With the Pennsylvania primary only days away, the New York Times delivers a look at the challenges the Clinton campaign faces with regards to maintaining support among past supporters and increasing its fund-raising capabilities.

Former Supporters:

After nearly two decades building relationships with a generation of Democrats, Mrs. Clinton has recently suffered a steady erosion of support for her presidential campaign from the party stalwarts that once formed the basis of her perceived juggernaut of "inevitability."

Some of it is just business, practical politicians putting aside ties to the Clintons to follow the will of the voters in their states or making a calculation about who seems best positioned to win.[...]

But there is something more wrenching at work as well, a reckoning of whether the Clintons, on balance, have been good or bad for the party. It has the feel of a very personal testing of loyalties to a former president who once always seemed to be adding to the "Friends of Bill" list, and to a sitting senator who, if not so driven as her husband to win over everyone, used her fame to help elect other Democrats.

Fund-raising:

Senator Barack Obama is swamping Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton with television advertising in their prolonged battle for the Democratic nomination, putting fresh pressure on Mrs. Clinton's fund-raising machine to find new sources of money to help her keep pace.

But her big-dollar fund-raising apparatus that was once the envy of the political world is encountering obstacles as many of those in its regular networks of donors have reached the maximum on their personal contributions or grown tired of the relentless press for donations.

The campaign is actively hunting for new wellsprings of cash, while tapped-out donors who want to give more are contemplating financing independent efforts on her behalf that are not bound by contribution limits. So far, however, the independent efforts have been halting at best.

She might as join the reich and she if old man johnny will have her. I see her running as the first women president and I see Barack Obama running for the pesident and in no way shape or form the first black president at all that`s the big diiference to me.Hillary is not busting old man johnny`s chops at all , she is ripping the party apart and will do so in it`s intirety if she keeps this baiting and string of low blows I know this is politics but not to go after McCain is sad. As a democrat if this doen`t stop the re-pukes will take the White House and we lose, our soldiers lose the most. The old Hillary was awesome but her true colors have come out and they are not good for the party or America anymore. This win at all cost will cost America four more years of REICH WING corruption, cronyism,GREED,contradiction and WARMONGERING.

Leadership:

As defined from the encyclopedia
1. The ability "to get people to follow voluntarily."
2. Those entities that perform one or more acts of leading.
3. The ability to affect human behavior so as to accomplish a mission designated by the leader.

Leadership as defined (summary) that I learned as a military officer.
Leadership is the art of “Influencing” a group of people in such a way as to obtain their “loyal” confidence and cooperation in order to accomplish the mission

Everyone has their opinions and thoughts. I would only ask you which of the two do “you” believe is demonstrating true leadership.

I spent 12 years in the military, love my country, and will still fight and die for it. But I know whom I’m voting for.
No president can accomplish anything by themselves they mush have good people around them. Who do you think inspires more?

You be the judge

I think your post is perfect save one word: "three" instead of "two" as to whom we believe is demonstrating true leadership. No names. Well done.

Watching Meet the Press, and Geoff Garin is simply pathetic. He can't even convince me that he himself will be casting a vote for HRC, much less convince anyone else. If this is the best face Hillary has to put forward, IT IS OVER.

Axelrod is making him look like a fool! Russert just called her out in praising MoveOn when she was looking their endorsement and how quickly her tune has changed now that they support Obama.

About Hillary's lying through her teeth to bolster her image throughout her presidential campaign:
once a patholigical liar, always a pathological liar.

At this point, the only thing that Hillary has left for her is the fact that she really DOES support the manned space program...so States with major Nasa centers might favor her. But then again they might not...

clinton supporters,,,,,,,,if hillary truly believes she is the best candidate, and she truly believes in herself, why wouldn't she invest some of that $109 mil they have made into her campaign? mitt romney believed in himself, why isn't she??? as the old saying goes, 'money talks, the rest walk'. or could it be that she knows she can't win, so let the donors pick up the tab, and lets not pay the vendors. once her campaign shuts down, and the phone lines are turned off, the offices closed where are those hardworking small bus. owners that trusted her to pay her bills going to turn to?

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 10:08 AM on 04/20/2008

i thought the same thing. romney spent like 40 million of his own money. clinton on the other hand loaned her campaign 5 milion, which means she will pay herself back with other peoples contributions.
when will the public wake up and realize this woman would be horrible for our country. she has no moral compass.

That lifelong sense of entitlement includes money. She'll stand by the freeway exit with a "Hungry Ex-First Lady" sign before she dips into her/their own ill-gotten gains. (The $5 million was a loan.) Speaking of which ... she hasn't released the names of the donors to the Clinton Library and "Foundation."

When Senator Obama wins the nomination AND presidency, he will be able to truly say:

FIRST, I WANT TO THANK ALL OF THE LITTLE PEOPLE, WHO WITHOUT THEIR FINANCIAL SUPPORT, MY WINNING THIS ELECTION WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN POSSIBLE!!!

April 19, 2008- Gallup Poll Daily tracking shows that Hillary Clinton now receives 46% of the support of Democrats nationally, compared to 45% for Barack Obama, marking the first time Obama has not led in Gallup's daily tracking since March 18-20.
OPERATION CHAOS BABY!!!! HAHAHA!!!! "

This underlines the fact that Hillary Clinton is the Democratic candidate being backed by Republican fascist propaganda. Good to know. No wonder she keeps herself busy attacking Democratic activists.

I agree. Democrats everywhere should be apalled by the tactics and strategies employed by Clinton and her right wing supporters, Rush Limbaugh and his merry band of ding-a-ling ditto-head idiots. I'm sure that the superdelegates are taking notice of "Operation Chaos". They want her to prolong the agony by extending the primary season and damaging the Democratic party's chances for a historic sweep in the upcoming elections.

She should be on the payroll as a 527 for the RNC. She's doing their work for them when she attacks Obama. They want her to get the nomination because they know that SHE IS NOT ELECTABLE. Her high negatives -- now even among traditional Democrats -- makes it all but impossible for her to win in the general. She's toast.

The sooner that she drops out, the better for America and its future.
