PHILADELPHIA — Barack Obama was greeted by the largest crowd of his campaign Friday night in Philadelphia. Some 35,000 people jammed into Independence Park to see the Democratic presidential candidate, four days before this state's crucial April 22 primary.

Frank Friel, director of security at the Independence Visitor Center, made the official estimate.

The crowd exceed the 30,000 who greeted Obama and Oprah Winfrey in December in Columbia, S.C.

Obama told the crowd the United States is at a crucial moment in its history, much like what the founding fathers faced in Philadelphia.

"It was over 200 years ago that a group of patriots gathered in this city to do something that no one in the world believed they could do," Obama said. "After years of a government that didn't listen to them, or speak for them, or represent their hopes and their dreams, a few humble colonists came to Philadelphia to declare their independence from the tyranny of the British throne."

The Illinois senator called Democratic rival Hillary Rodham Clinton a "tenacious" opponent but said it was time to move beyond the politics of the 1990s.

"Her message comes down to this: We can't really change the say-anything, do-anything, special interest-driven game in Washington, so we might as well choose a candidate who really knows how to play it," Obama said.

The republicans are worried. They know Mccain won't win against Obama. Hillary has gotten more free press in the past week that I have seen her with this entire campaign. We really have to dig in our heels and make sure they don't pull anything underhanded. Hillary is becoming an embarrasment to the Democratic party. I can't believe the superdelegates are willing to risk losing all the new voters in the democratic party by pacifing her. If the Democratic Party loses these new voters, there will be no Democratic party.

if they pull a stunt like that , i will never work for the Democratic party again. And the first campaign I worked in was For Mario Cuomo ,the former Governor of New York when he ran for Mayor of New York City against Ed Koch in 1977.

That's why they have been trying ALL YEAR to make us believe Hillary is the MOST EXPERIENCED, the most VETTED, the one capable of beating any REPUBLICAN and a whole bunch of lies. But most people believed them. I didn't I knew that was smoke and mirrors and that they were scared of Obama because they didn't know now to fight honestly.

This has been their agenda for the last couple of months, and it became more apparent on Fox News than MSNBC or CNN, until they caught up with Fox. At first, they were on Hillary, mocking her and ridiculing her campaign. But when Obama started winning, the tables quickly turned on him. The GOP have always been confident that they can beat Hillary, but when they realized how strong Obama's candidacy is, even against someone as powerful and dirty as the Clintons, Obama became their nightmare, and they have been trying to beat him down ever since. Those who think that Senator Obama will be defeated by the GOP are not in the same reality as the Democratic and Republican Party leaders, including the super delegates, and most of the American people, and any time you want proof of just how scared the GOP are, turn on Sean Hannity and Fox News!

Still I Rise

Absolutely. The Dems will be obsolete. All progressives, the youth and Black vote will be gone, as will the anti war vote. We will then HAVE to form a new party. If Hillary and the hated DLC Pols Cheat Obama out of his victory it will make a travesty of democracy that rivals- in cynicism at least- the actions of Bush.

Excellent point...and I'm one I'm sure hasn't eluded the Super Delegates !!!

Besides this Presidential race, there are many, many Democrats who need our votes in November for Congress and the Senate. Would the Supers really be so "bought and sold" as to throw this all away ???

Yes, have you all noticed that McCain has been silent on Hillary, but has been attacking Obama right and left? This shows the Repubs are far more fearful of facing Obama than they are of Clinton, who they know they can beat. But, we do live in an age of lies and deceit. The last two presidential elections have had some controversy with counting the ballots and some have said they were stolen. Gosh, what a surprise with Rove...but later in this string there are some posts about how some precincts in Harlem - Harlem for God's sake! - had '0' votes for Obama. That's some pretty bad mojo. We'd all better watch out in these primaries, and DEFINITELY in the general.

FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW:

LISTEN TO THE BELOW VIDEO EVERYONE PLEASE

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3hUPP_bdOo

And let's see if we can come up with a plan of how to check our very own precincts where we vote. That's how we beat the MEDIA who are trying to condition us for an obama failure in PA by pre-programming the machines to either catch Obama's votes and give them to Hillary (like they did in New Hampsire) or miscount the votes alltogether by giving Obama votes to hillary systematically.

WE CAN STOP THIS. WE MUST MAKE PENNSYLVANIA KNOW BEFORE TUESDAY HOW THEY CAN STOP VOTER FRAUD. HELP ME PLEASE.

Sorry for the caps. Just trying to get your urgent attention.

Get them to check the machines in front of you and to not go behind them once the check has been verified. Because one machine has a button behind it that a person can keep pressing to give themselves many votes if they know about it. I'm not saying which machine because the crooks will tell their people which ones. Just do whatever you can to keep your eyes open and ASK PEOPLE AS THEY EXIT who did they vote for. Don't be afraid. Jot it down on a pad in your purse or pocket. Do whatever you can to get a valid account of who voted for whom at that particular precinct. That's how we can catch them. And thank you for being a caring, loyal American.

The American people's vote should be held highly sacred above many many things.

I'm shocked that this occurence of voter fraud that we all know exists and has existed is treated so lackadaisically by the public and the press.
Extremely severe punishments should be dealt out to those who would manipulate the electronic machines, and personally, I can't believe we have not gone back to paper voting where a record can properly be kept to keep the sanctity of the decision of the American people intact. I don't care about the convenience, these computer machines are wrong. Unconstitutional and very dangerous to the very democracy this country is made of.
Federal Marshalls should be placed throughout precints AT RANDOM all over the country so that any place can be checked and anyone who is intending to manipulate a precint's vote will have no idea where there machines will be reviewed and checked against a paper trail that precint is thereby required to keep, if we cannot keep a paper trail all over the country.

Trust me. The Obama campaign will question it if there is an issue and there are too many in the media rooting for Obama. So, if Obama's votes aren't counted or somehow given to Hillary. It is hard to fix the voting if so many show up. I agree with another user on here that we should get a receipt of who we voted for as proof. If Hillary somehow pulls off a double digit win, I am leaving the democratic party.

I understand your logic...but with all the previous problems; 80 precincts in NY with ZERO votes counted for Obama...109,000 votes not counted in CA because of the "double-bubble" problem..(which WAS rectified after petitions flooded CA).....

Now is not the time to become complacent !!

Obama can so artfully turn a phrase. He nailed in a few words Hillary's message of maintaining the status quo so at least we would be represented at the table. Sometimes I feel Obama should defend himself more and be on the offense more than he does. However, he is a statesman first and has a vision for the country.

Obama's Macaca moment: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2008/04/obamaflipsoffcl.html
He flips Hillary the "Bird" because he got asked too many tough questions at the debate. The Obamaloons , who are justifying more and more Obama missteps, justify the gesture by saying he's using 2 fingers to scratch his cheek. Listen to the laughter afterwards. The audience knew what he had done. He actually did the same middle-finger nose scratching in several different speeches.

Obama did lousy on Wed. because he got tough questions instead of "What color of shirt do you prefer to wear ? " When I hear of people swooning over Obama, it sounds like a cult or a revival service.
I hope people wake up and smell the coffee before its too late. Something also has to be said. Obama dwarfs Hillary in fund raising and she's still ahead. Money + screaming nutcases won't win the election. Obama will wilt against McCain if he's the nominee.

They aren't media, they're poll readers and bad ones at that. They almost never pay attention to the fact that even with the margin of error, the polls are never more than probabilistic models. So, polls often will (and are even predicted to by the guys who construct the polls) vary more than is indicated by the margin of error.

This really smells of desperation on the part of Hillary supporters. The man scratch his face without having people think he is giving his opponent the finger. I looked at the photo and there were two fingers. Obama has handled this election with far more grace and dignity than Clinton hands down.

Clinton has shown the similar traits to Bush:
1. Unwillingness to admit that she was wrong -- as in her vote on Iraq.
2. Vindictiveness towards people who are not loyal to her or who betray her -- as in her bashing of Moveon.org.
3. A complete lack of concern for the party she belongs and a willingness to take the party down with her.

