Britney Spears reacts as a throng of celebrity photographers surround her car as she leaves court after a hearing to work out custody arrangements with Kevin Federline for their two young sons on Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, in Los Angeles. Spears' adventures behind the wheel continue. The pop star was involved in a minor traffic accident late Saturday April 12, 2008 but no one was injured, authorities said. LOS ANGELES — Britney Spears' motoring misfortunes continue. The pop star was involved in a minor traffic accident late Saturday, but no one was injured and no vehicles were damaged, authorities said.

Spears was driving her 2008 Mercedes on the eastbound Ventura Freeway just east of the 405 freeway about 8:20 p.m. when the mishap occurred, said California Highway Patrol Officer Patrick Kimball.

Spears was in stop-and-go traffic when her car struck a 2006 Nissan in front of her that had stopped. The Nissan then pushed forward into another vehicle. No damage was noted to any of the vehicles.

The CHP took a report and no one was cited.

An after-hours e-mail sent to Spears' publicist was not returned early Sunday.

In 2006, Spears was photographed driving with her son on her lap.

A misdemeanor hit-and-run charge from an August 2007 parking lot crash was dismissed after she paid an undisclosed amount to the car's owner.

In October, she pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of driving without a valid driver's license and later obtained a temporary California license.

There's a reason rich people have people drive them, and it's often that they can't be bothered to pay attention to what is going on in the world around them. If you can't drive, take a bus, a taxi, walk, ride a bike -- but don't drive.

Well, this is the ENTERTAINMENT section and she is an ENTERTAINER. Kind of like how they have business news over in the business section and political news over in the politics section.

That still doesn't explain why the media feels we need to know every minor detail about Britney Spears's life.

So what? Why does shit like this make headlines? This is why this girl can not get well and get on with her life. The media won't let her. Every one of us has all had her same experiences, just without 46 cameras in our face as we do it. Nobody is perfect, and magnifying someone's flaws indicates minimizing one's own!

only a fool drives on the 405. this kind of accident happens at least 20 times a day.

Partly because folks are yakking on their cell phones (which will be against the law starting in July).

Yup every So. Californian knows avoid the I-405/US101 interchange if you can, and esp. the US101 between the I-405 and St. Rte 170-it's busy nearly all the time, nearly as bad as the I-405 from the US101 to LAX-that's busy mosta the time, even late at night.

I don't understand why this mentally unstable woman is allowed to drive.

I'm w/Wingman1 on this one. Lately, I have really been disappointed at the exploitive headlines in all sections of the Huffpo.

This incident with Britney is nothing and for you to take note of it and pile unrelated past mistakes on top of it makes the Huffpo complicit in this society's bloodlust. What's the difference between you guys waiting and baiting that poor girl to suicide and the Romans cheering on the lions.

christonabike,

Thank you. I agree with you completely.

I too agree, we have to stop this type of behavior. I over the last few weeks have been very disapointed in some of the "news" here. Last week it was so called news about Rosie and her 12 year old son. Come on Huffinton we come here for real news get back to business of reporting NEWS.

I wonder what her car insurance rates are. Damn, she's gotta be in the high risk pool.

Huffington Post you are developing a bad habit of using exaggerated headlines. On your homepage the tag for this article reads "Britney in car wreck", a wild exaggeration given that your writer states above:

So how about you chill out a bit and stop amping up our expectations and emotions with lurid hyperbole in your tags and headlines and adopt a more congruent approach. You ain't the National Enquirer.

LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE!!!!!

Wow. This woman's so-called friends and family are going to let her keep cruising around until she kills someone and goes to prison. How hard is it for a person with millions of dollars, to simply employ a full-time driver? She could get out her driver thrills on a private race course, and still maintain safety for all of us on the road. But she doesn't.

'Scuse me? Did you read the article. It says she was rear ended. Someone ran into HER! How is that, in any way, her fault???? I'm no Britney fan, but sheesh, she needs a break already.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 03:47 PM on 04/14/2008

You need to re-read the article. HER car struck a Nissan in the rear and the Nissan then hit the car in front of it. Britney caused the whole accident. She should have given HERSELF a brake - BEFORE she plowed into the Nissan.

I know I am a bad typist, but shouldn't that headline read "Is" and not "In"?

She really is a train wreck looking for a place to happen. Just hope she doesn't take any innocent victims with her when she finally collides with something.
