Clinton: Gore And Kerry Lost Because They Were Viewed As Elitist

Speaking to reporters in Pennsylvania on Sunday, Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton said that previous Democratic nominees lost in the general election because they were viewed as out of touch with the nation:

Pressed on whether she truly believes Obama is an elitist, Clinton called him "a good man," but recalled the narratives of the 2000 and 2004 president election.

"You don't have to think back too far to remember that good men running for president were viewed as being elitist and out of touch with the values and lives of millions of Americans," she said.

Clinton later reiterated the argument at a CNN sponsored forum. Watch the video:

Gore won the popular vote, which is something Hillary herself has been trying to say should decide the Democratic primary. Having the popular vote means that, out of those that voted, the majority did not think he was out of touch or going to be a bad president.

The scorn is so well deserved that it just makes you feel good all over to be able to watch or participate. That doesn't even take into account the bonus prize of bashing that traitor to the working class American she married. Bill is the disgrace of our Democratic Party which helped to usher in the age of Bush idiocy, not only with his philandering and perjury but also by not supporting Al Gore or John Kerry.

The Clintons make the Bush family appear upright and virtuous by comparison. Just how craven do you have to be to merit that judgement?

In primaries and caucuses, pledge delegates determine who wins. You don't have the count of votes in caucuses so popular votes has no meaning because it excludes voters in caucuses.

that's what we call just...not true-you're right, Bush won the recounts in all locations where Gore requested a recount. Gore won the state of Florida once all the votes where recounted. This isn't a democrat v republican issue- it' s not even a Bush issue, this is an issue of democracy. All of our votes are not being counted- that's a FACT that even most pundits and analysis will agree with- they go on to insist that elections aren't rigged/ the fact that every vote doesn't count will not sway the outcome of an election- I on the other hand, most of us actually- would rather not take that risk.

Clinton said Gore lost because he was perceived as elitist? That is why she tagged Obama as elitist by twisting his remark. He was talking to his volunteers, not urban rich, that he can understand WHY people are bitter and angry, he was not condescending. But as usual, the Clintons are the masters of spins so even with many of their own gaffes and misspoke, they still can whip one of Obama's into a frenzy.
By the way, if the Clintons' years in the WH were so great as Hillary supporters hang on to that illusion, why didn't Gore win by a landslide for the Democrat right after Bill's good years?
