Pope Benedict XVI was greeted with loud cheers as he stepped off the plane today, marking his first official visit to the US since he became Pope. President Bush, the First Lady and their daughter Jenna were on hand to greet the Pope personally, along with other dignitaries. Jenna, however, looked a bit uncomfortable as she welcomed the Pope, offering him one of her hands and using the other to keep the strong wind from blowing her skirt up around her waist.

...and why exactly is this a story?

How dare you wear a robe to preside
How dare you cover your head to hide
Your face from God
How dare you smile from behind your beard
To hide the fact your heart's afeared,
And wave your rod
How dare you be the one to assess
Me, in this God-forsaken mess
You, a man, in a purple dress
A man in a purple dress

You are all the same
Gilded and absurd
Regal, fast to blame
Rulers by lost word
Men above men, or prats
With your high hats
You priest, you mullah so high
You pope, you wise rabbi
You're invisible to me
Like vapour from the sea

How dare you? Do you think I'll quietly go?
You are much braver than you know
For I can't die
Your staff, your stick, your special cap
They'll protect in Hell? What crap!
Believe the lie
How dare you be the one to assess
Me, in this God-forsaken mess
You, a man, in a purple dress
A man in a purple dress

I lovingly mock you noble lords
We all dress up to grant awards
I do that as well
I dare condemn your fashion sense
At least you're not astride a fence
That would not sell
But I will deliver this address
Your soul's condition don't impress
You, a man, in a purple dress
A man in a purple dress

Did Bush greet him with, "Yo Pop!"?

this is fodder for the CONSERVATIVE voices out there. "huffington post stoops to a new low" next on hannity and pumpkinface!

sometimes i think Huff Po is being hijacked by the ultra liberal late 20's/early 30's tina fey, jeanine garafallo crowd. ariana needs to purge her 'out of touch' conspiratorial contributors

before i get condemned as a neo-con. i'm 27, and i love rachel maddow and phil donahue...so bring it 'you give lib a bad name' wannabee

This is exactly the kind of divisive crap that gives liberals a bad name. Lay off this stuff HuffPo, please...

Are you suggesting that she wasn't trying to keep her skirt down? Or that it should not have been noted? Make sure you complain to FOX as well when they go after Chelsea.

I've never seen Fox make a big deal about Chelsea's skirt blowing up, or anything similar, but if they did, I'd go after them, too. The editors here are very sexist.

I think JulieSA is complaining that the words "Flash the pope" are in the headline. Catholics get very offended whenever anything could be construed as in bad taste where the pope is concerned, since the pope, to catholics, is God on earth. No, he's even higher than God, because the pope has the power to make things in the bible to no longer be true, and to add new things to the bible that he makes up.

You're a bigger a bonehead than the idiot who wrote this story. She obviously was trying to keep her skirt down. Those of us in polite society call it "decorum" - you don't slip the tongue in when you kiss grandma and you don't let the Pope/Priest/Holy Guy see your skivvies (thong, whatever) when you greet him with your folks. I guess the whole concept is lost on you. You should go back to posting on the Beavis & Butthead site, your keen skills of observation are wasted here.

The Bush family, et al, and the Pope, all together.

Let's see - Murderers, torturers, war criminals, pathological liars, drunks and the "Grand Pubah" of the biggest child molestion ring on the planet.

WHAT A PARTY!!!

I wonder if in all this so-called, "respect" Bush is supposed to have for the "sanctity of life," he has any thoughts about the hundreds of thousands of defenseless civilians (babies, children, unarmed men and women, pregnant women) he has murdered in Iraq and Afghanistan?

I guess you already have to be born for Bush to consider you "collateral damage."

Remember, Hitler never pulled the trigger. He had somebody else do it for him.

Why is anyone surprised at the HP trying to make anti-Bush, anti-Catholic hay out of a non-story?

The folks running the HP apparently think a young woman acting modestly in the US in front of the Pope is the height of effrontery to core liberal hatemongers espousing the core liberal mockery of Christianity.

What does the pope have to do with Christianity.? Did Christ ever comport himself like a pompous ass while courting the leaders of nations? Did Christ ever wear a funny hat and an emperor's robe? Don't think so Bud.

Did Christ trash liberals. Nope. He was one.

Try reading the bible instead of trolling the HuffPo.
