Obama Small Town

Barack Obama's comments on small towns have not been lost on his campaign. On the heels of picking up three superdelegates yesterday, today they announced the endorsement of superdelegate Reggie Whitten from Oklahoma. Whitten makes sure to speak positively of Obama's connection to small town voters three times in a single statement.

"I have decided to endorse Senator Barack Obama and will work wholeheartedly to see him become the next President of the United States. Some say there is no particular need to endorse at the present time. However, I believe this is a defining moment, not only for our Party, but also more importantly for our country. Therefore, I made the decision to commit now.

"While deciding to support Senator Obama, I thought of my history and my future. I'm from the small town of Seminole, Oklahoma: a city that is predominantly hard-working middle class citizens. It is important that our next President keep small towns like Seminole in mind when he talks about our economy. I am very sincere in my belief that Senator Obama will do just that. When I talk about my future, I, like most people, think of my children. The next administration will have a great deal to say about their future and the world they inherit. As a parent, I am confident Senator Obama has the courage, skill, and experience necessary to lead America forward.

"Whether it is his willingness to tell corporate America what it needs to hear instead of what it wants to hear, restoring America's standing abroad, or inspiring young Americans to commit themselves to public service, Senator Obama's message is equally refreshing and inspiring. It is no coincidence that voters, especially young voters, are turning out to vote in record numbers.

"As we move closer to the convention and, from there, to the general election in November, I am certain Senator Obama will continue to build a broad coalition of Democrats, Independents, and yes, even Republicans. He unites us in the belief that without change in Washington, we as a nation cannot begin to address the challenges and opportunities of our future.

"In conclusion, for these reasons and many more, I'm proud today to stand with Barack Obama and his growing movement for change."

Boy pathetic attempt at spin......BAR no pass on your performance

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:27 AM on 04/17/2008

How is this spin? It may be killing you but after last night's debate, Obama picked up 2 more Super Delegates, which means that he is 2 steps closer to the 2025 that he needs for the nomination. At this point, every new Super Delegate is news (for either camp, although Hillary doesn't seem to be making much of this kind of news since Super Tuesday).

take that Hillary

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:27 AM on 04/17/2008

That says it all...you can snife, smear, through curve ball or the kitchen sink but the American people have woken up and not stupid to realize this is not the Bush kind of game to be played on. As such, Hillary better know that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, and the people have spoken they would rather take the high road with Barack Obama than her.

Obama was the only adult who participated in the debate. The hosts were juvenile and even Obama took pity on Hillary regarding the Bosina issue and explained away her lying better than she did. She was nodding every at everything he said when he was doing her favor, yet instead of being grateful of course she turned on him again. Obama could have made in a very uncomfortable blood bath regarding the lies Hillary has been caught in but he instead choose to be the adult of the 4 people participating in that debate and move the subject along.

Obama is just really annoyed that he has to answer the same old stupid questions over and over again, about what other people said, and why he should be held responsible for it. Now its this Ayers guy who did whatever he did when Obama was 8 years old, and now because Ayers is a neighbor of his and once they sat on sometype of corporate board together (there are usually many, many strangers on those boards), they try to associate him with that too.

Stephen (whatever is name is), had a conflict of interest because he worked for Bill Clinton's presidential campaign and is not impartial. That is why the debate was so bias as silly, and that's probably why Obama was annoyed with the entire situation.

But Obama will win, that is if Pennslyvanians have any real sense of self-preservation.

Absolutely, George Stephanoplis career is where it is becouse of his relationship with the Clinton Whitehouse....he is a member of the Clinton debt camp. He never should have been allowed to moderate that so called debate.

I'm a Clinton supporter, but even I was wondering about this, too. He should not have been allowed to moderate. He has been friends with the Clintons for a long, long time.

Boy...I never understood how he became a talking head at ABC because I really find him stiff and not that smart to say the least. In fact, he bores me so much I flip him out most of the time. I guess I was right all alone after see his debate monitoring performance.

Congrats on another SD!

Hopefully more SD's will make their decisions soon. In making their decisions, I hope they consider that Sen. Clinton seems to believe that no time has passed and things haven't changed from her husband's administration. The 1990's are long past and we're living in a different time now.

That was no debate, it was a shameless example of hour our country is compromised over and over again. The issues were an AFTERTHOUGHT...and ABC is guilty of a huge diservice to us all.

I totally agreed. ABC and the Clintons are treating the public as if we have IQ of 13.

ABC thought they are making a name for themselves but it turned bad for them. Your deeds will make you who you are...and as far as ABC, I would relate that station as TRASH.

It has good to know that the meat of this "bitter-gate" is not last. If I am not mistaken, he has put the issue of little America on the political stage.
It is important that we recognize the role rural America plays in the economic equation and address it to move the entire country forward.

In January 1995, as the Clintons were licking their wounds from the 1994 congressional elections, a debate emerged at a retreat at Camp David. Should the administration make overtures to working class white southerners who had all but forsaken the Democratic Party? The then-first lady took a less than inclusive approach.

"Screw 'em," she told her husband. "You don't owe them a thing, Bill. They're doing nothing for you; you don't have to do anything for them."

i agree . that steady drip is more superdelegetes boarding the 'O' train. four in the last two days. i think penn. will be closer than most people think. i think hillary is now preceived as being dishonest, and i think alot of voters know what everyone, other than the media knows, and that it's over, lets end this thing and get on to knockin' the wheels off the straight talk express.
