The New York Post has an exclusive report on a homeless man who found the "confidential" blueprints for the Freedom Tower in a New York dumpster!

It's a good thing Osama wasn't walking through SoHo yesterday morning.

Two sets of confidential blueprints for the planned Freedom Tower, which is set to rise at Ground Zero, were carelessly dumped in a city garbage can on the corner of West Houston and Sullivan streets, The Post has learned.

Experts said the detailed, floor-by-floor schematics contain enough detail for terrorists to plot a devastating attack.

Below is a photo of the blueprints:

Below is a drawing of the planned Freedom Tower:

So what? With a couple of phone calls, I could have a set of plans by the end of the week. And I certainly wouldn't need a "Q" clearance to get them.

Any qualified bidder can obtain plans by just asking for them. They, in turn, would make copies for any subcontractor they were looking for a bid from. And after dozens of copies of plans are "out there" and hundreds of estimators, contractors, engineers and subs have seen them, any one of them or group of them can decide not to bid and "-*PFFFFT*-" into the can it goes. There's no shredding protocol.

Of all the legitimate terrorist targets that are still exposed this long after the 9/11 Commission findings, this "discovery" of the New York Post - a Rupert Murdoch rag - should be a one paragraph back page filler. We're not even capable of protecting the hundreds of obvious targets that would be devastating to our population centers. Why should we concern ourselves with meaningless symbols that haven't even been built yet?

The fact that this is even a "story" says a lot about the American people's naivete .

It's no wonder Bush is still in power.

Just out of curiosity - when were the plans drafted? Any date? January 2001? Are they supplementary material to Project of a New America?

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 03:29 AM on 04/20/2008

Confidential? what the hell is that? When you can easily grab plans for buildings that can be attacked on the internet and in the citys files along with any contractor who works on it then are we more safe from terroists? We take off our shoes at airports and they just discovered airplanes never being checked for cracks that might take the planes down. We go thorugh the scanners over an over but who watches the bulkhead for cargo? How about them ports and trains that carry really bad stuff that kills people? No one has made us safer and every time I take off my shoes I think about how little the effort matters as who will protect us when the government is checking our shoes and our minature bottles of toiletries. Oh well lots of money went to homeland security and when anyone really knows what is the reality of the money vs reality let me know. I could use the money to save my house and live better without health care bill mounting as I write.

What difference does it make? They are NEVER going to build that tower anyway.

I really feel for this homeless guy,
You know the Bush machine is going to make an example out of him.

Freedom? Wow, that was a while ago...

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 03:36 AM on 04/19/2008

The symbolic irony of this event is not entirely lost on me.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 02:03 AM on 04/19/2008

There is no surprise here!

There could be hundreds of copies of the building plans and they would be provided to contractors, local, state, and federal authorities. Copies will be left unguarded at various contractor and governmental sites. Thousands of people will need to access building plans for varous legitimate reasons and probably will not have appropriate clearances if indeed the bldg. plans are considered highly classifed.

It will be easy to determine much about the methods of construction by observing construction from the street and adjacent buildings. There are so many ways. You simply cannot compartmentalize the knowledge needed to build these structures because of the relationships among all involved. This is a civilian effort and the cat will never get out of the bag because the cat will never go in it. Two sets were dumped in the garbage right? Think about it.

IT'S LIKE, YOU KNOW, SYMBOLIC....

Thanks to George W. Bush, our constitutional freedoms are, effectively, being tossed in the garbage can. Frankly, I think someone in on the planning of the Tower was making a Statement....

A few years ago I read a very interesting book by Peter Lance - "1000 Years For Revenge" . It told of events and people connected to the first bombing of the WTC, and gave a timeline of events and people connected to 9/11.

In the very early '90's someone threw out some old files, including the blueprints to the World Trade Center. Those were picked up by an Egyptian employee at the WTC who was later discovered to be close to the Blind Sheikh who is in prison for masterminding the first Trade Center bombing.

Is this deja-vue all over again?

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 07:28 PM on 04/18/2008

Yeah, having those plans helped them out so much.

LOL!

