Richard Quest, CNN Reporter, Arrested On Drug Charges

The New York Post reports on new, lurid details regarding the arrest of CNN reporter Richard Quest.

CNN personality Richard Quest was busted in Central Park early yesterday with some drugs in his pocket, a rope around his neck that was tied to his genitals, and a sex toy in his boot, law-enforcement sources said.[...]

Quest was initially busted for loitering, the source said. Aside from the oddly configured rope, the search also turned up a sex toy inside of his boot, and a small bag of methamphetamine in his left jacket pocket.

It wasn't immediately clear what the rope was for.

The New York Times' City Room blog reports that CNN International business and travel reporter Richard Quest has been arrested on drug charges:

Mr. Quest was arrested early Friday morning after being escorted out of Central Park for violating the park curfew, a law enforcement official said Friday. The park is closed from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m.

The police noticed Mr. Quest at 64th Street and West Drive at about 3:40 a.m., the official said. As he was being escorted out, he volunteered, "I have meth in my pocket," according to an official briefed on the case. The police searched him and recovered a small amount of methamphetamine in a Ziploc bag.

Can only hope that widespread exposure of the ludicrous police claim that the guy spontaneously volunteered that he was committing a felony will make lots of people, and even judges, more skeptical of cops testilying.

However, I wonder if the fact that he's British has something to do with it. Didn't John Major's government substantially weaken the rights against self-incrimination and unreasonable stop-and-search? If so, someone used to UK law might not know their rights in the USA.

Exactly........ Meth has been around since the 70's. It was called SPEED. Now it has become law enforcements new "war on drugs poster child" Just another way to fill the privately owned prisons all over this country. We are the most hypocritical society to ever exist, it makes me f#cking laugh. Here in america we can find one of the most destructive, mind altering drugs ever invented in any restaurant, convenience store, wal-mart, etc, That drug is called alcohol and it is sold and consumed by 100's of millions of americans, but, ..................................it's legal. How many of you drink? How many of you have a boss or co-worker who comes in drunk every morning? Maybe you are that boss or co-worker. How many people are killed each year as a direct result of alcohol? ...................Meth, coke, speed, smack, pot, crack, x, all put together, hasn't caused the harm alcohol has caused in this country...........Oh, and isn't it John McCain's wife who's family made billions pedaling alcohol?
