PHILADELPHIA — Barack Obama was greeted by the largest crowd of his campaign Friday night in Philadelphia. Some 35,000 people jammed into Independence Park to see the Democratic presidential candidate, four days before this state's crucial April 22 primary.

Frank Friel, director of security at the Independence Visitor Center, made the official estimate.

The crowd exceed the 30,000 who greeted Obama and Oprah Winfrey in December in Columbia, S.C.

Obama told the crowd the United States is at a crucial moment in its history, much like what the founding fathers faced in Philadelphia.

"It was over 200 years ago that a group of patriots gathered in this city to do something that no one in the world believed they could do," Obama said. "After years of a government that didn't listen to them, or speak for them, or represent their hopes and their dreams, a few humble colonists came to Philadelphia to declare their independence from the tyranny of the British throne."

The Illinois senator called Democratic rival Hillary Rodham Clinton a "tenacious" opponent but said it was time to move beyond the politics of the 1990s.

"Her message comes down to this: We can't really change the say-anything, do-anything, special interest-driven game in Washington, so we might as well choose a candidate who really knows how to play it," Obama said.

She is like a party guest who would not leave after the party is over. She stays and keeps yapping and yapping even when the host wants to clean and retire to bed. Add Bill and the nagging Chelsea who keep asking why we do not want them and a clear picture emerges. We are fatigued.

For all of you that have been banned under a previous moniker, you seem to feel that it is because you made a comment about Hillary. Well, I am an Obama supporter and my comments have always been very mild. Yet I have been banned under two of my monikers. The last one only lasted a day before they banned me.

I have emailed them many many times asking for an explaination, but never get a reply. Arianna really needs to look into her moderators. Something is going on. Hoping this gets through and I don't get banned yet again!!!

When Barack Obama asserts that Hillary and Billary are correct; that he does not have their portfolio for knuckling under to the special interests, largely due to lack of experience, I'm sure that many construe that to be a message of hope.

It would put Hillary and Billary's overweaning ambition to rest. It would uncover John McCain's undoubted credentials for making all the wrong decisions for all the wrong reasons. It would tell the entire world we are not their enemy. That even given the ills a short-sighted government, in the hands of a bunch of thugs may do, we still can repair some of the damage.

In that, there are few better suited than Senator Obama, and those who promote their own agendas ahead of the common good, need to be removed and relegated a place in history as failures.

Hilarry's victims are sicker and more desperate than I tought. Now Obama can't even scratch his face without her weird folks saying he's giving her the the finger....boy,...she'd loved that wouldn't she.... I'm sure Bill hasn't given her the finger in a long time.

I saw a clip of Senator Obama and saw him use his pinky finger to touch his lip. I think it's just a nervous reaction or something.

Obama flipping the finger in same speech at same moment but to different audiences. Was it a miraculous coincidence? What a classy guy!!!
It wasn't an accident folks. People who defend his "innocent + immature" actions are like lemmings who will follow him over a cliff if he gets the nomination.

Guess what? I sometimes scratch my cheek with my middle finger. Doesn't mean a damn thing. However, I am giving you the middle finger unambiguously right now.

That's not different audiences, or different events or different speeches. It is the exact same moment at the exact same time and place as seen from two different cameras.

Have you really never seen someone touch their face with their middle finger before?

Where is the option to block comments from a particular user from view?

Sorry--it's 2 different audiences. Different people are behind him in each video. The two videos are shot from the same position--not different angles which could make your statement correct. Normally when I see someone scratch their face or nose with their middle finger and then smirk afterwards ..... well, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what they're doing.

grow up, this is rediculous!! MAYBE JUST MAYB E the guy is EXHAUSTED from campaigning all the time, answering STUPID questions on a debate, being derailed and put on the defensive. Is this the BEST you can do??

