Bush And Benedict
Pope Benedict XVI became only the second Pope to visit the White House, and he gave a speech about the purpose of his trip and the importance of democracy being informed by moral values. In attendance was, of course, Bush. The President must have been extremely impressed by the Pope's words because right after Pope Benedict concluded his remarks, Bush leaned over and said, "Thank you, your holiness. Awesome speech."

Watch the video below :

Hey, President AWOL, as an Evangelical Fundementalcase, did you remind the Pope that he's going to HELL because he hasn't been born again?
Isn't that what you 'Rapture' children believe President AWOL?

"Awesome speech"...are you cereal?
Every time that AWOL jackass opens his mouth, he makes me embarrassed to be an American!
This is why voting for the "feller y'all could have a beer with" is a recipe for disaster.
How about we vote for the guy or gal with a brain in their head instead?
...a brain that hasn't been addled by decades of cocaine, marijuana and moonshine abuse.
How about we vote for the guy or gal who was the book-worm in high school not the drunk jock?
I am sick and tired of my leaders, like the Decider, being chosen by the gang down at the local Piggly Wiggly who think 'book-learnin' is 'fer' fags.!
Grow up BUSHIES...this ain't a high school click y'all IZ votin' 'fer'...its your President!

Sorry padre I won't be voting according to anything the catholic church says or does. Given how they too violate the federal laws, cover up thier crimes, launder money under phoney entities. I don't think so. Kick me out of the damn church, excommunicate me, I don't give a rats butt. I would really rather be kicked out, than to remain in a religion that teaches hypocrissy.

cruisepuppy7452a posted a comment. An opinion.

That is what we do here and at other blogs.

The article is about the Pope's visit and many former Catholics are taking

the opportunity to vent their disappointments and frustrations which is fine.

If you don't like it then take your own advise and leave.

Just the reBushlicans showing off how non-inclusive and racist they really are. Or, just another example of how truly dumb bush is. Why does Condi Rice and Colin Powell, and all African-American reBushlicans support this party and this jackass of a president. And they wonder why the party only gets 10percent of the African-Amercan vote.

I caught that too. Why do they decorate the Pope's stage with a symbol of racism and treason?

O.K. people, here is the story on the flags. They are state flags. In the still photo you can see the Indiana state flag (blue with circles of stars) and the Mississippi state flag. What people are calling the confederate flag is actually an area called the union square (red) with a broad blue saltier on it with thirteen (13) mullets (stars) representing the original thirteen (13) states of the union. In the video clip the state flags are: Illinois state flag (white), the Alabama state flag (white with crimson St. Andrews cross) and again the Mississipi state flag, at the very end you get a glimpse of the Wisconsin state flag ( blue with 1848 clearly seen). No nefarious facist, racist or bigioted deeds to be seen. Move along.

the confederates took up arms against their own country. They fired the first shots. That is treason.

Black Union soldiers who surrendered were routinely murdered on the spot by Confederate soldiers. They would often chant, "Spare the whites, kill the n-----s!" That is racism.

Therefore the flag they carried into battle against the United States of America symbolizes treason and racism. Period. I grew up in Georgia. I know what that flag stands for.

Read the history of the adoption of this flag. If you wish to talk treason, then only look to the Declaration of Independance of these United States, a treasonous document if there were ever was one. White officers of the black troops were not spared, they were afforded special attention (they did not survive). As for flags carried by traitors, why our on stars and stripes is the very symbol of treason. You may have grown up in Georgia but you never gained any wisdom.

It's not the confederate flag that you see. It's actually the canton of the state flag of Mississippi.

How apt to see the Confederate flag waving back there, after all the Vatican supported Jefferson Davis during the Civil War, not Abraham Lincoln. Pope Pius IX even sent Davis an oil painting of himself as a token of "support."

Dubya and Ratzinger should get along just great: Dumb and dumber, each one as clueless to the world's needs as the other.

Do you honestly think that if he were alive today, Lincoln would be a Republinut? Things have changed alot since the Civil War, both in our government and the Church.

Could you possibly be any more full of c rap?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confederate_States_of_America

In November 1863, Confederate diplomat A. Dudley Mann met Pope Pius IX and received a letter addressed "to the Illustrious and Honorable Jefferson Davis, President of the Confederate States of America.” Mann, in his dispatch to Richmond, interpreted the letter as "a positive recognition of our Government," and some have mistakenly viewed it as a de facto recognition of the C.S.A. Confederate Secretary of State Judah P. Benjamin, however, interpreted it as "a mere inferential recognition, unconnected with political action or the regular establishment of diplomatic relations" and thus did not assign it the weight of formal recognition.

No, Benjamin was wrong and Mann was correct. The letter did signal the church's recognition of the Confederate States as an independent country. When one considers the evidence of the letter together with the oil painting, the facts are indisputable.

I heard a little of the Bush speech before the Pope. This guy now has it in for 'the dictators of Relativism". Who are they? How many troops will he be using? How many billions of dollars per month are we going to have to shell out against these guys? Man, I can't wait till this War President is retired.
