McClatchy DC:

The war in Iraq has become "a major debacle" and the outcome "is in doubt" despite improvements in security from the buildup in U.S. forces, according to a highly critical study published Thursday by the Pentagon's premier military educational institute.

The report released by the National Defense University raises fresh doubts about President Bush's projections of a U.S. victory in Iraq just a week after Bush announced that he was suspending U.S. troop reductions.

This report should be front-page news in every paper in America for at least the next week. And the Democrats should keep waving it in McCain's face from now until the election.

Why does the National Defense University hate America so much?

The outcome is not in doubt, it is quite clear : The Oil Companies have made billions and the American people are in poverty. Bin Laden was a Saudi based in Afghanistan. Whereas virtually no one in Iraq gave America a thought, now there are millions of Iraqis who hate America. Saddam Huessin has been gone for years. We are still there. What a shock. Watch the Aaron Russo interview on YouTube with Alex Jones about Nick Rockefeller. It's quite illuminating.

So the Pentagon finally admits that the Iraq invasion and occupation is an unmitigated disaster. Too bad they didn't ask. I could have told them that several years, several hundred thousand lives and several trillion dollars ago.

What does this have to do with Flag Pins, or Rev Wright?

Well, as MajorKong asked: 'Why does the National Defense University hate America so much?'

It makes one wonder if they wear flag lapel pins.
Haven't thought of a Rev Wright connection yet but there must be one in there somewhere.

Its Rev Wright vs the Religious Right.

ABC conducted a "Flag Poll" and found out that 72% of Americans believe that Candidates should wear real flags on their lapels. 28% preferred that suit makers eliminate lapels.

Why doesn't Hilary wear a flag pin? Why has no one mentioned that she doesn't? Kind of funny the moderators didn't have flag pins. Does that mean they're unpatriotic?

Don't you love our Military, Economic and Social leaders who graduated from all these fancy Universities with enumerable degrees while actually lacking the slightest common sense or having been endowed with a brain. Vietnam was not that long ago and you would have thought it should have been the primary comparison and analogy for not going into Iraq.

Our leaders are such moronic AH's I go around daily and laugh to myself about why our country is going down the tube but nobody seems to either care or can think that deep?????

One final thought many of these idiots think a GOD wants us to fight wars!! Oh well, takes all types to make a world and the quagmire in Iraq shows that statement to be very true. Analogy, Republican use religion consistently to espouse righteousness yet they are the biggest war hawks and sinners daily, HYOCRITS.

"...raises fresh doubts about President Bush's projections of a U.S. victory in Iraq"

Actually, even the administration has gone silent on 'victory'. Listen closely to Bush and McCain. Lately its all about 'succeeding' and 'success' in Iraq or maybe even downgraded to 'stability', but no 'victory' rhetoric anymore. Only the most die-hard zealots like Pearle dream of anything approaching 'victory' in Iraq.

"Success" for Bush is not getting his arse impeached and all the troops yanked from the field before he leaves office. Unfortunately for us all he IS succeeding at that.

succinctly said successfully . . . .

Nothing succeeds successfully like successful successification of "victory" . . .

Part 1/2

Traditionally, it is on the issues of defense (war) and foreign policy that the Congress has allowed the President maximum flexibility. On most domestic issues, while the leadership of the President can be important, it is not crucial. Therefore, war and foreign policy issues should weigh much more in the choice of Presidential candidates.

There is no question that the defense and foreign policies of the Republicans have been a disaster. Driven by the NeoCon (PNAC : http://www.newamericancentury.org/index.html ) agenda, Bush and Cheney have given us the worst debacle in several decades. Some view the long-term consequences of this debacle direr than of any previous war.

It has devastated America’s moral authority abroad, increased the number of terrorists, caused massive death and suffering to millions, diminished America’s prestige by shameless acts such as torture, made the Middle East and the world a more dangerous place than ever before, set a shameless precedent for unprovoked (pre-emptive) war, caused death and injury to tens of thousand American soldiers, wasted over $1.5 trillion, contributed heavily to the decline of our economy, and all this to satisfy the depraved goal of a few ( http://www.newamericancentury.org/statementofprinciples.htm ) seeking “benevolent hegemony” and world domination, while mutilating the long cherished American values of peaceful coexistence and justice.

Part 2/2

It is in this context that we must make our choices in this election. This election is unlike any in at least fifty years. It is imperative that we, the American electorate, make the right choice in this election.

It is based on these issues, more than any other, that we must evaluate candidates.

It is clear that McCain would continue the disastrous Bush-Cheney policies, possibly making things worse. He has been one of the architects of this unmitigated disaster, and he is promising to create an even bigger disaster through his stance on Iran and his strange logic of doing more wrong (through his surge) to fix the wrong already done.

Between Obama and Hillary, one finds that the biggest difference between the two is in foreign policy and war. On most other major issues, they are quite similar.

Do your own research, and make your judgments as to which of the two candidates is better. A good place to start is: “Spotlight on the Candidates”( http://www.fpif.org/fpifinfo/4809 ).

I did my research and concluded that Obama is the better of the two candidates. It was an easy decision.

I made the same easy decision, Hume. And I suspect that if we don't get it right this time — with the corporate media propaganda stacked against us — we've all had it.

No surprise here. The only entity to benefit from the stupid, unnecessary war of choice in Iraq is Israel. Just think, how many Americans would still be alive, or uninjured, if the weapons inspectors had been allowed to do their jobs?? And, how many Israelis have died in this unnecessary war in Iraq? ZERO!! But, these fools still persist in pressing for an attack on Iran. How many Americans
have to die to knock off another enemy of Israel??

When you put together Bob Woodward's claims of how close Prince Bandar has been to W since before he got 'elected' and how people like Elliot Abrams and AIPAC have dominated policy decisions, it may be that what we have here is an administration utterly schizophrenic in its purposes and managed by a teenager who wants to impress the girls with how tough he looks. What kind of policy, after all, would appeal to BOTH Israel AND Saudi Arabia? I suppose a longterm occupancy of Shi'ite territory would do okay, and maybe nothing less.
