Obama Small Town

Barack Obama's comments on small towns have not been lost on his campaign. On the heels of picking up three superdelegates yesterday, today they announced the endorsement of superdelegate Reggie Whitten from Oklahoma. Whitten makes sure to speak positively of Obama's connection to small town voters three times in a single statement.

"I have decided to endorse Senator Barack Obama and will work wholeheartedly to see him become the next President of the United States. Some say there is no particular need to endorse at the present time. However, I believe this is a defining moment, not only for our Party, but also more importantly for our country. Therefore, I made the decision to commit now.

"While deciding to support Senator Obama, I thought of my history and my future. I'm from the small town of Seminole, Oklahoma: a city that is predominantly hard-working middle class citizens. It is important that our next President keep small towns like Seminole in mind when he talks about our economy. I am very sincere in my belief that Senator Obama will do just that. When I talk about my future, I, like most people, think of my children. The next administration will have a great deal to say about their future and the world they inherit. As a parent, I am confident Senator Obama has the courage, skill, and experience necessary to lead America forward.

"Whether it is his willingness to tell corporate America what it needs to hear instead of what it wants to hear, restoring America's standing abroad, or inspiring young Americans to commit themselves to public service, Senator Obama's message is equally refreshing and inspiring. It is no coincidence that voters, especially young voters, are turning out to vote in record numbers.

"As we move closer to the convention and, from there, to the general election in November, I am certain Senator Obama will continue to build a broad coalition of Democrats, Independents, and yes, even Republicans. He unites us in the belief that without change in Washington, we as a nation cannot begin to address the challenges and opportunities of our future.

"In conclusion, for these reasons and many more, I'm proud today to stand with Barack Obama and his growing movement for change."

Welcome to the movement, Mr. Whitten. Thank you for joining us. It's great to see how many Americans recognize that you don't have to be an elitist to take the high road. Sure feels good up here, doesn't it?

LOL, a DC superdelegate switches from Hillary to Obama. I guess her piling-on on Obama last night didn't sit too well with democrats.

The worst mistake of my life was to support the Clinton's back in the 90's when they were trashing the reputations of all the people who dare to speak the truth about them. No wonder boy George was afraid to ask tough questions. Look what they did to Bill Richardson when he dared to support Obama. Can you imagine the dirt they probably have on him? The Clinton's were and still are the the most vile human beings on the face of the earth. She would never ever get my vote. I don't care if she ran against the devil himself.

And you'd prefer 4 more years of bush? Give me a break. Any true-blue dem would never go over to the evil side. If you'd even consider it, then it's a sad, selfish, hate-filled world you already live in.

the problem is the Clintons went over to th evil side a long time ago. how do you think bill is making all those millions? They are Democrats in name only.

Hil-liar-y is NOT getting my vote - period! And, IF the DNC dares to give her the nomination I will never vote democratic again. A third party will be formed.

It's getting harder for me to imagine her as anything but "bush in a dress". I've said I would vote for her if she is the nominee, but it's getting harder.

of course i'd not prefer 4 more yrs of Bush but a neoCON is a neoCON whether a (D) follows their name or an (R) and i've had no choice but to recognize Clinton for what she is. i don't want to end up feeling like the recently enlightened GW voters must now feel.

4 more years of Clinton would be as bad as 4 more years of Bush. I will never vote for Hillary and it has nothing to do with hate, it has to do with trust, or better said lack thereof in Hillary. She has already shown that she is a liar..over and over again

In January 1995, as the Clintons were licking their wounds from the 1994 congressional elections, a debate emerged at a retreat at Camp David. Should the administration make overtures to working class white southerners who had all but forsaken the Democratic Party? The then-first lady took a less than inclusive approach.

"Screw 'em," she told her husband. "You don't owe them a thing, Bill. They're doing nothing for you; you don't have to do anything for them."

I've just relocated to Shawnee, OK to help an older family member. I am so delighted to hear of Reggie Whitten's endorsement. Hooray for Seminole and the country.
Also Andrew Rice is running for US Senate against Rep. Inhofe. Again great news for OK and the rest of us!

I also live in Oklahoma and I am thrilled that Whitten has endorsed Obama.

News to me. Canada's denial of Obama's campaign as the real source of NAFTA -gate and naming HRC as the source was posted on MSNBC site on March 6, 2008. I cannot believe I'm just finding out about this on a tiny thread here. How come everyone in America knows that Obama, McCain, HRC & others do not wear flag pins but still believe Obama backstabbed us re NAFTA?????!!!!!!!!!???????

Last night's Fauxlike debate was just validation that a Hill/Bill White House would be more of the same old "smokey back room deals" politics. I for one, a PA voter don't want it...since I'm also canvassing voters, I can assure you that there's lots of others that don't want it either.

Hillary actually did us a favor yesterday by reminding us of what her White House would look like.

Yes We Can!

Great news from PA!

Still hoping PA can bring Senator Obama a total win over Hillary.

While a long shot according to the polls, we still hope to be right.

OBAMA, 2008!

I read one suggestion here at Huffpost which is a very good one.

Hillary Clinton would make a great choice for the Supreme Court.

Who knows maybe the old likable Hillary would reappear.

The nomination?

The election?

Obama will be the nominee.

The poll on NBC this morning shows Obama winning by a huge margin. I have yet to see a poll that says that Hillary won. The only people saying she is the winning are her backers and the press.

The big LOSER was clearly ABC as George S had no business being a moderator since he was part of the Clinton White House and Gibson is a dufus, Don't think Old Hill's 'performance' will help her with the Super Delegates. She could be seen clinging to her spin on the sniper fire she did or did not endure and said "yes, yes, yes" when asked if Obama could be president. I don't consider that winning "hands down." More like losing with a whimper.

It's totally a matter of perspective. What is wrong with people!?!? Waiting for polling from the debate to see what "other people" think. Did it change anyone's mind? Probably not. Did it answer any questions about how either candidate would do a better job than the other? No.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:48 AM on 04/17/2008

who cares who "won" the debate was a joke. An absolute circus side-show.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 01:59 PM on 04/17/2008

Was the debate on ABC? I thought I was watching Fox. They glossed over important issues that thinking Americans are interested in and played up the irrelevant tabloid issues. Fox style. It was a shameful insult to the intelligence of all American voters. Obama weathered it well - I would have walked when he was prodded on whether or not Rev Wright loved America. Who the heck cares! - he's not running for president. I think the righties are really hacked at Obama because he exposed their strategy in his comments - the right enrages people to cast their votes on (inconsequential) wedge issues rather than important ones. He's a marked man now, they can't handle being exposed in that way. Little do they know - this electorate won't be fooled again. ABC is getting nailed with user comments - be sure to add yours and contact them via phone an email.

Yes, right Joe, thats why you led the charge about her being unpatriotic.

Scarborough's "crush" on Hillary is meant to be understood as sarcasm. He actually hates the Clintons and when praises them he's really implying the opposite. Whenever he lauds Hillary's tenacity, he's actually knocking her stubborness.
