Lieberman: Good Question To Ask If Obama Is A Marxist

In his New York Times column today, Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol claimed that Sen. Barack Obama's (D-IL) now-infamous "bitter" remarks sound like Karl Marx's "famous statement about religion." On the Brian and the Judge radio show today, Fox News' senior judicial analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano asked Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) if Obama is "a Marxist as Bill Kristol says might be the case?"

"I must say that's a good question," replied Lieberman, before stepping back to say that he would "hesitate to say he's a Marxist":

There are some very troubling tones in this conversation; many of them are outright antisemitic and right out of the Hammas strategy. Joe Lieberman happens to be Jewish. That does NOT make him an agent of Israel nor does that depict him as a Zionist. Extreme Islamic sects tend to conflate the three (Israelis, Zionist and Jews).

Jews in the United States are not of a single point of view - far from it. While I think that Liberman is a disgrace to his office, the fact that he is Jewish is entirely irrelevant. I would point out that the other independent in the Senate - Bernie Sanders of Vermont is also Jewish and differs radically from all things Lieberman. He is a self-described democratic socialist which I find rather ironic in light of the thread topic.

You're right. Lieberman happens to be Jewish, and that doesn't make him an agent of Israel. There is no causality there.

But the truth in this case is, that he is Jewish. (full stop). He is an agent of Israel. (full stop). No necessary connection, other than Israel is a Jewish state, and is officially such.

The Anti-Semite charge is a cannard that is pulled out everytime some questions Israel's action. That is one country that there is a history, and a very evident track record of spying on America, turning Americans, and doing serious harm to this country -- more so than the Soviets ever did, and going back farther, our actual enemies (imperial Japan, Nazi Germany...).
