comes off as kind of lame and boring.
11:07 PM on 04/09/2008
I agree. Tracy is one of the funniest women alive, but this clip is not funny. It's also a bad impression. She didn't capture the essence of Arianna at all.

I have been a huge fan of Tracey Ullman since the 80's, but even I have to admit that this stuff is a bit old. It comes across as mean spirited and not too terribly funny. I think she has been eclipsed by others like Catherine Tate.

Too bad, I really was excited that she was coming back with a new series

That line about the dress being worn by Ed Begley's wife is hilarious.
