It's fairly obvious that GQ has been ramping up its political profile of late: a Barack Obama cover in September (its first political cover since 1992), Bill Clinton as a Man of the Year in December, and, more recently, features on Rudy Giuliani's temper and John McCain's blogging daughter Meghan. It appears that, with GQ correspondent Lisa DePaulo's recent Karl Rove interview, Washington is taking notice.

A letter sent yesterday from the House Judiciary Committee to Rove cites the DePaulo interview, which appears in the magazine's May issue:

In a recent interview with GQ Magazine, you respond by describing Ms. Simpson as a "complete lunatic" and asserting that she never mentioned your name during the deposition that she submitted to before Committee staff. In fact. Ms. Simpson actually referenced you several times at deposition. In any event, particularly since you have briefly commented on this matter in GQ and while serving as a commentator on Fox News, we believe the subject, like other serious charges regarding the role of politics at the Department of Justice, should be addressed before a key investigating Committee of Congress.

it is my hope that any Rove trials end after the November election, thus eliminating him any chance for a presidential pardon. Karl needs to stay in his cell for a long time before any consideration of parole.

Maybe this corrupt little man will finally open his mouth once too often. Either way, he is as responsible for the mess in this country, including Iraq and the economy, as anyone else and, as anyone else, should be held accountable.

This thug needs to be brought to Justice and imprisoned for the crimes he conspired to commit.

The privilege in executive privilege lies with the President and cannot be waived by the actions of Rove. One would think that any even slightly competent Chair of the Judiciary Committee would know that.

PERHAPS THIS ENTRY IN RONALD REAGAN'S PERSONAL DIARY IS THE REASON SOME OF US HAVE LITTLE FAITH IN EXECUTIVE PRIVILEGE AS OFFERED UP BY THE CURRENT PRESIDENT!
Here is an excerpt from the a new book, the REAGAN DIARIES and it is an actual quote that
Reagan wrote about George "W" in his diaries, recently edited by
author Doug Brinkley and published by Harper Collins.

"A moment I've been dreading. George brought his n'er-do-well son
around this morning and asked me to find the kid a job. Not the
political one who lives in Florida; the one who hangs around here
all the time looking shiftless. This so-called kid is already
almost 40 and has never had a real job. Maybe I'll call Kinsley
over at The New Republic and see if they'll hire him as a
contributing editor or something. That looks like easy work."
From the REAGAN DIARIES------entry dated May 17, 1986.

THE FACT THAT THE SAME MAN MENTIONED IN THIS DIARY ENTRY BECAME PRESIDENT IS INCREDIBLE!

Imagine that. I wonder what Reagan was thinking when this clown became president.

If there is one thing that could be called "fortunate" about Alzheimer's it is the fact that hopefully President Reagan never knew it.

I felt it was a crime against history that "The Great Communicator" was eulogized by "The Great Mumbler".

I would really like to see what Karl Rove get whatever he has coming to him, but the tone of the letter was a huge mistake. His testimony is voluntary, and they intimidate him with what he has said in GQ and Fox? Why would he be willing to testify now? I think it was a really dumb strategy to Conyers and company to play their hand before Rove appears before them, since there's almost no chance that he will. Not that I think he would have anyways!

Dumb strategy? Please share with us the precise strategy you would employ. Obviously you have experience in these type matters. Lay it out for us. Thanks in advance.

Ah yes.
John Conyers.
One can see by his use of language that he
is a mental giant with a wide vision.

Karl Rove is a Mormon. Plaster a Happy Face on a "complete lunatic" and that's what you got.

Bravo! I think it is brillian of Conyers and his staff to cite things like the GQ piece. The committee took the same tack in their letter to John Yoo. It is so typical of Bush appointees/pals to rush right out for any "puff piece" they think will make them look relevant, brilliant, glamorous and supercompetent. When the time comes for serious inquiry into the legality of their actions, or the part they may have played in any scenario where "non-Bushies" were disadvantaged, they go rushing back to King George for cover like the craven, incompetent cowards they have proven to be

Sadly, you're wrong. If McCain becomes president I'll betcha a cookie that he pardons the entire gang.

Bush will pardon them all before he leaves office.

Ill bet a whole box of cookies that there is zero chance of McCain or ANY Repugnant being president for a generation or more. And you can thank your good buddy....Rove....and "Chimpy-McFlight Suit" for your coming years of being on the outside looking in!

Rove will get softball questions at Fox and then slander all his critics with lies and innuendo, he will grant an interview with a major magazine. But he is such a coward he will not go under oath before Congress. He talks tough on Fox but this chumps needs to go to prison!

Is he going to Gitmo?

There is nothing that could ever make me happier than Rove getting his due justice - and Gitmo would be the icing on the cake.

Has loud mouth Karl abrogated his right to exert executive privilege?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 08:49 PM on 04/18/2008

One thing he has claimed regarding this case is that at no time did he ever talk with anyone in the White House about this case, he has repeated that claim many times now. It seems like Executive Privilege doesn't apply here but you can bet he will claim just that.

Oh well, I guess that Sean Hannity and Bill O'reilly will have to find another bigot to help them do their show on fox news. You know, I was watching a little bit of fox last night, and it was really comical to watch all of these middle age men, who think that they are more spiritual than everyone else, talk about Jeremiah Wright. I mean, they even had their helicopter flying over Wright's new house. I thought to myself how sad this world has become that Fox news has nothing better to do than fly around in a helicopter trying to figure out how Jeremiah Wright was able to afford this house. Whatever happened to the news. And then, Bill O'reilly even said that they would stay on the story. Who the heck cares? What about the news? And then you had SEan Hannity come on next, and all that he talked about was Bill Ayers. He also said that he would stay on this story. Well, you know, when you keep trying to dig ditches for other people, you eventually will fall into the ditch yourself. Just look at Karl Rove. I belive that Karl Rove is a white collar "crimelord."

At this very moment President Bush is preparing a presidential pardon for his mentor.

DaCoach,
You flatter Karl Rove by bestowing on him the title of "mentor."
The correct term would be "Bush Toadie."
Rove first became enamoured of George W Bush when he saw him looking macho in his brown leather flight jacket, presumably with the sun behind him, showing his best profile. No question Rove was in love.
What a putz!

That will never happen because it would be a massive disaster for the Republicans. This is why Libby was not pardoned. If he is pardoned, then he cannot invoke the Fifth Amendment any more, and he will be REQUIRED to answer any and all Congressional Inquiry questions under oath. If he refuses to answer he will be held in contempt of Congress and imprisoned as long as it takes for him to change his mind.

Karl Rove is a criminal and a liar.

EXHIBIT A:
Karl Rove bugs himself:

"Rove claimed to have found an electronic bug hidden in his office. He implied that only Governor White's staff would have had any use for bugging his office. The police and FBI investigated. The bug's battery was so small that it needed to be changed every few hours and it hadn't been in the device long before Rove found it."

Hilarious!

So why didn't the FBI charged Rove for making that false claim right there and then?
