BOSTON — Former Clinton Cabinet member Robert Reich on Friday endorsed Barack Obama over Hillary Rodham Clinton in the battle for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Two other Democratic elder statesmen, former Sens. Sam Nunn of Georgia and David Boren of Oklahoma, also said they were supporting the Illinois senator.

Reich, who served as Labor secretary under Bill Clinton, said in a blog post that "although Hillary Clinton has offered solid and sensible policy proposals, Obama's strike me as even more so."

Reich also said Obama's plans for reforming Social Security and health care have a better chance of succeeding, and his approach to the nation's housing crisis and financial market failures are sounder than the New York senator's.

Reich is a longtime friend of Bill and Hillary Clinton. He ran for governor in Massachusetts in 2002 and now is a professor at the University of California-Berkeley.

A number of other former Clinton cabinet members have endorsed Obama. New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson, who was U.N. ambassador and energy secretary under Clinton, endorsed former rival Obama in March despite heavy wooing by the former president. Former Denver Mayor Federico Pena, who headed the transportation and energy departments under Clinton, became a co-chair of Obama's campaign last September. Former Clinton Commerce secretaries Norman Mineta and William Daley also have endorsed Obama.

Nunn and Boren will serve as advisers to Obama's National Security Foreign Policy Team.

Nunn served as chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee from 1987-95, while Boren was the longest-serving chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.

Both fall into the moderate-conservative end of the Democratic party's ideological spectrum and gave Bill Clinton trouble during his presidency, trying to tug him to the right on issues while most congressional Democrats were leaning to the left.

Nunn, who recently flirted with his own possible White House bid, said Obama has "a rare ability to restore America's credibility and moral authority and to get others to join us in tackling serious global problems."

Boren, who recently played host to a forum on electoral alternatives, including third-party runs, said: "Our most urgent task is to end the divisions in our country, to stop the political bickering, and to unite our talents and efforts. Americans of all persuasions are pleading with our political leaders to bring us together. I believe Senator Obama is sincerely committed to that effort."

I just can't wait to hear what Billy and Carville have to say about this current betrayal.
Now, Hillary can play the victim again and cry.

By the way, she can't seriously think that she will be successful in 2012 if Obama should lose. Common on, she has burned too many bridges to ever be a viable candidate. If Obama loses another candidate will come up to challenge her.

I guess this analysis will make Hillary and her supporters very bitter!

It happened. An hour ago, Carville announced that like Richardson, Reich too is a judas.

there is no way he could have the gall to say that about Robert (who dated Hilary a long long time ago!)

what is Carville going to say about Sen Dunn? and the superdelegate who flipped today from hilary to barack?

these guys are out of control

Carville, like both Clintons, have sacrificed all moral authority in this campaign and are rapidly becoming jokes. His words have no impact. He is a jackal. looks like one too.

And according to a guess on Glenn Beck last night, he feels that Bill Clinton has been sabotaging his wife's campaign knowingly. He thinks Bill wants her to lose because Bill will be losing so much money when she's President. He won't be able to have his secret deals and partnerships any long and he won't be able to speak to another women. He says Bill is too smart not to know what he's doing.

I don't understand, these two liberal reports actually question Barak's character and they get an earful? God forbid they do that. These two schmucks are going for the most important job in the world any questions is fair ground and they should be forced to answer them.

Here's a comment that appeared with the source article:
"It is really getting scary that another ultra-liberal like Riechhhh is lining-up behind Barry. As much as I do not like, trust, believe, support Hill, she is much more qualified than Barry to lead albiet either would lead in the wrong direction. Those of us who earn a good salary will not support either dem candidate. The dems have dug another grave with Barry and Hill. Report ... By Worksforaliving"
I love how this guy identifies himself as someone who makes "a good salary" and signs off as "worksforaliving" as though folk who don't make so much don't work very hard. This is the typical arrogance one often sees in the repub ruling class and is a perfect reminder that Obama's observation that if the not so well off voted their economic interests -- as this guy does -- there would be more economic equity in this country with a democratic gov't leading the way.

