Joe Lieberman Willing To Star At GOP Convention

Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.), the Democratic Party's 2000 vice presidential nominee, is leaving open the possibility of giving a keynote address on behalf of Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) at the Republican National Convention in September.

Republicans close to the McCain campaign say Lieberman's appearance at the convention, possibly before a national primetime audience, could help make the case that the presumptive GOP nominee has a record of crossing the aisle. That could appeal to much-needed independent voters.

even if LIEberman were to switch parties and it becomes a 50/50 senate, the majority would remain with the dems until the next election.

With a republican vp, how would a 50/50 split be a majority for democrats? The VP is a tiebreaker, so the majority would go to the repubs.

I hope that the democrats get enough of a majority to take away Joe's chairmanship, but they can not do it until they have a bigger majority.

the rules state that if someone were to switch sides and change the split in the senate to 50/50 the party in power who head the committees retain that power until the next election.

they hold the power to prevent any legislation from going to the floor for a vote by holding it in committee, which makes cheney powerless.

Joe Lieberman is a man who directly opposes to the number one goal of the democratic party,defeating John McCain. How on earth can a man who proudly professes that he wants the Democratic party to lose the Presidential election, be given any favor by the party which he is actively trying to sabotage? Here in lyes the essence of why Harry Reid is a failure and unfit to lead the new Democratic party. With regard to political courage, Harry Reid has none. Does Lieberman annoy you? Render him irrelevant by working with the DNC, MoveOn, Democracy For America, or any number of other groups who are committed to seeing November not only become a Democratic victory for Presidency, but also in the House and Senate. Some of these groups are even working to unseat DINOs who, like Lieberman, claim to support the Democratic party yet side with the Bush administration vote after vote.