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 01:40 PM on 04/19/2008

I don't think they should be able to build anything there until they retrieve the steel from the original towers back from China. The evidence from the original crime scene should be thoroughly examined by independent experts before some 'freedom tower' atrocity is put up.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 07:20 PM on 04/18/2008

As opposed to what they did BEFORE they scrapped the steel?? They investigated the whole thing, and came up with what seems to be a very accurate explanation of the causes of the collapses!

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 03:56 PM on 04/19/2008

you're confusing accurate with plausible.....

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 05:08 PM on 04/19/2008

No, I'm saying that every engineer that I know (all of whom are very competent in their fields, most of whom are in buildings) are saying that their own estimate THAT DAY matches with what they saw in the reports. I'm also saying that I've met one or two who actually were involved in the process to explain what happened that day, and I can tell you right now, they aren't involved in ANYTHING resembling a conspiracy!

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 05:13 PM on 04/19/2008

And how did these engineers explain bldg 7? 47 stories on the ground in 6.5 seconds? Lucy, ju got some splainin to do!

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 05:30 PM on 04/19/2008

I can't answer WTC7, except to say that I've NEVER seen anybody who wasn't a conspiracy nut try to claim that it collapsed in 6.5 seconds.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 04:43 PM on 04/20/2008

How would you ascertain that beyond your own belief?

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 05:26 PM on 04/19/2008

How the hell am I supposed to ascertain ANYTHING then. I know that when I turn on a light switch that electricity will run through it and turn on the light. That doesn't mean that I'm able to explain all of the physics involved in the procedure....

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 04:45 PM on 04/20/2008

U R right. clearly controlled demolition. That's why , as the GAO kindly pointed out, there are no plans to go after Bin Laden.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 05:52 PM on 04/19/2008

How is it a "clearly controlled demolition"?? The TOP of the towers started to collapse, falling down on the building BELOW them. In a controlled demolition, the engineers always make it start from the BOTTOM of the building, since they won't have to use as much explosives....

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 04:46 PM on 04/20/2008

Breaking, homeless man will be tortured. Are we sure this "homeless" guy "found" these plans for our Freedom Tower? Maybe he stole them and is now trying to cash in.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 06:21 PM on 04/18/2008

Right. With a little extraordinary rendition he'll soon be singing a different tune.

He's AQ all right.

I think I saw him under my bed last night.

Quick, quick: what color is your Terror Alert???

These are the same plans that become public record as soon as they get a building permit.

After twenty years in construction I have to say that this is just too common. Most people just do not care about these important documents. It could be as simple as these documents were in their way when they wanted to eat their pastrami sandwich or maybe they were spoken to in the wrong tone. Also, these drawing begin to pile up, especially after revisions are issued, so one must get rid of them. The companies I worked for have always recycled but many do not.

On another note, this building is a joke. The intended height of 1,776 feet is completely arbitrary. If it chooses 1,776 feet as its symbolic base, then it should be called the "Freedom to be White, 25, and a Property Owner that Can Also Own Slaves". Those are the only people that had true freedom in 1776. Women and non-Euro-Americans have had to wait for the freedom that we have today. Please do not misunderstand me - I love this country and would live in no other, however, it is not perfect and we must no shy away from our history. Women could not vote until 1920, so perhaps we should make the tower 1,920 feet tall. Many African-Americans could not vote until the late 1960's, so let's make it 1,965 tall. I could go on. I have truly admired many works by Libeskind but this is not one of them. The one building that should truly have a concept does not.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 03:44 PM on 04/18/2008

Perhaps 1971 feet would be the right height....when Nixon took us off the gold standard and our standard of living has decreased ever since.

favoriteFavorite Flag as abusive Posted 06:31 PM on 04/18/2008

LOL, Freedom Tower - now THAT is a joke.

Key buzz words for our fascist guvment are "freedom" and "terror". Freedom Tower my ass, how about restoring some of our civil liberties, then we can talk about "Freedom Towers'.

Black is white, war is peace, and freedoms just another word for nothing left to lose.

The Terror Tower. A splendid reminder.