From the LA times, there is a video now exploring Obama's connection with the Weather Underground. Here is the link - if it doesn't work, type in "Obama's Terrorist Connections youtube" in Google. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxoiZdBSi-g What is Obama’s true link to the former Weathermen? The Obamaites will be singing a different tune if the tough questions had been directed at Clinton instead. I didn’t see them coming to her defense before when she was getting the tough ones. She has to finally confront the moderators herself at the debate before anyone paid attention. Why didn’t Obama do that on Wed if he thinks it was unfair? If he can’t stand up for himself why should we think he will stand up for the country?

HypocrisySlayer,
You are just as moronic as the woman with the flag wearing question. Where is the connection of Ayers to Obama in your piece of conspiracy? Did you get a secret tape of Obama in diapers in a alley way running from one of the bombings? Did you get a ticket for when he traveled from Indonesia to partake in these bombings? Do you by chance have materials that show him meeting with Ayers and having a drink, after they bombed a building recently?

What exactly were we to get from that idiotic video?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 02:28 PM on 04/18/2008

For the first time Obama was put in the hot seat at a debate and he squirmed and hemmed and hawed and contradicted himself. I actually felt sorry for the poor sod. He should have anticipated those questions and they would have been opportunities for him to settle the issues. Instead, without a teleprompter and the American flags behind him, he flailed and failed miserably. Blaming Hillary for being a good debater will not hide his own deficiencies. Of course Hillary will use his weakness to her advantage. What do you think? McCain will roll over in November because of Obami the Almighty? I remember Obama dredged up the cookie business and threw some other digs at Hillary. Bill Ayers never went to jail because the Feds botched the job. He was also unrepentant. The ex Weathermen that Bill Clinton pardoned had been imprisoned for 16 years and were repentant. Yes I am interested in the questions posited at last night’s debate and in Obama’s and Clinton’s answers. I don’t want a President who can’t explain satisfactorily his association with Wright and Ayers and who has difficulty in articulating his convictons and beliefs unless he has a script and teleprompter. I don’t want a thin-skinned President who can’t own up to the truth.

Give it up, Hillary has lost the race, by her own missteps misrepresentations of herself, her old and tired gotcha politics and her willingness to change her position on the issues depending on which way the wind is blowing. And if you read Robert Riechs endorsement instead of spouting off your silly spin you will understand why Borack Obamn is going to be nominee, and very possibly the next President.

Shows what dopes we have in this country. They can't even read a post and tell what it is about.

What's Hillary Clinton got to do with a person asking a question. I guess in that case we can hold obama responsible for the stupid people asking the questions about Lewinsky over and over. Bet you would mess yourself if someone stepped up and asked obama how it felt to be the son of a bigamist and drunk....his father married five women without divorcing his first wife and also deserted each after they had a child . He drank so much he was constanly having auto accidents. He lost his legs in one accident and got fired. THEN THE LYING EYES OBAMA TOLD THAT THE REASON HE GOT FIRED WAS BECAUSE HE WAS SUPPORTING AFRICAN RIGHTS. So does that mean he was supporting the rights to stay drunk. And just think of all that money obama made by writing all those lies about his wonder of a father in his book....But of course if anybody asked.....they would blame it on Hillary like when the screw ups he makes become known they always do.

Heck de deck obama is going to loose the general election he is trailing McCain in every single poll while Hillary beats McCain or is dead even...what does that tell you...obama has only WON republican states. What's gonna happen when the republicans in that state vote for McCAin. obama can't carry a real Democrat state, only ones are where he steals the caucus.

The general election is won by electrol votes not hand raising at a caucus, which is really suspect. And if you count the electrol votes obama is up a creek without a paddle. Leave it up to the Democrats in charge to shoot themselves in the butt and spew crap all over they are so so so good at snatching defeat from victory, which they will with obama. WHEN IS HE GONNA WIN A POPULAR DEMOCRAT STATE. NEVER.

The good old boys will really have those big old jelly balls bouncing.

Obama Endorsed by Former Senators Nunn & Boren; Reich does so as well

Two former senators with long records on foreign policy and national security issues -- and who come from "red" states where Republicans dominate -- have just endorsed Sen. Barack Obama's bid for the White House.

Sam Nunn of Georgia and David Boren of Oklahoma, both Democrats (as is Obama), will also be serving as advisers on Obama's national security foreign policy team. ...