You know, Hillary supporters are disgusting and vile! I may get banned from this site but I'll take my chances. Some A$$HOLE hacked Obama's site. Or rather, inserted some kind of Javascript that would redirect everyone trying to view the Community Blog section over there. Which is still a hack by my estimation. I'm so irritated right now b/c I see no point in doing this. What exactly does this gain? It only further solidifies my disdain for the woman and anyone who supports her. These tactics are SO PETTY! I mean really, grow up already.

Is there anyone out there technically savvy enough to help us figure a way to fix this? Like I said, I read a blog earlier from someone who admitted to inserting this Javascript to screw up the site. I've emailed the admins but still the issue persists.

So sorry guys, I probably shouldn't voice complaints about another site here so I mean no disrespect. I'm reaching out not just to vent but for assistance. I'm amazed at the lengths these Clintonians will go. And they call us crazy and delusional? WOW

ETA - the redirection is straight to HIllary's page. This is the stupidest ish I've ever seen in my life - I'm dead serious. Grown ass ppl playing silly games - WHY? I'm just so irritated I cant even explain it

I'm guessing the issue is on your computer. I've got an account on my.barackobama.com and I can get to blogs and group pages just fine.

Post the URL you're trying to get to and the URL you're taken to instead and the savvy among us can help you figure out what's up.

I think they corrected the issue. It appears to be working fine now.
Thank you so much for replying and offering to assist.

Again I apologize for the abrupt post - this has been happening on and off on his site all day.

entirely possible that's what Sparklez meant - in case you haven't explored Obama's site enough to know this, he has used the social networking software abilities to allow his supporters to create their own fundraising pages. I have one. It's on the barackobama.com website under this same username (DragonMama). Would have been more useful (and obvious) if Sparklez had included a link to her/his page. The money goes directly to the Obama campaign, just the individual gets a little bit of the pride/recognition that the big fundraiser party organizer types get.

Haven't donated yet? Want to be part of getting the campaign to the 1,500,000 individual donors mark? Here's the link to my fundraising page:
http://my.barackobama.com/page/outreach/view/main/DragonMama

(changing username at the end to Sparklez didn't work, so if Sparklez did mean to send people to donate that way, I can't help with the link)

GObama! THIS is wat the superdelegates risk losing if they don't support him - the amazing enthusiasm and excitement that he's created, especially among younger voters. We've waited a long time for this.

Rendell and Chelsie did the gay bar scene in Philadelphia Friday night while Obama was cheering on the crowd. Rendell said they talked to about 1500 who are all voters. Hey I guess they had to do something.

I was there too! At the stage no less! Wasn't it amazing! The guy's like a rock star!!! And seeing him was a HUGE coupe for me (of course, I'm an Obamabot, duh!) But what I truly truly loved most was seeing the ppl from ALL WALKS OF LIFE stand out there for hours on end just to hear him speak for a mere 19 minutes and some change! I mean the crowd grew and grew. And lets not talk about the MOVEMENT after the rally!!! OMG! From 5th and Market all the way thru to 15th and Market they marched on chanting his name, YES WE CAN - my God I get teary eyed thinking about it - seriously. It was such a historic night for my family and myself. Hearing the second hand account from everyone's experience pales in comparison to what it was like to actually be there! I wish you all could have seen this - it was ASTOUNDING! Whew, about to cry again!

I'm in Michigan and, thanks to our stupid state Dems, we have missed out on every bit of the excitement of this primary. So I love hearing about the wave as it crosses the country - first-hand accounts like yours helps us poor left-out folks share in it a bit. :o) And yes, I would have loved to have been there!

Idealistic, hopeful and slightly nerdy Obama supporters, PLEASE watch this clip!!!

Every moment in this scene is poignant and relevant for the time. Watch the faces of the people, watch the deep sighs of relief from the guards, watch the interaction between D'Artagnan and the angry (bitter) masses... What an ability to be able to speak both to the people and to the powers that be!

For everyone out there who supports Obama whole-heartedly, I ask that you watch this clip...and see if you see the same thing I do.
Obama is the man for THIS time.
