Britney Spears' Lawyers Win Big: Get Over $372,000

LOS ANGELES — A court commissioner on Thursday authorized various lawyers representing Britney Spears and her family to be paid more than $372,500 out of Spears' funds.

Commissioner Reva Goetz ordered the attorneys paid from Spears' assets, which are under the control of her father, James Spears, and attorney Andrew Wallet. They have had control of the pop star's finances and estate since she was hospitalized twice in January.

Goetz scheduled the next conservatorship hearing for May 29.

Who gives a fig about Britney and her companions in high maintenance? Their parents should be stoned for not rearing them properly. How can these "females" need so much attention. I sure don't want my pre-teens looking at any of them as "that's who I wanna be like" models. Well. isn't that nice? A windfall for all, huh? Who's watching to make sure these people aren't stealing from her? Or, is it not considered stealing because she is deemed to be in an unstable mental condition, and HER money has been handed to her father and her attorney? This screams scandal to me, and if I was her, once I got control back, I would write these loathsome people out of her life immediately. And, especially out of her will. She's the one who made all of that money, and everyone was probably jealous of her wealth to begin with, and now she's got to ask for her own money to conduct her own endeavors? Give me a break, I can't believe that poor girl's plight, and the media just won't let it rest. And, everyone gets to cash in. Why doesn't the judge allow all of the parents back their money for cd sales and concert ticket sales because now they feel she is not such a good influence on all of their little girls? Sounds ridiculous, doesn't it? Well, not any more ridiculous than doing what they're doing. She's being betrayed by every one in every aspect of her life. Ms. Spears, you need to seek different council, as you are getting screwed by the council you have, and they really don't give a damn, because your father is paying them to do it. Sad, just sad....

Spears has sought different counsel - about 5 times that we know of. She was deemed by a court of law (and numerous psychiatric experts) to be unable to control her affairs. Her father is a conservator and must account for all of his dealings on her behalf with the court overseeing the conservatorship. If Spears had not been a complete mess and on a path to self-destruction, she would not have (temporarily) lost control of her finances.
