In his New York Times column today, Weekly Standard editor Bill Kristol claimed that Sen. Barack Obama's (D-IL) now-infamous "bitter" remarks sound like Karl Marx's "famous statement about religion." On the Brian and the Judge radio show today, Fox News' senior judicial analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano asked Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) if Obama is "a Marxist as Bill Kristol says might be the case?"

"I must say that's a good question," replied Lieberman, before stepping back to say that he would "hesitate to say he's a Marxist":

Good question. All of us who remember the aftermath of WWII and the horrific things we discovered about the Nazi plot to wipe out the entire Jewish race are sympathetic to a Jewish homeland where they could be safe from oppression. It seems pretty ironic that in the process they push out millions of Palestinians, marginalize and oppress the arab population, effectively pushing them into ghettos like the jews in the earlier centuries. We in the US should have some empathy for the arabs who were driven from their homes and try to have a more even-handed approach to the Iraeli-Arab problems.

Why is it that any discussion of Lieberman results in a discussion of Israel?

That is propaganda. The majority of Palestinians or either those who left Israel as a result of the 1948 war or their offspring. Most left voluntarily - some were expelled. The newly formed nation was attacked by five Arab countries. Meanwhile, Islamic clerics were convincing the Arab population of Israel that the Jews would 'drink their blood." Muslims rejected partitioning and radical groups like Hammas STILL refuse to recognize israel as a state or Israel's right to exist. Their continuing mission is to create an Islamic theocracy of Israel (just read their website).

For sure, Israel has - at times - been repressive in their zeal to protect their sovereignty. Israelis have a broad range of views and, in the final analysis, they are surrounded by armed people who openly seek their destruction.

Your 'is' SHOULD be a 'was'. All I can find says that Obama supported LIEberman's re-election campaign BEFORE Ned Lamont was nominated by the Connecticut Democratic Party. I've seen NOTHING of the kind from AFTER Lamont's nomination. Because Joe was his 'Senate mentor', unfortunately just like 'the Clintons', he did little to campaign for Lamont.

Unlike 'the Clintons' though, Senator Obama is NOT 'DLC'.
