I Like ItI Don’t Like It
Pat Buchanan

It was an otherwise normal day in the Land of the McLaughing Group. John got to bellow, "The answer is HILLARY." And nobody minded that they weren't as relentlessly dogmatic in the Papism as Pat Buchanan, and the whole panel kinda sorta agreed on the issue of China and the Olympics, but because this was the McLaughlin Group, they all agreed to pillory each other with loud sounds from their cakeholes for our amusement. But, about halfway through the show, Pat Buchanan said something that didn't amuse - not one little bit I'm afraid!

BUCHANAN: But I'll tell you what's coming, John. Petraeus pointed right at the special groups supported by Iran, as the main problem now. They are firing rockets into the Green Zone, they're responsible for Basra. The president said that Iran better not make the wrong choice. We're looking at 140,000 troops there by the end of the year, and very possibly airstrikes in Iran before this fall.

Oh. Fantastic.

[WATCH.]

Later, Pat went back to this scary imagining, predicting: "Fifty-fifty chance of U.S. airstrikes on Iran by October." Paging Dr. Strangelove!

It was an otherwise normal day in the Land of the McLaughing Group. John got to bellow, "The answer is HILLARY." And nobody minded that they weren't as relentlessly dogmatic in the Papism as Pat Buc...

Amen. MSNBC gets an automatic channel change when he comes on.

Maybe we should Pat the bill when the price of oil goes up because of fear of war with Iran that he helps stir up.

Hear hear! I do the same thing. He is getting real old. His bigotry is not even hidden anymore. MSNBC could do a lot better. I hate it when Keith has him on. And I think that has only happened a couple of times.

The most annoying thing about this guy is that he INCESSANTLY talks over and interrupts fellow guests. At least when Tweety does it he's usually reacting to something his brain cell has heard from a guest. Buchanan is on his own planet listening to no one but his cranky old man self.

IRAN launching missiles? My, they've come a long way, those missiles. Long-range, I guess.

Iran is launching missiles into the Green Zone?

Nobody was launching missiles into the Green Zone until your little chickenhawk heroes created a Green Zone.

Iraq and Iran used to get into a war with each other every 10 years or so while the rest of the world went on peacefully.

Now Bush and his power drunk gang of thugs, thieves and incompetents have accomplished nothing but getting our troops into the middle of a thousand year long civil war halfway around the world.

If you think this was such a f*cking great idea, why aren't you over there putting your little right wing butt on the line with our troops?

. . . "angry little bigot" . . .
Agreed.
. . . "His day is past" . . .
Don't think so. While he may be a bit defective in the morality department he is still an excellent analyst and one of the few who allows unvarnished truth to spill from his lips from time to time.
On the question of this administrations proclivities for and timing of the invasion of Iran I would pay close attention. The neo-cons are angling for, "Another Pearl Harbor type event." It's necessary for them to foment and foster another round of extreme jingoism to perfect their abolition of the Constitution and nurture their perpetual war. Buchanan knows this and believe it or not, he isn't really happy about it.
When Pat Buchanan gives you a potential schedule for the invasion of Iran with odds I'd bet on the date. The odds he's giving are conservative and I think he knows it.

Pat "Where is the gratitude?" Buchanan needs to get escorted off the set just like they did Limbaugh.

Scott Ritter says the war has already begun - http://www.commondreams.org/views05/0620-31.htm
The Blueprint for the Economic Takeover of the Middle East

The initial blueprint for the takeover of Iraq came in 1992 in the final year of the Bush I administration. The 1992 "Defense Planning Guidance" (DPG) describes America's overall military strategy and represents guidance from the president and secretary of defense. The 1992 DPG was written by Dick Cheney, Paul Wolfowitz, Zalamy Khalizad, Scooter Libby, Eric Edelman and Colin Powell - six men who served Bush I and II, most worked in the Reagan administration as well.

The DPG was written after the success of the 1991 Gulf War, and the failure to remove Saddam Hussein from power - two years after the fall of the Berlin Wall and the emergence of the U.S. as a sole superpower. The document, built on the Carter Doctrine and remained in effect through the Clinton years, states the goal clearly - the objective of the United States in the Middle East is "to remain the predominant outside power in the region and preserve U.S. and Western access to the region's oil." The document describes an aggressive, unilateral, preemptive military agenda - that includes ad hoc coalitions of countries - rather than working through organizations like the U.N.