The fix is in...the RNC doesn't want McCain they want his VP Romney.
McCain's health is not going to last long after this campaign
which means they are trying for a sleath candidate who they know
can't get elected by popular vote. There will be bigger crowds even
by Network count.

If his health gives out before Nov 08 his VP will get the sympathy vote.

It will be VERY interesting who McCain's VP choice is...if his health DOES fail, that VP would be the next POTUS...and McCain is very well aware of this !!!

Oh...If McCain's health gives out BEFORE "Nov 08"...he's not the Pres. and any selection for VP is void. The GOP names a new nominee!! McCain has to be sworn in Jan. 09 to officially be Pres.

Longnow, I don't know if what you say is true, but I HOPE it is. Romney is even less electable than Crash.

Crash's age is a factor, but it's his flip flopping on virtually every issue since the mid-90s that will be addressed, along with his NONSUPPORT for any veteran-related support. We will waltz down the path of Crash's very public indiscretions and underscore his inability to discern between diverse middle eastern religious philosophies and his unbelievable lack of geopolitical understanding.

THEN we'll turn our focus to his infamous temper and define his actual military experience.

To paraphrase his pal, Shrub, "Bring him on..."

The MSM, as reflected by ABC, are the true elitist who see the public as gullible rats in a maze of their design.

The truth is that the race is mathematically over, Obama has won. Even Hillary's camp concedes this (though in denial, they think SDs will overturn the election like the SCOTUS did for Bush).

But the truth won't keep the ratings bonanza train rolling. So they are dishonest and push an Iraq-WMD-style deception on us for the benefit of their own corporate interests.

The bottom line, give Hillary her current leads from RCP in PA, IN, KY, PR and WV. Give Obama his leads from RCP in NC, OR, MT and SD. According to Slate.com's calculator, Obama actually gains 4 net delegates by the end of the primaries, Obama ends up with a lead of about 175 delegates, most popular votes and most states won.

The MSM will do or say anything to keep this race going but it is over. Obama has beaten Hillary, the head has been cut off the chicken and just because the body is running around, it doesn't mean it's warming up for a bigger race.

I've said it before...I'll say it again....

Corporate-Owned media = Corporate run government

We have not been getting the real scoop from the media (I refuse to call them "mainstream; cuz they're not) for a VERY long time. They have chosen our candidates from the very beginning, and then told us how long this battle will go on.

It will just have to play out, and we hope the people of this country can come out a winner in this one !!!

If you've checked my site, you might see that I've gone all the way back to the beginning that leads up to this. I'm connecting the dots, if you know what I mean. It's not completely there like it was so let me put it back together again:)

ELITE, a group of people considered to be the BEST in a particular society or category, esp. because of their power, talent, or wealth.

ELITIST, a person who believes that a system or society should be ruled or dominated by an elite,
OR
a person who believes that they belong to an elite. (here is the SNOB meaning)

My view is that YES, Obama is the BEST, and thus in my mind, he definitely is elite.
So this media focus on the word is confusing, as in the GOP meme, GOOD IS BAD.

It bothers McCain and Clinton supporters that Obama has gotten so much support. They thought that he would not resonate with the American people. They wanted him to be another Sharpton or Jackson and he has proven them wrong. If there wasn't any substance to him then he wouldn't have the support he has even after bittergate, Wrightgate and now this foolishness with Ayers. His supporters have had every opportunity to go and vote for Clinton or McCain and they haven't. He is still ahead nationally and has a good chance of winning NC and IN and coming darn close in PA. So the notion that he is unelectable won't work because if that were the case he wouldn't still be ahead in popular vote, states won and more delegates. The Ayers info has been out there and the Wright loop has had much time to sink into many of his supporters and cause then to switch from him.

We're not distracted by the politics of distraction as practiced by Hillary Clinton. Barack Obama is going to be the next president of the United States and we're going to see the whole world rejoice with us.
