Michelle Obama appeared on Tuesday night's "Colbert Report," which was filmed in Philadelphia, and was subjected to the jokes, flirtations and songs of host Stephen Colbert. It seems Barack is a better singer than Stephen:

What can I say? Indeed they are both BEAUTIFUL...
BUT WHAT EXCITES ME IS that in a time of great trouble and peril, America has the opportunity to elect a Barack Obama...that is like having Lincoln again, or Washington...we have not seen this kind of candidate since I was a boy...yes they are beautiful because they are dreamers, dreamers in the ilk of Washington, and Lincoln and Kennedy and King. We who believed the dream have been waiting for a long time.
Oh YES WE CAN! We can see beyond the ol' tactics and ol' politics and grasp a dream desperately needed.
What a classy lady! I agree with Colbert -- she would (hopefully will) be the great next Jackie-O. She did an excellent job in this interview.
Michelle Obama is a big time "you knower." Too many "you knows" when she talks. Sorry we don't know. You know?

I don't think it flatters MO to compare her to Jackie O. Sure, they are a match in beauty & elegance; but Jackie didn't have her own 'public' voice. She played her role well and it was the '60s, which was more conservtive when it came to First Ladies. Michelle is a strong, intellegent women in her own right. In terms of character, I see her as more of an Eleanor than a Jackie. Jackie never projected the individual power and inner strength of either MO or ER.
I'm crazy about Stephen Colbert, and his interviews are intelligent and funny.
I also have become a fan of Obama, and it would appear that we will at last have a team where BOTH can reason. I admire her greatly, and she is correct in saying that they prefer to look on the positive side. What you focus on, grows. What you resist, persists. What has happened in Iraq and in this country, has happened. We need to accept that and come up with ways to change turn it around. Obama has wonderful ideas, including that we must not only end the war, but also the mindset which created it.
I have faith that the Obamas will make it all the way to the oval office. That must happen if we are to return to the respected nation in the pre-Dubya era.
It is quite remarkable what passes for political discourse on these threads. People stooping to the depths of an ABC news personality. I would expect better.
Just because you support one candidate doesn't mean the others are bad people. I would hope there would be far more intelligence out there.
It reminds me of the first election I was aware of:

Colbert fawned over her in that free endorsement. So much for his stinging style.
I understand where you're coming from, but ultimately I don't think it fully holds up. He has said that he dials the character up or down depending on the person he's interviewing. Michelle Obama is an intelligent woman, fully capable of defending herself (and her husband), but she's not a politician and she wasn't there on her own behalf. While that shouldn't insulate her from all inquiry, she's not someone deserving of the full attack mode.
That said, I do think it's pretty clear who he favors in this election. Oh, well, he's only human.
She was good on The Colbert show but can she make cookies? Will she have to use Cindy McCain's non-elitist family recipes?
Hillary is toast. Michelle rocks.

the politics of hope and change seem to hate democracy. No voting for two states, and end the voting now. That's not how any Democrats I know think, and it's why I and 28% of other dems will be going third party!
She reminded me of Laura Bush. Properly deferential to her husband. Obama started teaching her what her place was before they were even married. Made sure her new job in the Daley administration was going to be good for his career. Interviewed her boss before he "allowed"her to accept the job. Yes, she did a great Laura Bush imitation. No worries that she's going to follow in Hillary or Eleanor's footsteps. Other than the occasional gaffe, she's going to be the proper little wifey. Go, Michelle!

I so didn't want to like MO, I have already switched allegience from HC to BO but damn Michelle did come across, classy, witty and eloquent and she didn't wear one those damn polyester pants suits that Hillary has painted on. With grace, beauty and brains to boot, I guess I definitely looovee Michelle Obama.
Why didn't you want to like Michelle? I don't support Obama, but find his wife bright, intelligent, and decent.
That's a plus for our side!
